Dressing Room Diaries - Hi Sugarplum!

Happy Friday, friends, and cheers to the weekend! I know this was a short week, but didn’t it just fly by?! I’ve been busy prepping for our next GxHSP Collection shoot, so things are getting cheery over here! We’ve got lots of volleyball on the agenda this weekend, and maybe even a quick visit from Mr. College, so fall decorating will have to wait. Did you catch my cute Fall Decor Finds yesterday? Today I’ve got an all new Dressing Room Diaries, chock full of the cutest new arrivals for early Fall! It’s a mix of retailers from Nordstrom to Old Navy… but I don’t want you to judge the shirt by its label, so they’re all mixed in! My job is to find the cutest things, at the best prices, and I think you’ll love these!

You know the drill with Dressing Room Diaries… the shots aren’t good, the lighting is bad, and I’m in desperate need of a hairbrush. But it’s real life, real girl, real clothes… and hopefully helpful for you to see them this way, instead of perfectly styled on a model. So let’s get started!

Fit Note: I’m 5’4″-ish, 125 pounds-ish, with a slight pear shape. My usual size is XS/2.

Dresses //

We’re kicking things off with dresses this month because we have a new GxHSP dress!! Yes ma’am, we took the most popular Decked Out Day Dress from our Summer Collection, and gave it a Fall update!

Made of an incredible new lightweight material, perfect for the season, it has the same darling ruffle neck and relaxed, tiered shape, but we added long sleeves and a little puffed shoulder. Tops //

This is my favorite type of transitional top… it looks like Fall, but feels like Summer. Made of a luxe knit, it has a darling ruffle collar and relaxed elbow sleeve. It comes in several colors, but I’m partial to the oatmeal.

I wore this last week on my Instagram Stories, and my messages blew up for link requests! Made of a cotton poplin, it pairs well with shorts and jeans, or dresses up with black pants and skirts. The flutter sleeve and pleats at the neck make it super feminine, too.

A classic work to weekend top, this Swiss dot is fully lined with a flutter sleeve and button front. It comes in gorgeous colors, including this bold pink.

Oh hello sassy!! I’m ready for a date night in this fun lace top…that’s actually a bodysuit! But not only does it fit like a glove and stay tucked in, but the bottom half is made of a soft jersey knit, so it’s comfy, too. It has a flattering halter neckline that does show a a tiny bit of side boob. Comes in black, too.

These jeans are faves from last year…I love the cropped length with the little kick at the ankle.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing an XS bodysuit, and size 27 jeans. I sized up one for a less body-con fit.

This top has both sweet and sassy vibes, and so versatile. I love the sheer puffed sleeve and square neckline, but it does have horizontal gathers that are best for smaller chests. It’s also on the cropped side, so you’ll want to pair with high-waisted bottoms. Comes in a gorgeous rust color, too.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing a small top, and size 26 jeans. Jeans relax and form to your body after a few wears.

Another work and weekend top, this chiffon top easily dresses up for work or date night. It has smocked mock neck and flutter sleeves for a feminine, dressier style. It comes in several solid colors, and this fun leopard. (Pairs really cute with black denim, too!)

Fit Tip: I’m wearing an XS top, but would prefer a size up. Size 2 jeans, but I cuff them under for a more cropped fit. Mules are true-to-size.

Shirts //

It wouldn’t be Fall without plaid! I’m incredibly picky when it comes to my plaids and flannels though, as some tend to go lumberjack masculine really quick!

This button front not only comes in beautiful shades of blue, but has a feminine ruffled collar and a little pucker at the shoulder! It’s really soft, and wears well tucked or out.

This plaid is a great oversized fit, in a soft brushed flannel. Another tip for keeping shirts like this more feminine and flattering…undo an extra button and cuff the sleeves to show a bit more skin. Opening it up adds a little sass factor.

Wear it tucked or loose, and even tied around your waist with leggings for an easy Fall look.

Another feminine option, this plaid has a banded collar and full sleeves with an elastic cuff. It’s made of 100% organic cotton, with a lightweight and loose fit, in the perfect shade for Fall.

Pullovers & Sweaters //

You know I love something when I wash and wear it before I even show it…such is true with this striped sweatshirt! You may recognize it from my recent Faves Under $50…I’m smitten with the color combo, and soft oversized fit.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing a small sweatshirt, sized up for relaxed fit. Shorts are a 4 and jeans a 2. Sneakers are true-to-size.

I don’t care if it’s 90-degrees out…I want to live in this sweater! Made of the softest yarn, it’s a great weight with lots of stretch and the perfect casual fit. And bonus, it’s 40% off now!

Fit Tip: I’m wearing an XXS sweater, def size down! White jeans are size 2, distressed jeans are a 27 (I sized up for a more boyfriend fit).

A classic sweatshirt, but make it cute! This one is a really soft and stretchy knit, with a loose funnel neck. It comes in the best vibrant colors, and easily works with denim or joggers.

I wore this top last week too, and it’s already a top seller for the month! It’s a soft, thick sweatshirt material, and I can never resist puffed shoulders for added feminine detail. It’s on the fitted side, so while it feels comfy, it’s not sloppy.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing an XS sweatshirt, but there’s little give, so size up if in-between.

Jackets & Blazers //

Add this staple to your closet STAT! It’s the perfect cardigan meets blazer, and looks effortlessly chic and pulled together. Wear the collar popped or down, and layer it over everything from collared shirts to tees and tanks. It’s made of a sweater knit material that has good heft, but still drapes well.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing an XS sweater, but size up if you plan to wear it over layers. Jeans are a size 2.

Do you hear the hallelujah chorus singing?! My hands-down favorite, go-to boss lady blazer is back in stock! And in tons of colors, including this fun bold pink! I’ve worn it to everything from date night to business meetings. Made of a thick cotton knit, it’s lined in a contrasting satin fabric that makes for easy wear and a cute pop of pattern if you cuff the sleeves.

I have it in several colors, and it’s easily one of my top 5 five items in my closet!

Fit Tip: I’m wearing an XXS blazer…a size down for a more shrunken fit. I also only wear it over tees and tanks, so don’t need more room in the arm. Jeans are a 2.

I have a closet full of jean jackets, and I have to say Old Navy makes one of the best! They are incredible quality and fit, with so many rinses. You know I live in my jean jackets in all transitional weather…so cute over sundresses right now! These are two of my faves.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing an XS in both jean jackets.

Lounge & Pajamas //

This shorts set is softer than soft, in a brushed cotton knit. It’s lightweight with a relaxed fit, and cute as a set or wear the hoodie with denim.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing a small in both pieces, which fits a little large, but will likely shrink in the dryer.

Mama Sugarplum is going to be H.A.P.P.Y. about this find!! Her hands-down favorite pajamas now in this cute new style! I love the jogger fit (great for us shorter gals so the pants don’t drag the ground!), and an easy pullover v-neck. They are the same jersey knit that’s cool to the touch, and launders well. They come in solids, and this fun leopard.
