Project Little Miss | The Reveal!

Well, the day has finally come that Little Miss has agreed her room is ‘finished enough’ to share! I’d normally say the makeover is ‘complete,’ but nothing with my little creator is ever complete!

From the beginning, she was really firm with what she wanted, but the ideas just keep coming. That’s where I stepped in and helped guide her, and keep her mindful of budgets! It’s colorful, spunky, and full of personality…just like our Little Miss!

While the accessories are bold, we kept the core of the room classic so it will easily grow and transition with her. We stumbled on this Jonathan Adler fabric a few years ago, and knew the mix of colors would be so fun for pulling everything together. We had just enough for drapes, and had them made from a local tailor (they are much more affordable than custom upholstery and drapery companies!), using these RITVA panels as lining.

Kallax Shelves (see how we added wheels here)

Two years ago we created a study area in a nook just outside her room (see it here)…but she quickly outgrew that little desk, and needed more privacy…so now she has a larger, sturdier space for all her homework and creative sessions.

The gallery wall is a collection of her own artwork! Most pieces are just tacked up so she can swap them out as new masterpieces are created. I love the bright white walls to allow her artwork to pop, and the blue ceiling accents the tall pitched shaped.

Desk and Drawer Set | Desk Swivel Chair | Sheepskin Throw | Task Lamp with Charging Port

She feels very official in her tall desk chair, plus it’s comfy for long sessions at her desk. Middle School is serious, y’all! The HEKTAR task lamp also includes a USB port, so she can charge devices at her desk without extra outlets.

We scoured the internet for desks, and ultimately loved the flexibility of building our own. The LIMMNON comes in a variety of sizes and combinations, and is surprisingly sturdy! You can customize the top and legs, and even add drawers!

Her bathroom has the same white walls, and the cabinets mirror the blue of her ceiling.

She loves collecting treasures, and this little wall shelf from Target is perfect for keeping them corralled.

BRAVO Cassie! Sloan’s room is the SWEETEST! I love how you’ve incorporated her artwork and that she has the flexibility of removing/adding new stuff! What a great idea to use a local laylor to hem your drapes! AND the gold circular wall shelf is genius for holding all of her “treasures” ! I know she loves coming home to her colorful yet calm room & new “big girl” desk!!

What color and brand of white paint did you use? I’m looking for a good, true, simple white without lots of undertones.

It looks great! But, I’ve got to ask…we’re you able to pick up your large items from IKEA or did you have them shipped to you? We’ve ordered several large storage-type items and a love seat from ikea to use in classrooms at school this year. Their delivery service has been terrible. Items received long (two weeks) after their promised delivery date, hard to find tracking and order numbers, etc. It has been super frustrating…and school started yesterday.
