{Outfit Inspiration} Chambray & Zebra

Animal prints have been prevalent in design and fashion for awhile now, and zebra is probably my favorite. I think it works almost like a neutral. But for this outfit, I wanted the skirt to take center stage, so I paired it with an even more neutral chambray camp shirt.

I love it with a touch of orange too, but I tried to keep this outfit more subdued. I tend to gravitate to the unexpected (much to my traditional mom’s chagrin). Yes, I said chagrin. I also say pardon, willy-nilly and crappola.

The good thing about photographing your outfits is being able to view them objectively. After seeing these, I’m not a fan of the orthopedic wedges with this outfit.

I have a long torso, so I usually wear my skirts higher than my natural waist…it makes it appear slimmer and my legs longer. *snort*

I also realized when I try a no-teeth-smile, I just look pissy. So back to big, toothy grins in the future. And how badly do you want that zebra as a pet?! Except we learned the hard way they can be mean.

Do you have much zebra in your home or wardrobe (or tied up in your backyard)? You can see this skirt in another outfit here.

  3. I love your outfit and the bedroom! I have zebra flip flops, a cheap end of season buy (for like $3) last year. Do they count? I also have a zebra rug in my office that I paired with teal curtains.

You look too cute for words! I like the shoes with that outfit; not ortho at all. ( I also happen to know you say ear bob on occasion.) Thought you'd post the pic of the aggressive zebra, too. Those skirts look so cute on you – helps to have a teeny little waist like you have! This is a VERY cute look on you šŸ™‚

  17. You know, after I looked at the skirt, the first thing that caught my eye were the wedges — I think they are so cute! My wardrobe is seriously lacking zebra. And so is my apartment. Must fix that. šŸ˜‰

  21. You look great in everything – wish you could be my personal stylist. When you don't have to "get dressed for work" you lose the ability to get dressed at all – or maybe that's just me. I need to branch out more often – I have no problem doing that in my home but in my wardrobe I'm pretty boring.

  23. Honestly, I think yours are one of the only posts that I honestly read just as much for the pretty pics as for the laughs I get from your commentary. Totally dying about the zebra comments and "chagrin". Totally use *every single one* of those words, too (c:
