Thanks for the love on my blingy sequin trees yesterday! Since I still have a finger indention from pushing in 1087 the pins, I went with a quick and painless craft next….a cinnamon stick hurricane candle.
I’ve seen several variances of this project online, but of course I had to give mine a different twist. I wanted something bigger than a votive for tabletop decor, so I chose a large glass cylinder. The cinnamon sticks are from the craft store.
A simple glass container is useful to have, so I didn’t want the cinnamon to be a permanent addition. I simply snapped the sticks to the desired height, not worrying about perfection. Then using the glass as a guide, I hot-glued them to each other (not the glass). Just a dab of glue wherever the sticks connect is all that’s needed.
The heat activates the cinnamon, and it smells incredible while you’re making it!
Then slide the cinnamon back over the candleholder, add a strip of ribbon and a candle. Of course I chose pink ribbon, since my colors this Christmas are “blush and bashful.” (You’d think I have a strange affection for Steel Magnolias, as often as I quote that movie!)
I think the natural vibe of the cinnamon candle is a perfect juxtaposition to the blinged-out sequin trees!
Never one to stop while I’m ahead, I used the scrap pieces of cinnamon to make a votive candle for the kid’s bathroom.
And the great part is, once the cinnamon loses it’s potency, I can just slide it off and throw away.
Have a great weekend, loves! I’m finishing my mantels and tree for next weeks Christmas Cheer Link parties! What are you up to?

That's so Cute!!! Can you spell the Cinnamon when the lass warms up? Just curious! But it looks fab even if it doesn't! I just started a Holiday Party come by and link this and your sequin trees up!!
Great tutorial! I love that you used the remnants as well. I haven't seen that done before but it looks perfect in the kiddos bathroom.
That's so cute! Your place is like a winter wonderland. 🙂
Fun and easy. You couldn't ask for anything more. Great idea!
Ummm, I love the smell of "activated" cinnamon! 😉
But seriously, how easy is this?!? And I love that you used two sizes! I bet the burning candle inside "activates" the cinnamon again too! I'm going to do this!
That's such a simple idea to make the house smell delicious! I'm totally going to try that this weekend, thanks for the great idea.
Perfect project! I want to try this too (I've seen this on Pinterest, I think) 🙂
