Welcome back to Week 3 of the {One Room Challenge}. Ohmygosh…I just realized we’re at the halfway point!! Gah!! We had some good progress last week, but certainly not half-done progress! #breathe
Let’s recap for those just popping in, or who dozed off….we recently moved, so I had a whole house of rooms from which to choose for the ORC, but Mr. SP and I decided to put ourselves first this time (as opposed to last, like our previous home)…so I’m tackling our Master Bedroom!
Week One I showed the Before shots and room dimensions…and last week was all about the Design and Floor Plan.
Okay, now that we’re all on the same page…let’s get after Week Three. I’ve been swooning over dark walls for years, and figured it was high time I went for them myself. But when it came down to it…I started chickening out! You can see from my paint swatches, there were just as many light and mid-range options, as dark ones.
Then my aunt’s design advice popped in my head...’The only regrets I have, are when I played it safe.’ Deep, right? I knew I wanted drama, and a big wow-moment every time I walked in the room…and that doesn’t happen with a safe color…so I chose the same dark charcoal as we used in the Butler’s Pantry, SW Iron Ore.
I love it. Like, really, really LOVE IT. I thought the room would become a cave, but in fact, it’s quite the opposite. With all the natural light, white tray ceiling and chunky trim, and our light upholstered furniture….the room is bright, yet striking and dramatic.
We have all the same furniture as before, but it’s a completely different feel with these dark walls.
Out of desperation to get online, I set my computer up in this room when we first moved in…and here we are two months later. Not exactly the vibe I’m going for. #somuchforgrownsexy
I didn’t plan for the blue chair to stay in this room, but now that I see it against these walls, I’m rethinking that! Everything has taken on new life, and looks so much richer. Talk about the power of paint!
I love how crisp the white looks. I don’t love that fan.
I know the walls look a little different in each picture, but that’s how they are in real life as well. Sometimes they look black, or warm charcoal, and others almost navy. I love every shade and every time of day in this room.
So before you think I’m almost done with this room…let’s talk about what’s still left to do!
We’ve had our first hiccup…the nightstands I’d selected are on backorder, so I had to choose something new on the fly (six weeks, remember?!). They just arrived, and fingers crossed they work out!
The new bedding arrived this week, too, and I can’t wait to see it with the walls!
Things are moving along, but still so much to do!! #nowisthetimetopanic
It's looking amazing Cassie!!!
I knew you'd love those dark walls as much as I love mine! Can't wait to see it all come together! Thanks for reminding me about #grownsexy! 😉
I LOVE, LOVE dark walls! Yours look so FAB in this room! I can't wait to see it finished!! We are hitting in over drive around here as well to finish our kitchen makeover!!
I cannot wait to see what you do with the fan. I recently painted our master SW Grizzle Gray and had so custom bedding and panels made, which are mostly white with lime and hot pink accents. Our last project is the hideous fan. I don't love anything I've seen! But, we live in SC and cannot go without one.
So glad you didn't chicken out…..with so many windows in the room I love the dark walls! I have used that color before and it is the best!
Cassie the dark walls are glorious!!!!!! Your bed looks amazing against the black, I couldn't love it more. Plus all that natural light?? So beautiful. Loving this room! #nowisnotthetimetopanic #itwillallcometogether
What sheen paint did you use? I plan on painting my bedroom navy soon, and wonder if I should go flat/matte or an eggshell.
I recently took the `Dark Wall` plunge as well, but found that doing all 4 walls was just tooooooo much. It made the room feel like a coal mine !
I ended up with just one dark wall, but it feels just right for that sense of drama.
Great choice, I need dark walls SOMEWHERE in my life!
the paint looks fantastic! xo jillian – cornflake dreams
Dying to see the impact of those drapes!! Back to this week – the bed against that dark paint is so great, and I love the blue chair in there, too!
Oh I love the paint with your headboard. So good. I can't wait to see the drapes and bedding. Fun new computer???!
Wow! The dark walls look exquisite! You could stop there because the change is tremendous, but I can't wait to see the rest of the changes.
Love the dark walls Cassie 🙂 I was pinning the heck out of black wall rooms last night…I see a project on the horizon! xo
Love the dark walls! Best thing I ever did was have our bedroom walls painted dark navy. I think it's been three years now and I still LOVE them! Can't wait to see what you do on those gorgeous windows!
I LOVE the walls! And I think the blue chair looks awesome against the dark hue, can't wait to see more!
oh girl you will pull it off! and those walls! that chair! everything!!
Love, love, love the dark walls! Mine are not quite that dark but they are in the dark gray tone and they are the same way looking a different shade depending on the time of day, etc. I love every shade. Can't wait to see your finished product! You are going to be so happy to have your bedroom done first. Ever since the Lowe wedding I'm still trying to define "grown sexy"..hahaha
love the cOLOR!!!!
The dark walls look great Cassie!
Cassie,
Love the dark walls!! I agree, the dark colors play off the white carpet/ceiling & natural light! So pretty (I mean, masculine)!!

Love the walls!!!!!! I wanna go dark on mine now too!
Totally digging those deep hued, dramatic walls. Would love to do that in a room in our home someday. And I need to keep your aunts comments in mind, I feel like I am completely over thinking every decision I make. Your room is off to an amazing start lovebug!
I'm loving those dark walls and your aunt's advice is SPOT ON!! I was going to do my room white and then thought, 'what's the fun in that?' so pink it is 😉 The room is already looking rather fabulous, I can't wait to see what else you have in store for us! xxx
Cassie, I've been a fan of your design and just love that your in ORC! Wow, those walls are stunning! I our master bedroom last spring ORC, and the upholstered headboard with nailhead is a favorite of mine, but I love yours! Can't wait to see you pull this look together! Let's do this! I love the stark white against the dark walls. That blue chair looks fantastic against the wall, too. Amazing windows. You are so smart to do your room, first.
