Happy Valentine’s Day, lovebugs!!! I hope you have fun plans for the weekend with your sweetheart! We’re headed home today, just in time to celebrate with my little Valentine. I’ll probably just grab her chocolates and a snow globe from the airport (she collects them from our travels), and we’ll have a cozy night at home. Do you hit the town for fancy dinners and dates, or keep it low key?
Today I’m excited to share a new Dressing Room Diaries with Mama Sugarplum, and it’s a GOOD one. So many incredible new pieces for the transitional season. I grouped these posts by retailer for awhile, but here’s the thing… I work really hard to find the absolute cutest things from each spot, regardless of price point, and I’d hate for you to overlook something because of a pre-conceived retailer opinion! So this one is back to grouping by clothing category… let me know what you think.
You know the drill with Dressing Room Diaries… the shots aren’t good, the lighting is bad, and I’m in desperate need of a hairbrush. But it’s real life, real girl, real clothes… and hopefully helpful for you to see them this way, instead of perfectly styled on a model. So let’s get started!
Fit Note: I’m 5’4″-ish, 120 pounds-ish (depending on the week’s taco count), with a slight pear shape. My usual size is XS/0. Mama Sugarplum is 5’1″, with an hourglass figure, and her usual size is XS/2p.
Tops, Tees, Pullovers & Sweaters //
This sweater had me at stripes… and a pink stripe at that! Plus, it’s crazy soft and stretchy, and I love the v-neck and longer length.
Fit Tip: I’m wearing an XS and it’s a little oversized.
Mama SP is in an XS, and it fits her great, so I’d size down if in-between.
My favorite cozy fleece pullover now comes in a slew of new spring colors, including this vibrant and flattering bright blue! It’s lightweight and soft, and perfect for layering under jackets.
Fit Tip: I’m wearing XS, but I’d size down.
Mom so gorgeous in the cobalt blue. She’s wearing an XS.
A lightweight cotton sweater with the cutest fringe trim and pops of soft pink and blue. It has a subtle boatneck, but is still bra-friendly.
Fit Tip: I’m wearing an XS
One of the softest, stretchiest sweaters I’ve tried this season, I love the light weight and relaxed shape. Plus, it comes in a ton of great colors and stripes, and has a split hem and longer length for wearing out.
Fit Tip: I’m wearing an XS
It’s such a great weight for transitional season, and super soft and comfy. Mom wearing a small.
Another spring-perfect sweater, this mock neck is light and soft, with a ton of stretch. These stripes are so bright and fun.
Fit Tip: Mama SP wearing a small
I’m always a sucker for a hood, and this sweater is a flattering and classic fit with great texture. It’s soft and lightweight, and would be so darling layered under a blazer.
Fit Tip: I’m wearing an XS.
Mama SP is in a small.
One of the softest finds this month, this pullover is cute and sporty with an easy fit. I love the pouch pocket and relaxed cowl neck… so cute with sneakers or flats.
Fit Tip: I’m wearing an XS.
I shared this sweater on Instagram Stories a few weeks ago, and it’s already a top seller for the month. It’s beyond cute with the best color stripes for spring, plus it’s stretchy and soft.
Fit Tip: I’m wearing XS.
Mama SP’s fave find this month, we both loved this sweatshirt tunic in bold camo or leopard print. A soft cotton that’s sturdy, but not heavy, it’s long enough to cover the bum and has a flattering size slit.
Fit Tip: I’m wearing XS
After much deliberation, Mom finally decided on the leopard print (she adored them both!)… and took home the small.
Speaking of spots, how adorable are these tops? Both are an easy woven material with cute black and white print and ruffle neckline. The long sleeve option has elastic wrists to be worn long or pulled up to the elbow, and the sleeves option is gorgeous alone or under a blazer.
Fit Tip: I’m wearing an XS in both.
Two more blouse options, I adore the floral print and gorgeous colors of these work-ready tops. Wear them with trousers and skirts for the office, or more casually with jeans and flats. They’re both soft and drapey woven material.
Fit Tip: I’m wearing XS in both.
I was instantly smitten with this fleece hoodie jacket, and have already worn the camo version several times this month. The body is sherpa-lined, but the sleeves a lightweight fleece, and I’m a sucker for the contrasting drawstring! It’s darling with jeans or joggers, too.
Fit Tip: I’m wearing XS
Can we talk about the camo with pink tie!? It’s too cute! Mom wearing an XS.
Pants & Jeans //
Okay, so let’s first talk about the tee…. I love the subtle graphic ‘Amour’, and the black and white makes it perfect for layering under almost any jacket or blazer. Plus, it’s silky-soft, giving it a bit of a dressier feel than a standard tee.
The pants are a darling plaid print and sturdy, yet stretchy to fit all the curves. There’s also no gaping in the back and a great ankle length. So cute with heels or flats for work, and sneakers on the weekend.
Fit Tip: I’m wearing small tee and size 2 pants.
I’ve had my eye on Levis for awhile, but I’ve yet to find a style that suits me. But what I realized is they are 100% cotton… so no stretch means a tighter fit in the beginning, but they’ll give to accommodate and form (and hold!) to your shape in time. They also run small, so sizing up made all the difference in the world!
I adore these and can’t wait until they become like a second skin. They have a high-rise and button fly, and are fitted through the hips, but straighter through the leg. They’re also cropped, making them perfect for booties, heels or sneakers. Levi’s are all my dad ever wore, so they remind me of him, too.
Fit Tip: I’m wearing a 27, so definitely size up one. If you’re used to a lot of stretch in your jeans, these will take a little getting used to, but worth it!
If you want a pair of high-rise jeans that are soft and fit like a dream right from the start… these are for you! They’re buttery-soft with a fair amount of stretch, and a good weight for spring and summer. I love the dark rinse and button-fly, too. They have a raw hem, but I’m considering having them shortened a bit and adding a true hem for a more finished style.
Fit Tip: I’m in a 26, but they stretched after a day of wear, so size down if you’re in-between.
Loungewear & Pajamas //
Now let’s get to the good stuff…. the pieces I seem to wear more than any other these days… loungewear!! This set is unbelievably soft… made of the SignatureSoft sweatshirt material Lou & Gray does so well. The top is crewneck with slim arms, while the pants have a jogger fit through the leg (slimmer towards the ankle) and back pockets.
I prefer the darker shades for more coverage. They also wash and dry beautifully.
Fit Tip: I’m in an XS in both pieces.
If you follow my Instagram Stories, then you’ve seen me wearing this set more often than not… it’s probably my fave find this month!! Insanely soft and lightweight with the cutest navy leopard pattern, I literally can not stop wearing it. It also washes and dries beautifully with no stretching out or shrinking.
Fit Tip: I’m wearing XS in both pieces.
One of the cutest jogger pants I’ve seen, I’m smitten with the sport side-strip and cropped length. They’re a thicker, traditional sweatpant material, perfect for lounging around the house or wearing out with sneakers. So cute with a jean jacket, don’t you think?
As for true pajamas, Mama SP was thrilled to find these!! They’re her very favorite pajamas, but in a new v-neck shirt style!! They’re also sold as separates, so you can get the fit you need for top and bottom. Insanely soft and silky, they’re a great lightweight.
Fit Tip: I’m wearing an XS and she’s wearing a small.
Dresses & Jumpsuits //
Oh hey cutest little jumpsuit!! I love the classy, yet sassy style of the ruffled lace, and the cropped length is fun for spring with heels. The top is stretchy lace, and fully-lined from the bust down. The bottoms are wide-legged in a stretchy crepe material, with flattering box pleats at the waist. I love the cropped length for heels this spring.
Fit Tip: I’m wearing a 2p, but would prefer a regular 2 because of my long torso.
I don’t even know where to start with this dress…. it’s one of the cutest I’ve ever seen!!! The collar, the sleeves, the pleated ruffles… it’s all so fun!! The body is a thick, stretchy crepe that fits like a glove, and so comfortably. The fit and flare shape is flattering, and the details so feminine. I honestly love everything about it!
Fit Tip: I’m wearing a 2.
I love every second with my precious Mom, and am so grateful for all the time we get to spend together now!! Did you know she helps me with Hi Sugarplum almost every day now?? She lives about an hour away, so we try to get together every few weeks, but probably talk on the phone three times a day!
She just always makes everything more fun, plus, she gives the best advice!
Okay, that’s it for today, I hope you found some new goodies and enjoyed the post as much as we enjoyed creating it! If you missed our last installment of Dressing Room Diaries, check it out here! And if you’re looking for Amazon finds, check out my February Fashion Faves HERE.
