Happy Thursday, friends! I’m still grinning from my fun shopping day with Mama Sugarplum! We hit up our local Nordstrom to scout some of the best styles and products in this year’s NSale, and they did not disappoint! (Find the entire sale HERE.)
In fact, we found way too many to share… so instead of sharing everything that caught our eye, we’re only sharing our absolute favorites… the things we’d buy for ourselves. And in many cases, we did buy! This is our very favorite sale of the year, and we use it to refresh old items, stock up on go-tos, and even grab some holiday gifts.
The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale opens to all cardholders TODAY, so whether you’re shopping now, or adding to your Wish List, I hope our post helps you navigate what your closet needs most! (The NSale opens to everyone on July 17!)
Fit Note: I’m 5’4″-ish, 125 pounds-ish, with a slight pear shape. My usual size is XS/0. Mama Sugarplum is 5’1″, with an hourglass figure, and her usual size is XS/2p.
Denim //
Let’s start with denim…it’s always one of my favorites, and usually yours, too! And fortunately, we found some really amazing styles that fit great, are super flattering, and on trend… not to mention, most all of them are under $80!

This style was the biggest surprise find, and you’ll notice I wore them more than any other style in this post! I just kept reaching for them as the best fit and wash for most of the tops. They’re high-rise with a fairly straight leg and a little flare at the hem that makes them perfect for sneakers, sandals, mules, and booties. But even better, is they are so super-soft and lightweight, but with enough stretch to hold things in. They also don’t have any distressing.
Fit Tip: I’m wearing a size 26… I liked the slightly looser fit of the 27s through the leg, but assuming they’ll stretch some.

The Kut from the Kloth Rachael Mom Jeans have been your top seller for the last two years, and I think you’ll agree this year’s style is great, too! They have a higher rise with a comfy amount of stretch, and in a great lighter wash for spring and summer, too. The only distressing is a chewed hem, but you could easily clean that up if you prefer a little less.

A similar fit to the Racheal jean, these Kut from the Kloth Reese jeans are high-rise, nice and stretchy, but have a clean hem and no distressing. These made Mama Sugarplum’s top list, too.

Wit & Wisdom always makes a great jean, and this straight leg pair did not disappoint. They have the comfy absolution panel around the waist that makes them fit and feel like a dream, plus a darker rinse and frayed hem. We loved the pocket detail, too.

A bonus style I liked were these Mother jeans in a super-dark black rinse. They’re high rise with lots of stretch, and a wider leg throughout that gives them a dressier look.

The Barefoot Dreams lounge set is always my favorite splurge item, and this year’s style is the best yet!! A longer, wide leg pant, with a tunic style v-neck, it’s like being wrapped in a hug! Imagine it… being wrapped in head-to-toe Barefoot Dreams goodness! Mom has already requested them for Christmas!

Mama SP makes a beeline to the lounge section every year specifically for these pajamas! They’re her absolute favorites, and the price is so crazy-good during the NSale! They’re lightweight jersey knit with a cool, silky finish, and the prints and colors are so cute.

I know it’s July, but we found a few classic styles that are always closet staples, starting with this cashmere crewneck that’s under $80! It’s lightweight and soft enough to wear on its own, but easily layers over a collared shirt, too. It comes in a slew of colors and makes a great gift.

You probably recognize this Farm Rio top from my Wishlist (see that HERE)… I couldn’t scoop it up fast enough! I love the bright colors and fun floral print, and it’s super lightweight cotton, making it perfect for steamy days.

Mama SP grabbed both of these tops, and I have to agree they’re darling! The plaid is a cool, woven material with nice drape, princess sleeves, and a yoked front. The white one has an a-line peasant fit with a Swiss dot texture and full sleeves. It’s a lightweight cotton.
Fit Tip: I’m wearing a size XS in both, but would prefer a size up in the plaid.

These classic shirts button all the way down and have nice longer lengths that fully cover the bum. The plaid is a soft woven material with a peachy finish, and the chambray a more traditional cotton. I love the flap pockets and tunic-style shape.

These shirts are a splurge, but I assure you worth every penny! I treated myself to one last year, and reach for it all the time (with jeans, over a swimsuit, thrown on with cut-offs). It’s so lightweight and gauzy, you barely feel it on your body, and it’s perfectly relaxed. It’s hard to describe until you’ve tried it for yourself, but there’s a reason they have such incredible reviews.

These button-downs (or is it button-ups?!) are the perfect crisp cotton poplin, with great structure and long, oversized fit. The collar and cuffs are extra crisp for easy cuffing and collar-popping!

A no-brainer flutter top that easily dresses up or down, the neck is a stretchy smocking with darling ruffle details. It’s a woven material with either a cute print or textured dot. The black pants were an exciting find since great-fitting black trousers are so hard to find! They’re crazy soft and stretchy, in a nice thick material and flattering wide leg.
Fit Tip: I’m wearing a size XS top and 2p pants (which feel a tad short, so I ordered a reg 2).

You know we adore the Caslon Scoop Tee… which is only $12 during the NSale (I always get a new black and white one!), but this year they added a v-neck option. It comes in a ton of colors, and is so lightweight and soft.
Fit Tip: We size up to a Small so we can toss it in the dryer.

Every closet should have a military/utility jacket… period! They are the best Fall layer for everything from light sweaters and tops to transitional dresses. Plus, the style adds a touch of edge that make outfits so stylish. This new cotton twill is a great option, with a hidden drawstring waist to give a more flattering and feminine fit, and the price is bananas!! (The darker one is actually navy, and beyond cute!)

This quilted puffer is a darling layer for jeans and athletic wear, and the material is so soft and comfy! It’s lightweight and falls to the hip, so it’s cute worn open or zipped. I didn’t love the drawstring, but that’s easily pulled out.

You know I headed straight to the Farm Rio rack, it’s one of my favorite brands, and rarely on sale. These dresses have such fun prints, the mini dress is lightweight cotton with a belted waist and full sleeve, and the longer is a stretchy woven material with smocked top. The platform sandals are surprisingly comfy, and come in neutral shades, too.
Fit Tip: I’m wearing a size Small in both, but would prefer an XS in the short dress.

One of my favorite dress silhouettes, I love this style with sandals now, and with booties for transitioning to Fall. Plus, the pink floral just makes me happy! The sleeves are sheer with smocked cuffs, and the waistband is wide and stretchy.

Channeling my inner Jackie-O with this stretch crepe sheath dress. I love the little pearl details and front pockets. I’d probably remove the bow at the collar, but Mama SP loved it.

Another fun floral, this one perfect for early Fall with deeper shades of plum, green, and red. It’s a woven material with sheer sleeves, lined through the body, and great with either heels or booties.

Athletic Wear //
You know Nordstrom delivers when it comes to athletic wear, and mom and I had the hardest time narrowing down our Zella faves! This new lilac was my favorite, and I wanted pretty much every style in it! The long sleeve tee is soft cotton, and a great longer length for layering with leggings (fully covers the bum!). The leggings are buttery soft with the perfect 7/8 length for my frame, and even pockets to hold your phone. I love their longline bras for a tank-meets-sports bra fit.

This jacket was on my early favorites list, and I couldn’t wait to see it in person! The front is a nylon material with lots of utility-style pockets and a high neck, but the sleeves and back are a super-stretchy ribbed knit. I love the style, but the sleeves are crazy long!

This was another favorite color we found… it’s a purply/cobalt blue in person. The cotton quarter-zip is a cropped style with contrasting threads, and the tennis/pickleball dress so darling and comfortable!

I love Nike sweats for their super-soft fleece and cozy, oversized fit. This classic set is a true sweatpant, and so cute paired with the slightly cropped sweatshirt. Nike running shorts are some of my faves for working out, with the loose leg and built-in undies, they’re so comfy. And under $20 during NSale!
Fit Tip: I’m wearing a size XS in the sweats (they’re oversized!) and size Small shorts.

I tried on no fewer than 30 pairs of shoes, and these were the styles that stood out most to me. I had no intention of buying another pair of loafer mules, but these were just too cute to pass up! I also brought home the ballet flats, cowboy boots, and booties.

I didn’t see a whole lot of handbags and accessories that impressed me this year, but these hats and scarf are definitely winners! I also picked up these beaded gold hoop earrings.
