Hey, hey, hey! We’ve been busy organizing the garage the last few weekends, but with Summer break just around the corner, we’ll be welcoming house guests soon, so I spruced up our spare room, too. I can’t really call it a Guest Room, since it’s more of a dumping ground. You know the kind of room I mean…that one you keep the door closed and pretend it’s not straight out of an episode of Hoarders. Please tell me you have one of those?!?
The peeps at Command gave me further incentive to clear a walking path in the room. They challenged me to use their new products to create a welcoming space for guests.
After shoving everything in the closet cleaning up the clutter, I made an organized place for overnight guests to put their things. We want them to feel as comfortable in our home as they do their own
Living out of a suitcase is no fun, and neither is forgetting your toothbrush! I stocked little pails with all the essentials, and hung them from Command Brand Terrace Hooks. Guests can grab the whole pail, or just what they need, and head to the bathroom.
I added Command Brand Double Hooks so they’ll have plenty of room to hang their coat, bags, etc.
The Command Brand Smart Phone Caddy is mounted nearby, and close to an outlet, so they can charge their phone or any other electronics.
And I always include fresh drinking water, magazines, and a place for jewelry at night. Flowers in a little Confetti Vase help them feel welcome and special, too.
And the great thing about these Command hooks, is they remove quickly and easily once the guests leave! So I can get back to trashing my spare room. How do you prepare for guests? What special touches do you include? What’s the state of your spare room or closet?
thrilled to be working with Command Brand from 3M to share with you
this project I created. You can check out all their products,
along with many project ideas, on the Command website, the Command Twitter page (@CommandBrand), Command Facebook page, and Command Pinterest page.
so cute Cassie!!! I was just thinking at IKEA last night of getting a few of their white robes for the back of the guest room door ( with command strips) for guests.. It looks so thoughtful in your room, the guests will love it.

Love it! I have been thinking of ways to make our guest room extra homey! It got a major makeover recently from being that hoarder room. I always use Birchbox samples and hotel toiletries for the guest room and make a little basket with all those items. I thnk my MIL likes it because she knows she can try new things when she comes up for a visit. What are some of your go-to items when stocking a guest room?
I really like the idea of keeping guest supplies in the guest room, otherwise, if they are kept in the bathroom they will share with others, items could be, let's say, pilfered! and I may not learn that they've been used. The little pails for supplies (saw some like that at tar-jay) made me think of carrying my toiletries to the shared dorm bathroom (oh so long ago) and providing some type of container like that makes it easier to share a bathroom cause you return with them, and easier to keep everywhere tidy. And with our dependence on digital devices today, a must for a guest room is something that says "recharge here cause every other outlet in the house is being used to charge our stuff" š Good ideas Cassie. What an adorable way to have extras supplies on hand for your guests! I am so guilty of forgetting my toothbrush…. (and yes, I have a "spare" room that ends up being my dumping ground- I like to refer to it as my "staging area"!)
Super cute! I need to find those phone caddies asap!!!
How cute is that room?!?! I'm going to send my in-laws to stay with you this summer since you have that room all fixed up. Don't worry…it will be fun…

My son's room while he is away at college is my dumping ground. He's far away and hasn't been home since January 2. Everything gets shoved in his room and the door closed! I've got 18 days until he's home for the summer. I've really got to get that room cleaned out! Last year everything just got moved from his room into the dining room. My house was a mess all summer long. This year I have to actually find a home for things. No home = donate to Goodwill.
Such a clever way to prepare for guests! Right now we still have a guest bathroom, so I'm thinking I'll totally try the pail thing in there this summer!
that little vase makes me smile š
Love the bucket idea! And, love that you take unused hotel soaps and lotions with you when you leave (I do the same) ;D
I am diggin that phone charger doohickey!

Hmm it seems like your website ate my first comment (it was extremely long)
so I guess I'll just sum it up what I had written and say, I'm thoroughly enjoying your blog.
I as well am an aspiring blog blogger but I'm still new to everything. Do you have any helpful hints for novice blog writers? I'd really
appreciate it.

I love the honesty about the guest room becoming the dumping grounds. We are all living the same life, just in different states!! A few little extra things I've done in my guest room are: (1) I made one of those chalkboard signs out of a silver tray (painted center with black chalkboard paint & left the silver rim). It's in a stand on guest room dresser, & I use it to write a personal note to guests or "Welcome, so-n-so"; (2) I wrap each set of guest towels in a ribbon. Looks pretty, & keeps that matching set together since not all towels for my guest bed/bath are exact matches; and (3) I bought some of the little laser-cut wood labels, painted them with chalkboard paint, and I tie them with thin rope trim to the drawer knobs to identify the things inside that the guest may need (towels, extra shampoo, etc). We have guests coming in for graduation, so thanks for the inspiration!
It's so fun getting ready for house guests š Love your little touches. xo Kristin
