You guys were so kind and supportive last week when I told you about the Dallas Morning News photoshoot! I read your comments throughout the day, and was feeling pretty good by the time the photographer showed up. She was scheduled to arrive at 3, but as soon as I had the kids dressed in their WHITE outfits (to not compete with the colors of the rooms), she called and pushed it to 5:30!
“Ack! Everyone out of your clean, ironed clothes!”
She started with shots of the kid’s rooms and their details. The sun cooperated, and Babygirl’s normally dark room was bathed in light.
Look at the size of that lens! I’m pretty sure she captured my pores in HD. Then she moved on to portraits of everyone. Babygirl had some action shots in her Art Center.

My son was a natural too. We cracked up when he asked the photographer, “Are we almost done, I feel like I’m losing my smile.”

Thankfully they put sibling rivalry aside for an hour, and cooperated with each other.
I changed clothes three times in the five minutes before she arrived. Which of course, didn’t end up mattering since all the pictures of me were basically head shots! Sort of like this, but with her GIANT lens about 2-feet from our faces. *cue panicked expression*

Mr. Sugarplum was so proud, he texted me not to worry about making dinner…he had it covered! The sweet man brought home my favorite!!
Our lives have had a big emotional bump recently, so we all enjoyed the break and celebrating together. It was a fun experience, and I think the kids felt really special. After all, that’s why I created the rooms for them. Hopefully everyone is just as happy when the article and photos come out!
And I know some of you will want my outfit details. I was a bad blogger and didn’t get a picture…but I wore white jeans, a navy sleeveless silk top, fuchsia patent belt, camel cage wedges and some chunky bracelets. Unfortunately all you’ll see in the pictures are my crow’s feet.
congrats on the photoshoot – when is it coming out??? i will have to get my parents to save me a copy! 🙂 Y'all look great and a well deserved honor for sure!
