Happiest of Fridays, friends! I hope this week has been good to you. If you follow me on Instagram, then you saw the fun day Little Miss and I had shooting a video with JC Penney earlier this week…I can’t wait to share that with you! Plus, our son finally returned home from camp…already talking about going longer next year! I’m not sure my heart can handle more than two weeks though!
But let’s get down to the business at hand…today I’ve got a Kardashian-sized Dressing Room Diaries for you, featuring tons of my favorite finds of late. Most of it is included in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, but I found several other great things available to non-cardholders, as well.
And huge news…due to the (highly frustrating) website outage yesterday, Nordstrom is offering 10 points per dollar on all Anniversary Sale purchases made yesterday, through midnight tonight!!! TEN TIMES the POINTS! #breathe
The shots aren’t good, the lighting is bad, my hair is usually past it’s expiration, and many of the items aren’t a good fit for me…but it’s real life, real girl, real clothes…and hopefully helpful for you to see them this way, instead of perfectly styled on a model. I even drug Mama Sugarplum with me to give you another perspective!!! Let’s get after it, shall we? Maybe you should get a drank first…it’s a doozy!!
Fit Note: I’m 5’4″-ish, 120 pounds-ish (depending on the week’s taco count), with a slight pear shape. Mama Sugarplum is 5’1″, with an hourglass figure. Our usual size is XS/0.
I’m going to start with my favorite of the bunch…this jumpsuit perfection! I mean, how did I not know I loved jumpsuits…and how have I gone so long without one?! This one fit like a glove, and unbelievably comfortable (no tugging or adjusting like dresses sometimes require!) The shallow pockets are darling, and the optional tie-waist is super flattering.
Fit Tip: I’m wearing a reg 2, and it needs a slight hem. Petite sizing is available, but I’m too long-torsoed for that.

The cardigan game is strong in this year’s Anniversary Sale, but I’m to the point where I’m willing to pay a little more for extreme comfort…and this cardi fits that descriptor! I actually have another one that is my daily at-home lounger, so I’m considering adding this one for day wear. It would be unbelievable for travel, too. I shared this cardigan with you yesterday, but I wanted to show you how cute it is worn open, as well. It’s soft and lightweight, but not cheap feeling at all, and I’m a sucker for the hood. I’m so glad I found it in-store, because I’d never have ordered it from seeing the website pic!

These utility pants were another First Pick from yesterday, but I wanted to show you their versatility! I’ll wear them now with sandals, and into the Fall with booties. They are a nice change from jeans, and the color is the perfect neutral for a ton of tops.
Fit Tip: I’m wearing a 26P in the pants for a cropped length.

This outfit is so simple, but still so chic! I love this tee alone now, and under a jean jacket (or this blazer!) later. The jeans are a really nice fit with no distressing and a flattering mid-rise (perfect for casual Fridays at the office), and the tote is a classic. But the biggest surprise of this combo are the cognac boots!! It’s difficult to see in the picture, but they are a warm, rich cognac, with just enough block-heel. Some boots are ruined by the shade of the heel, but these just look crazy expensive, and I have a feeling will only get better with age.
Fit Tip: I sized up to a Small in the tee for a relaxed fit, the jeans are true and I’m wearing a 26, and I sized down half in the boots. But if you like a thick sock, I’d stick with your usual size.

This military jacket has a fun twist with a ruffly peplum ruffle and raw hem…it’s both darling and a bit edgy. It’s cute worn open over a tee, or buttoned closed. You could even pair it with a pencil skirt or wide-leg slacks for work, and it’d be fun with white jeans for a night out. And how could you not love extra-stretchy jeans for $40?!?!
Fit Tip: I’m wearing an XS jacket, which fit well, but the arms were a tad long. I tend to push my sleeves up anyway, so it was a non-issue for me. The jeans fit like a glove in my usual size 26.

Who doesn’t love a striped tee?! And this one is thicker than usual, with the added detail of a built-in cuff! It’s cute with jeans, but easily dressed up, as well. The jeans are my own (and favorites for awhile!) and on sale for $38. I don’t know anyone who doesn’t love them. And what did I tell you about those cognac boots…so expensive-looking, right?!
Fit Tip: I’m wearing my usual XS in the top, but sized down one for the jeans. Trust me.

Same great jeans, another darling graphic tee…this simple combo is easy Fall transition. The cut-out booties are going to be go-tos with jeans and dresses, too. I mean, once it cools down about 100-degrees.

I love the rich charcoal and soft fabric of this shirt, and the high-low hem gives it a fun shape. But it’s the split back that makes it special. And again with the boots…I’m obsessed with the cognac paired with black and grays!

Transition to cooler weather with this sleeveless cotton knit pullover, with loose cowlneck (not to be confused with MY loose cowlneck…but really, when did that happen?!? Getting old is not for sissies!!) and front pocket. It’s soft and perfectly relaxed, and comes in several great colors. I’m considering the soft pink for pairing with black and gray jeans. And please note the peep-toe bootie, and swoon accordingly. I did.
Fit Tip: The sweater is a regular XS, and the booties are true to size.

Then transition the sweater to even cooler weather by layering a long-sleeve tee…stripes are always my first choice.

I reach for my dark-rinse and distressed jeans constantly in Fall, so I like the idea of mixing it up with gray jeans…and these are super comfortable with a magic mesh panel that holds in the tummy. They are soft, stretchy denim with a cropped ankle length…perfect for booties.

You’ve probably noticed the constant repeat of my white tee…you know it to be a favorite of mine (I even styled an entire 5 Ways series around it!)…and I’m psyched to see it back in the sale this year! I always take advantage of the $17 price tag to replace my white one, and grab a few new colors (it comes in a ton!).

Who doesn’t love soft pullover hoodie sweatshirts? This one is extra special with a fun cotton poplin ruffle inset in the back…giving it a layered look. The sleeves are three-quarter, too. I’d pair it with jeans, utility pants, and even workout leggings.

Moving on to some dressier looks…starting with this ruffle blouse, that looks great worn with jeans, or tucked into a skirt or slacks. The blouse has a nice drape, with a subtle ruffle on the sleeve and down the side. It comes in a few pretty prints, and the price can’ be beat.
Fit Tip: I’m wearing XS, but could probably stand to size down one.

I love this preppy, yet flirty, look for the office. The wool skirt is fully-lined with a mock-wrap and slight a-line shape. The colors are navy, red and white, so it gives you lots of options for pairing, and you could add tights to take the skirt into Winter. The white top is a crisp poplin with a stiff ruffle and dips in the back.
Fit Tip: I’m wearing an XS top, and sized down to a 0P in the skirt.

This shift dress is both current and romantic with the cascading ruffle on one sleeve, and exposed gold zipper up the back. It’s beautifully made, full-lined, and the crepe skims the body just enough to show subtle shape. It comes in black, but this red is a head-turner.

This stretchy knit dress is both casual and sassy, and shows off your curves without being too risqué. I like the longer length and exposed shoulders. You could throw this on after the pool, or wear it to dinner…the black and shape makes it super versatile.

Let’s talk pajamas…I have these pants, and wear them on the regular! They are a lightweight, almost fleecy pant…but somehow still silky soft. This size is too big on me, but I wanted you to know they’re on sale. The striped tee is in the pajama section, but don’t be surprised if you see me wearing it with jeans. I mean, it’s rainbow stripes!! I also caved and ordered these, too.
Fit Tip: I’m wearing XS tee and it’s roomie, and wear a small in the pants.

As for activewear, I stuck with my go-to brand…and wasn’t surprised I loved these high-rise leggings and zip-up jacket. And do you see what I see?? Pink tennis shoes!!!
Fit Tip: I wear an XS in their pants, and always size up to a small in tops and jackets. I sized down half in the shoes, but I don’t wear socks with them.

This swing dress is both striped and racerback, so I was powerless against it! It’s linen-blend, so it’s lightweight and textured. I’ll wear it to the pool and running errands.

This stretchy knit dress feels soft and cool, with just enough swing. I love the elastic at the halter neck, and deep blue color. Plus, it’s 40% off!

I knew I’d love this blouse since I have…and adore…the dress version. Pretend I’m wearing the right bra, but isn’t the back so lovely? The cornflower blue is so pretty, too. I’d wear it with white jeans, or tucked into a skirt. ‘ It’s 40% off, too! #bonus

A mock-neck and drop waist gives this dress a fun mod feel, but with a modern pattern. It has vertical ribbing for a stretchy fit, and nips in at the waist a bit. You could dress it down with flat sandals, or add some bling and heels for a night out.

Fit-and-flare is always a good idea…it’s such a flattering silhouette on everyone. This dress feels sturdy and structured, with perfectly placed darts for both the bust and waist lines. The print is modern and appropriate for both the office and evenings out.

This floral one-shoulder dress hugs the waist a bit, then kicks out with a fun, ruffle hem. It’s hard to focus against the busy wallpaper, but the print is the right scale to not overwhelm smaller frames. The top is lined with silicone to keep it in place with no slipping or tugging.
Fit Tip: I’m wearing a regular 0.
Mom wasn’t as comfortable with the one-shoulder, and needed to size up one to accommodate her bust and waist.
Shades of blue set this maxi dress apart from the others, plus it’s a soft jersey knit with built-in bra. The cross back straps are adjustable, and thanks to the petite sizing, I don’t need to hem it! It’s 40% off, too!
Fit Tip: I’m wearing XS petite, but if you’re busty, I’d go up one.
Watercolor Maxi Dress (40% off!)
We both adored this eyelet peplum top, but it does require a cami. I’d stick with black on black, or white with nude…the orange is just too tricky to match, and it just looks like your bra is showing through. But the top is darling and super structured.

And finallllyyyyyy, can you tell from our giggles we loved this sturdy top with ruffled sleeve?? So many great colors, and it looks great untucked with jeans, or tucked into skirts and pants. Tons of colors, and great sale price, too.
