{One Room Challenge} Let There Be Light

Welcome back to Week 4 of the {One Room Challenge}Let’s recap for those popping in for the first time…we’re tackling the ‘formal’ Living Room for this go-round (we did our Master Bedroom in the previous ORC)My goal was to create the feel of a jewel-box, with deep colors, lots of glam, and an element of drama, and I’m collaborating on the room with the most talented girl I know!

Week 1 I showed the Before shots and room layout, Week 2 was all about the Design, Plans, and a big fat Hiccup, and last week was major Demolition ZoneOkay, now that we’re all on the same page…let’s get after Week 4.

Let there be light!!

Hi Sugarplum |

We added additional overhead lighting with this aged brass drum pendant chandelier, and I’m already in love with the statement it makes in the room. We went with the largest size so it would really stand out once the shelves are finished and styled. I think it’s going to be exactly what the room needed to pull it all together and give it a center point.

Hi Sugarplum |
Such a pretty pattern and glow at night!

We also added additional light on the side wall with these classic aged brass sconces. This more affordable option was our first choice, but the aged brass was backordered past our deadline. Fortunately, Bellacor is one of our very generous sponsors! To simplify and minimize expense, we added just a single dimmer switch to operate both the sconces and pendant.

Hi Sugarplum |

I’m dying to see the mirror in place, but I’m not taking the chance given all the construction still left to do!

Hi Sugarplum |

The rest of last week’s progress came in the form of beautiful deliveries….

Hi Sugarplum |

I also stumbled on what I hope will be the perfect side tables…and bonus they are 25% off with code FURNSHIP!

I fell down the rabbit-hole of art at Minted….and six episodes of How I Met Your Mother later, I finally chose the accent art for the room. I can’t wait to see it all framed and in-person… especially Miss Idalia.

And finally, the drapes arrived and are so gorgeous and flawlessly sewn!!!

Hi Sugarplum |

But of course I want to add a little something-something to them, and ordered these fun trims from DecoratorsBest. I’m waffling between two…which one gets your vote?

Hi Sugarplum |

{Project List}

Built-in Bookshelves // Frame the unit and add shelves & drawers
Lighting // DONE!
Drapes // Arrived & waiting for trim
Paint // Ready & impatiently waiting
Seating // DONE!
Rug & Textiles // Waiting for one more pillow
Floors // DONE!
Based on the list, it seems we’ve made progress…but I’m feeling really behind! Painting everything is going to be a big job, but I can’t start until the bookcase is framed, and the shelves and drawers are installed! Not to mention, my assistant is on a permanent labor strike.

Hi Sugarplum |

I believe everyone has at least one week in the ORC where things stall a bit…or at least I hope they do! This was that week for me. I feel like I was really busy and productive, yet I don’t have a lot to show for it. Hopefully that means next week is a doozy of progress! Oh Lindawhat are the chances of getting an extension???
