Little Lady Style

Our little Miss is equal parts girlie-girl, and tomboy (or tom girl, as she calls it). She is growing up so quickly, we almost see a change in her every morning when she wakes up. It makes me excited for all the experiences she has ahead her, but a little weepy that my days of being able to carry her are numbered. #oldback

She’s the flower girl in my sister’s wedding this Summer (in Montana…can’t wait for that!!), and I know Mr. SP and I will be blubbering messes watching her walk down the aisle. But while she’s super excited for the wedding, she’s not thrilled about all the dresses I’ve made her try on for the different events coming up.

To make the experience more pleasant for me her, I ordered several options from Nordstrom (my go-to for kid’s special occasion clothes), so she could try them on at home. We found a few winners, and the rest I’ll ship back using their free returns. To celebrate, I bribed her let her dictate our afternoon activity…she chose a train ride to her favorite little breakfast spot, and insisted we wear our new dresses.

We’ve taken the train on several occasions, but this time I taught her how to read the map and buy her ticket.

I dread the day she stops slipping her little hand in mine.

The horse tights and leopard flats were her touch…wonder where she gets that?!

Thanks to your encouragement, I ordered this one-shoulder dress when it went on sale last week. Surprisingly, it holds everything in nicely, and is really comfortable. The color is lovely, too…and just so happens to be my sister’s wedding color accent! It comes in 21 other colors (find them here)...and here’s a two-strap version if you prefer.

We were certainly the best-dressed gals in the diner, but we had a fun time, and our little flower girl is  ready for her big dress (I think it’s going to be this one)! Have your kids been in weddings? How did you ease their nerves…and yours?!

  1. Her touch with the tights and shoes make it so much fun!!!! She is just the cutest thing 🙂 I love it so much when my girl holds my hand. I'm going to pretend that she'll never grow out of it even though that time is already sneaking up on me.

  2. You both look fabulous. I love how she mixed the patterns!
Random question… I'm trying to learn decide between Google AdSense and Blogher – which do you use/recommend? Any good or bad experiences either way?

    • Thanks Claire! I've used both in the past, and had great experiences. In fact, you don't have to choose…you can use them both! BlogHer does limit outside brand collaborations, but still a great option! xo

  6. I'm so glad you got that dress- it looks amazing on you! Your little girl is a doll, and I know my girls would love her dress. She definitely reminds me of my Ella- mixing prints and just owning it 🙂

  8. She's such a cutie and you both look beautiful. I totally get the hand in yours feeling….I tell Carly Jo all the time how much I love her little hand in mine. I really hope I have some grandbabies to fill that space up before she stops!

  9. My Chloe has the same horse tights but she's never thought to pair it with leopard flats. <3 that look. I remember when I was a flower girl that I felt so special… my hair curled, a little bit of lip balm. I felt just like my mom which is what your girl must be feeling in these photos. Great memories for your two!

    • Thanks for the comment and your honesty, Dakota! Granted, we looked a little silly all dressed up, but sometimes as parents, we do what we have to in order to get our kids on board with certain things! I remember when my son was 2, he refused to put a suit on (he was a ring bearer in a wedding)…so to get him comfortable with wearing it, we took him to Chuck E Cheese in it!! And it worked…he loved it by the time the wedding rolled around! 🙂 xo

AGREE. could this be more staged? usually i'm loving this blog, but this is so overtly sponsored, it's killing me

    • Sorry you aren't a fan of this one, Kristy! True it's sponsored, but the content and opinions are genuine and authentic, and I was thrilled to be approached by Nordstrom for a collaboration. Not to mention, the opportunity to make a little money to do something I love so much and help pay for new house renovations!! xo 😉

  13. You both look beautiful!! Love that color on you. Where in Montana is the wedding? I grew up there and got married there before moving to the DFW area 12 years ago. If you need any ideas of fun things to do while there don't hesitate to ask.

  20. This is such a sweet post. I just wanted to say hello! I took a break from blogging a while back and haven't managed a return, but I have remained a faithful (pretty much daily) reader of all my fave blogs, which of course includes yours. I usually read at night while I'm up with my littlest baby, reading on my phone one-handed and as such don't comment, but thought I'd pop in to leave one quick comment to say hi. The new house is looking so fabulous. Hope things are really wonderful for you and am loving coming along for the ride as you start this new chapter!

  22. I love the flower girl dress you chose! We used Us Angels for our wedding as well. Also, I hope you don't mind me saying, but sponsored posts do not bother me at all. I think it's amazing that you are able to monetize from doing something you love! Especially from someone as reputable as Nordstrom! I mean, let's not pretend that we don't all want more Nordstrom! XOXO
