How’s that for a creative post title?! Whoa, really knocked that one out of the park! Sorry, but I’ve got my mind on Labor Day…well actually, the ensuing three-day holiday!! Some of you already have your minds on Fall (how in the world is it already September 2nd?!), but this will be our first weekend since early June to have temperatures dip below 100-degrees (but just barely). So we’re emerging from the air conditioning, and getting outside to finally enjoy Summer.
We’ll most likely fire up the grill and dine al fresco. And since it’s (sort of) a patriotic holiday, I’ll set the table with bright red and blue.
Striped paper plates, plaid napkins and bamboo placemats (all from Ikea) set the causal vibe.
A vintage birdcage (painted a cheery yellow here) with a plant inside makes a fun centerpiece. The color palette of blue, red and yellow is popular around here this week! (See my coordinating outfit here).
I’ve had the Pier 1 animal napkin rings for ages, and sometimes they even add to vignettes around the house. Now that’s repurposing and thinking outside the box! Jill would be so proud.
The glass bottles are leftover from this party, and the straws are treasures from the Dollar Store. I stock up on these type of random things when I see them, so I usually have a collection of fun stuff to create with when setting a table.
Oh, and you can read about how I made the table runner here. It’s seen a few holidays now (and this party)!
I love using what I already own to set a table. What types of things do you keep on hand for impromptu tablescapes? Any big plans for the long weekend?
Your table is fun and festive!! I love those glass jars and napkin rings too!
Have a great weekend! Your table looks fun!
I have the same straws and will be breaking them out for the BBQ festival we are competing in this weekend (we are having a luau tailgate). I must say though, I'm in complete fall mode (as seen by my three fall related posts this week). Have a great long weekend!

Hope to see you on my blog:)
I can completely understand why you are posting this cheerful and colorful summery tablescape now. It has been hot enough to run the Devil himself out of town in Texas this summer. We caught a lot of heat here in the Midwest, but nothing like you guys. Get on out there and enjoy your "summer" now that it has cooled down a bit! I love the cheery, bright colors and the neat way you used the bottles for individual drinks! Really crushin' on that birdcage, too!
