One Cardi | Four Ways

Springtime in Texas is my absolute favorite. Although that doesn’t really hold much validity, since I think I say that about each new season. I just can’t help myself…I really do love all the seasons. Even August. Which in Texas, is practically it’s own season.

My favorite part of Spring, besides the sunny days and cool nights, are the wildflowers…particularly bluebonnets. There’s hardly a road or field not filled with the purply blooms, or photographers! They’re considered Texas treasures, so you can’t pick, mow, or trample them, but I’ll bet every Texan has at least one picture of their kids or family in the bluebonnets! It’s a Texas tradition!

Turns out, they were also the perfect backdrop for today’s style post! You know I like all my clothes to mix-and-match for countless outfits, and this single cardigan takes that to a whole new level! By simply changing how you tie it, you can create at least four different looks! (Never mind that the graphic says three…I’ll get to that.)

ONE // Open Drape

Hi Sugarplum | 1 Cardi 4 Ways

TWO // Loose Tie

Hi Sugarplum | 1 Cardi 4 Ways

THREE // Wrapped (there are small, hidden buttons to keep it in place)

FOUR // I actually didn’t figure out this fourth method until much later…but you do a loose tie, then wrap the ends and button in place on the sides. You can see how that looks here.

It’s such a lightweight, breezy layer, I love it open for a casual style and pop of color (it comes in 10 colors!). And they call this the ‘Perfect Tank’ for a reason. I don’t know about you, but my two-pregnancy belly requires fitted tanks to be thick, with a fair amount of stretch. Sometimes I’ll even layer two tanks for enough support and coverage…but this one tank does the job of two. And is super soft.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing a regular XS in both the cardi and tank.

Now let’s talk about these jeans…I’ve been on the hunt for new white jeans for months, and have tried no fewer than 20 pair! #nojoke #whitejeansareseriousbusiness They were all too thin, too low, too high, or too pricey.

I can get away with thinner jeans in a dark rinse (love these!), but white jeans tend to show all the lumps and bumps if they don’t have a certain amount of thickness. #aintnobodywantstoseethighlumps I also hate when the pockets show through!

But these are my Goldilocks of white jeans. I’d say Holy Grail of white jeans, but that might be a tad dramatic. The mid-rise hits at the right spot to be flattering, but still cover all the lady bits. They have just enough thickness and stretch to provide support and a comfortable fit. And finally, the pockets stay hidden, and they don’t break the bank!! See? Holy Grail Goldilocks!

Fit Tip: I’m wearing my normal size in these pics (size 26/2), but ended up exchanging for a smaller size because they did stretch out a little. Or maybe I’m part-hooch and just prefer tight jeans. #thatslikely But they are definitely Women’s sizing, as opposed to Juniors.

For a second easy look, I swapped the shoes and bag, and wrapped the cardi. This way feels a little dressier, perfect for a girls night or date. Or trade the jeans for a skirt or slacks, and you’re ready for work!

What do you think of this versatile cardigan? Can you picture all the outfit possibilities?! I love all the color options, but am partial to this particular shade of Bluebonnet! 😉

  4. Love the outfit! Could you share the sizes you chose for the tank and cardi? The nearest Nordstrom's is 3 hours away so I order on-line. It helps so much when you give size references. Nothing worse than when the goodies arrive and I didn't select the correct sizes. Thank you!

  5. Genius cardi!!! We were doing the bluebonnet thing when my son started stomping them. I was waiting for everyone in the field (half the population of Houston) to call the bluebonnet police and impose a restraining order against us for the safety of the bluebonnets, lol!

    • That's hilarious…and so true! I had a few pics where I'm reaching for a bluebonnet…just 'pretending to pick'…but I was worried the bluebonnet patrol would freak, so I deleted them! #noevidence 😉

I love the drape look! And the white jeans look amazing with the wedges! On an unrelated note, Austin's bluebonnets are pretty much already gone and that always makes me a little sad! Guess I need a trip up to Dallas ASAP

  8. I love all of your outfits and you are so tiny!! The problem I have with the jean (either dark or white) is that they are too short. I wish they would have longer styles. I am 5'6", short waisted with long legs, the jeans are too short for me. 🙁

    • Not a bad problem to have!! 🙂 I have these jeans cuffed several times to make them short enough to hit above the wedge, so maybe they'd work for you?! xo
