Sugarplum Style, Vol. 18

Cheers to Friday! Even though it’s now technically Fall, we’ll technically still be in the pool this weekend. But you won’t catch me complaining! Maybe I can get my lazy butt to do something productive, too. Fat chance since it’s also Mr. SP’s birthday weekend!

It’s time for another Sugarplum Style…snapshots of my everyday outfits, created by mixing-and-matching items in my closet. However, it seems there was significantly less mixing this month, since I reached for the same pieces over and over. And thanks to the sporadic weather, it’s a mixed-bag of seasons, too!

You saw this dress in my {Island Style} post, and even though the back is exposed, I couldn’t bear to limit it to beaches and date nights…so I threw on a jean jacket and called it work appropriate.

Hi Sugarplum | Sugarplum Style

I could run this same pic in every Sugarplum Style post…the exact combination is in constant rotation. I love how the necklace pops off the black, and dresses it up a bit.

I’ve shared a few Fall looks already (here and here), but this was the first day I could genuinely wear one in real life. However, it was short-lived and I was back in shorts by the afternoon. #falltease

Hi Sugarplum | Sugarplum Style

Packing for my trip to NYC last week, I had Fall hopes. (All the scoop on that trip coming next week!)

Hi Sugarplum | Sugarplum Style
Washed Oxford | Distressed Jeans | Booties | Earrings | Plaid Bag

Remember this look from my {5 Ways} Transitioning to Early Fall? This shirt is so soft, and I’m a nut for this necklace! The beads give it a little visual weight, which is perfect for heavier patterns like this plaid.

Plaid Flannel Shirt | White Cut-Off Shorts | Necklace | Watch | Leopard Sandals

Bonus when your outfit coordinates with the floor.

Striped TankInfinity Scarf | Distressed Jeans | Booties | Crossbody Bag

I’m convinced I need a gingham shirt in every possible color…they just make outfits cuter. The colorful tassel bracelets don’t hurt either!

Tassel Beaded Bracelets | Watch

White jeans after Labor Day? Yes ma’am! (In fact, see a whole post about it here.)

Linen Top | Graphic ShortsNecklace | Leopard Sandals | Monogrammed Striped Bag

I took pattern-mixing to the next level with this one…that’s a pattern trifecta! The skirt is super old (for you longtime readers, you may remember it was the most asked question from our Paris {Trip Report}!), but I linked something similar. The edgy necklace keeps the whole look from looking too sweet.

Fall scheming….a girl can dream, right?!

This fun {Date Night} look is coming to the blog next week, but I loved it so much I shared a sneak peek. My exact shoes are sold out (I posted them on Facebook when they were marked 50% off…did you grab them then?!), but I linked a very similar pair.

High Neck Swing Dress (great length!) | Fringe Sandals | Clutch | Earrings

And lastly, this is actually a Dressing Room Diaries snap, but it was so popular I thought I’d share before everything sold out.

Hi Sugarplum | Sugarplum Style

I hope these posts inspire you to create new combinations from your closet! The key isn’t to have more clothes, but to mix up what you do have in new and different ways. Except for new booties like these or these (on sale!), you’re gonna to need those. #enabler

You can catch up with past installments of Sugarplum Style here, or follow my everyday-style outfits on InstaGram. Make sure you’re following my Facebook page, too…that’s where I post deals, steals, sales and goodies! Happy weekend, lovebugs!

P.S. Did you know you don’t have to wait for these posts to get my outfit details? Just click that ‘Shop My Feed’ widget in the sidebar, and it takes you directly to each pic with links to what I’m wearing. #whatwilltheythinkofnext

    • Thanks, Kylie…I love pairing gingham with floral! As long as the floral print is larger than the check, you're good to go! xo
