It’s almost the weekend, the sun is shining, and the Nordstrom Anniversary Pre-Sale is LIVE…it’s like Christmas morning and my birthday all rolled in to one!! I’ve been stalking the catalog for two weeks, drooling over all the new Fall goodies, and counting down the days until some of them could be mine.
True, it’s a little crazy to think about Fall clothes in the middle of a piping-hot Summer, but here’s the deal…this is not an end-of-season sale, it’s all the cute, new stuff coming out next season, but temporarily marked-down! I tend to look for closet staples and quality pieces that will be the foundation of my wardrobe for years to come. I had the chance to shop my local store yesterday (!!!), and have already found some amazing pieces I know will be Fall favorites.
I tried to style these outfits as I normally would for real-life…all the way down to the jewels and shoes…and it’s all in the Sale!
This cardigan was a last-minute addition to my dressing room, and immediately had me wishing for cooler weather! It’s really lightweight, soft enough to wear with a tank, and has just enough stretch to not lose it’s shape. I’m a sucker for the pockets and hood (which isn’t bulky at all!), and love that it can be worn tied or left open. The tee has been my favorite for years (in fact, I styled an entire 5 Ways series around it!), so I’m definitely stocking up on more colors, and a new white one!
Moving on to the jeans…these have just a touch of distressing, and are extra-sturdy with a touch of stretch. The earrings and initial necklace are both super lightweight, and I love the leather cuff so much, I wore it home!
Fit Tip: I’m wearing an XS in the sweater and tee, and a 26 in the jeans…so all true-to-size.

I highlighted and starred this ruffle track jacket in the catalog, and it was the first thing I hunted down in the store…and it did not disappoint! It’s like Sporty and Posh Spice made a jacket-baby! It’s a thick sweater knit, with ribbed collar and sleeves. And if the stripes didn’t make it cute enough, they went and added a ruffle at the neck and cuffs, and pleats on the shoulder.
The jeans are my go-to brand of late, but in a new fun distressed finish. They are lightweight and soft, with a mid-rise and tons of stretch. The hem is unfinished, but I just cuffed them to shorten a bit with the booties. Oh, the booties! More about those in a minute!
Fit Tip: I’m wearing a small in the jacket because that’s all they had left in store, but I think I’d prefer my usual XS. The jeans are true-to-size, and I’m wearing a 26.

Oh look, there’s my favorite tee again. This time I paired it with the cutest little cargo pants and statement necklace. The pants are a stretchy twill cotton, with flap back pockets and lots of stretch. They are darling now with sandals (or even sneakers!), and later with booties. The necklace is a light weight, without being overly delicate, and is a better shade of gold than my picture depicts.
Fit Tip: The pants are true-to-size, but I opted for petite for a more cropped fit. I’m wearing a 26P.

This blazer was the biggest surprise of the day, and probably the piece I’m most excited to style. It’s lightweight, but fully-lined, with a subtle gray herringbone pattern. I’ll pair it with everything from jeans to skirts, and dress it up for work and date nights. I forgot to flop the pic…but the tee reads, ‘Work Hard and Be Nice.’
The jeans have been my go-tos for awhile, and so excited to see them in the Sale! Mama Sugarplum will be thrilled, too, since she’s a recent convert. I mean, how can you resist perfect jeans for $38?!?!?
Fit Tip: Both the jacket and tee are true, I’m wearing XS. I do recommend sizing down one in the jeans.

Now for the pieces I knew without a shadow of doubt I’d love…this world’s softest cardigan, now available with a hoodie, and the color blocked tote. Let’s start with the cardi…I have this sister version, and have been completely obsessed for years. Seriously, I put it on the second I get home, and never take it off unless I’m leaving the house.
I’ve gifted them to both our moms, and any pregnant friends. It’s just the softest, coziest thing you’ll ever own…and now in this darling new silhouette! It’s cute enough to wear with jeans, but I get so protective of mine, it never leaves the house. You may think I’m strange, but wait until you feel it for yourself! It will sell out a this price, so get it now, and thank me later.
I’ve love this tote for years, but since it never goes on sale, I’ve never really considered it…until now.

Okay, let’s talk booties. I think I tried virtually every pair on display, and while I found a bunch of really great options, I’m narrowing down my top picks to these four. All were true to size for me, and the perfect mix of classic and edgy. The biggest surprise, and my favorite of the group, are the cognac block heel boots…just wait until you see them on! They look insanely expensive, and will only get better with time.

I was also excited to see several of my favorite pieces from last year’s sale are back, and all 40% off! They have become wardrobe staples, and you’re sure to see them again and again this year.
These bootcut jeans are probably the most-flattering item in my closet…the fit is perfection, and they have the magic ability to give me long legs. Plus, they’re super comfortable and easily dress up for casual office environments and date nights.
Fit Tip: They run large, so size down one. I’m wearing a regular 0 since the petite were too short for heels.

As far as skinny jeans go, these mid-rise are hands-down my favorites! They are soft and stretchy, and work great with sandals or booties, and even tuck easily into knee boots.
Fit Tip: They are true to size, I’m wearing a 26.
Even Mama Sugarplum is a fan…she grabbed them on our last shopping trip! With this crazy sale price, I think I’ll get a back-up pair!

I reach for this stretchy-knit pencil skirt for everything from work days to date nights. It’s incredibly flattering with a fitted waist and body-hugging shape. The seams help elongate the legs, and I love the classic knee-length. This is piece will never go out of style, and is a steal at $44.
Fit Tip: It runs large, so size down. I’m wearing a 0P.
Another fun skirt that works for a multitude of occasions, and looks darling with both heels and flats…this faux-leather pleated mini. I’ve worn it for work, and dressed down with a tee and flats for weekend. You could even pair it with tights in the Winter.

This color-blocked dress was a fun find last year, and I’m thrilled to see it back. The little collar and cuffs are such fun touches, but the scallop trim is what drew me to it.

Moving on….the best way to love rainy days is to invest in a fun pair of rainboots! I can’t believe Hunter boots are included in the Sale, so if you’ve had your eye on a pair, now’s your chance! I promise you’ll wear them so much more than you might think! And if you prefer a more traditional boot, these booties are waterproof!
I’m slightly annoyed, but excited for you, to see my recent puffer jacket now on super sale! I invested in this coat for our recent Scandinavia trip, and not only did it keep me snug as a bug, but it’s not bulky and folds down into a tiny pouch (perfect for packing!).
Fit Tip: I sized up to a small since I layer it over Winter clothes.
And lastly, I love oversized cardigans for Fall…such an easy look with jeans and boots. I fell for the longer lengths last year, and am happy to see a few new options available this year. This is a great option, and of course I’m completely obsessed with this one.

yes, I’m wearing an XS…but I likely wouldn’t layer it over anything bulky. I’d wear it like I would a jean jacket, over tees and thin sweaters. xoxox
Spent an hour shopping online, then Nordstrom site crashed and deleted everything from my cart. Wow, that’s Nordstrom quality?!

I haven’t been able to log into my account for over 3 hours now. This is RIDICULOUS. I’m tired of retail. I hope Amazon comes in and just devours EVERYONE including my beloved Nordstrom (of which I have been a cardholder for 21 years now).

Thank goodness My dog needed to go out and I did my Anniversary Sale shopping at 4:00 a.m. Was able to pick up your Favorite Tees , a couple pairs of jeans, and a cute Madewell military jacket. A splurge handbag is still languishing in my cart until the site is back up.

The Nordstrom’s crash appears to be rectified. Make sure to check your account so that duplicates are not mistakenly ordered. An error message appeared every time I attempted to complete the checkout process, but at 3:30 EST, my purchase magically went through.

The website crash sounds frustrating. I got up at 3 am and shopped. Then this morning added a couple other items. I have a barefoot dreams cardigan coming my way, lots of booties to choose from, the natori bra and a few other long cardigans. My husband’s office is across the street from Nordstrom so he’s picking my order up on his way home!

Hmmmm, that one is a little tricky. I suppose you could be a little edgy and pair it with a pencil skirt, but honestly I think it’s a jeans kind of top. You could certainly do white jeans for a twist on it, though! xoxo

The Maggy London ruffle dress doesn’t have a size 2 option on the Nordstrom website and I didn’t see it in the Tampa store today. So bummed!
