{Outfit Inspiration} Madras & Pinstripes

There is no denying the power of Madras. It practically screams Preppy Summer! Or rather,

Preppy Summer!

And no one does Madras better than J.Crew.

Summer is a very long season around here, so I wear this dress as often as possible. Not only is it a fun pattern, but it’s chock full of colors. I have worn this dress with every color cardi imaginable, but today I’m mixing it up by tying a pink and white pinstripe shirt over the top. It’s subtle, but I love the mix of patterns.

To tone down the prep, I added some extra bling with a chunky necklace and bangles, and kept my shoes a little dressier.

I wouldn’t hose down my house with the pattern, but having a few touches of Madras at home and in my closet, certainly adds some classic, preppy fun!

What are your thoughts on Madras? Do you have a pattern you reserve just for Summer? Happy weekend, loves! My son leaves for another full week of Summer Camp, so I’ll be busting out the paintbrush to alleviate my anxiety!

  10. BEAUTIFUL!! I love the subtle mix of pattern. I feel like I tend to go a bit nautical in the summer. Bold navy & white stripes with red accents. YAY for summer!

  15. I had no idea madras was the name of a print! The only Madras I ever knew was a drink made with OJ, Cranberry & Vodka. Ha!
