Cozy Christmas Style

Cheers to Friday, friends, and the first weekend of the Christmas holidays! Thank you so much for your sweet comments on our Christmas tree this week…I’m excited to share more of our decked-out home in the coming weeks. I’ve heard some of you are having problems receiving email feeds (that sucks!), so hopefully you aren’t missing my daily posts!

The next few weekends are chock-full of holiday parties, but also a lot of casual family and friend gatherings, that call for relaxed, cozy styles. Today I’m sharing two easy, yet still stylish, outfits that are perfect for a cozy Christmas afternoon. And eating. #keepingitreal

You may remember this fleecy pullover and scarf from the latest {Dressing Room Diaries}…I’m pretty much obsessed with both, so you’ll be seeing a lot of them this season. I love the unexpected combination of pink, red and navy in a Winter-wool scarf. And the hoodie pullover…well, it’s so comfy and soft I’m not convinced it’s not really a pajama top!

It’s a relaxed, generous fit (I’m wearing an XS), and is long enough to cover all the lady bits, but is a little sheer. I layered a tee underneath for some extra warmth, and was perfectly comfortable. It comes in several great colors…this is the ‘blue rain drop’, but I think I might need to add a gray one to my closet. Especially while it’s on sale!

Finally…leggings that stay put on your waist, and are opaquely thick! Most leggings get saggy, or are sheer in spots so you see the fabric weave, or worse, your skin underneath…but these blackout leggings keep it all covered and hidden. But without cutting off your circulation. #winnerwinnerchickendinner

This outfit would be equally cute with any cognac or black knee-boots…I just always jump at the chance to wear my new rain boots.

Now for our next Cozy Christmas look…we’re swapping the leggings for distressed jeans, and replacing the comfy fleece pullover with a comfy fleece cardigan wrap. You aren’t really all that surprised to see me in the kitten-cardi again, are you?!

I just can’t help but reach for it when I want to be cozy and comfortable, but it never fails to get compliments either. It’s pretty much replaced all my sweatshirts, even for bumming around the house. I’m wearing a regular small for a bit more room and length.

I usually layer a simple tank underneath because I love the feel of the fleece lining, then mix it up by wearing it buttoned, or open with and without a scarf.

And yes, absolutely pair black and brown…just keep with a lighter, cognac color, instead of chocolate brown.

Nothing fancy or cutting edge in the fashion department, but good every day outfits that feel cozy, and look pulled together, are winners in my book. It doesn’t get much better than that, right?! Well, unless you throw in some Christmas Crack. What’s your weekend uniform this time of year? Happy weekend, lovebugs!

I ordered the exact 1st outfit and it comes today… I'm so excited! The scarf is a beautiful color combo. I got the grey on the cozy top. Thanks for all of the cute outfit ideas! Inch by inch my wordrobe is getting a make over. Do you pack away summer clothes? Do you often do closet clean outs to make room for new stuff?

    • Come over and lets twin!!! I do pack some things away, but our weather is fairly temperate, so most of my clothes are seasonless…I just add or subtract layers to make them work. That way my wardrobe stretches further. And yes, I'm a pretty obsessive closet purger, always a donation bag in the works. xo

Oh, you just HAD to bring up the Christmas Crack!?! Just kidding. I'll be right back. I am sure I have all the ingredients in the kitchen. Cute comfy looks. I want both scarves. And the funnel neck. And a new cardi…I cannot bear to put the kids on the bus in the morning in my PJs, so this will fit the bill.

    • YES! That's what I love about these tops…they feel like pjs, but look stylish like you made an effort! And don't get me started on that crack…I've made and inhaled two batches already this season!!

You are such a fashionista. I always know if I need an idea, this is the place to come. I follow a couple beauty blogs that they have NO style. They are fantastic with hair and makeup, but I so wish they'd stick to that! Which carries over to home decor! Have a great weekend!!

    • Thanks so very much, Melissa! I don't know about fashionista, but I do love coming up with new ways of wearing my usual stuff!! I'm thrilled you find inspiration here! xo

  9. Love both outfits — and thank you for sharing your favorite leggings! I have been wearing Target leggings for what feels like 100 years and go through them like crazy! Holes, opaque thighs, etc. It's nice to read a real review about leggings that look great.

    • I have too! these are a bit pricey, but I think they'll last for a few years, at least! And I find myself reaching for them every other day! xo
