Hello from the frozen tundra! No, we didn’t travel north this weekend, but rather, Texas was hit with a big ol’ ice storm. We’ve been stranded, under 4-inches of solid ice, since Thursday night. If you follow me on InstaGram or Facebook, then you saw video proof of our idiot antics. Our lives and schedules are always so busy, so it’s been nice to slow down and be homebodies together. Especially since our home is decked out in our most colorful Christmas yet!
My friend Chris of Just A Girl is hosting a mac-daddy Christmas Home Tour all week, and I’m thrilled to kick it off today. Warning: this post is one giant photobomb. So grab a cocoa, spike it if you can must, and enjoy wandering through our house this season. Don’t worry, I won’t report you as a stalker.
Fresh wreaths from Trader Joes / Mini trees from Home Depot
Front Porch Makeover, including Monogrammed Rug, found here
We’ll start the tour in our Living Room…which has been undergoing a makeover for years awhile, but we’re thisclose to being done. You can see all the projects here.
Everyone knows it’s really all about the tree, so let’s move to the Family Room (makeover progress and projects found here) for this year’s color-blocked version.
Are you still with me?! You probably need to refill your drink…I’ll wait. Okay, next up is the Entrance Hall (makeover found here), which is home to the cutest little pink tree.
If you’ve made it through this full tour, you deserve a cookie. Good thing I’ve been home for 4 straight days and I’ve done nothing but bake…and eat! Why is it so impossible to be housebound and not eat everything in sight?!
Thank you so much for stopping by, and for all the new readers joining us today, feel free to nose around…starting with our House Tour and Project Gallery. A very merry holiday to you, lovebugs!
Grab your eggnog and go say ‘Hey’ to the rest of the tour peeps!
OMG!!! I am a red & green girl myself but your home is making me rethink all of that!! What a fun and festive home with so much color. I can feel the merriness coming from your photos! Lovely, simply LOVELY!
Too many things to comment about….the framed napkin, the photo gift tags, those wreaths, and that gorgeous tree!!! All so beautiful!!! And where did you snag up that red/white entry rug? Cute, cute!
I was on my 3rd cup of coffee & Baileys before I even started your home tour. Your home looks amazing year round but wow, it SINGS during the holidays!! Can't wait to read about your shiny ball. I never say no to shiny balls. xoxo
I have drank enough coffee this weekend to keep me awake for a week! Love your Christmas decor because we have the colorful thing goin' on, too. Now if only I could make it out of the house to get to Hobby Lobby. I appreciate this snow day but I am just about over it!
Wow Cassie! As always, you have a beautifully styled home. I don't even know where to start! I love the framed napkin and the fresh greens everywhere. I also like that its not traditional red and white but super colorful and festive!
Your home is gorgeous Cassie!! I love every single thing. The fresh greens are beautiful. And I love the way you wrapped your pillows to look like presents. So beautiful!
Absolutely gorgeous holiday decor! We decided to go really simple this year with just a tree and our stockings. I'm just in love with all the colorful accents you placed around your home. Beautiful!
The house looks so great! Love all the bright decor! Hope you're staying warm. I have yet to venture out even for sledding because I'm boring. Also I have the little one!
OH EM GEE!! I am dying over that BEYOND gorgeous tree! The ombre is stunning!! Love all the little details throughout the house, like tying your pillows up like packages. Genius!!
Oh My Goodness Cassie! Your house just makes me happy! All of the bright colors are so cheerful, and I just love it! I especially loved the ribbons you tied around your pillows. Such a simple, but festive touch!!!!!!
I can't decide what I like best but every single thing makes me happy – such a happy, exuberant, joyous home….like its inhabitants. Not my usual taste, but DROOLING over the crazy little pink tree in the entry. Bring it to me.
Your house is so fun! It's like walking into a candy store. I love it Cassie. The tree is wonderful, adore the pink candles on your mantle, the pillows tied up with ribbons as packages….I like every detail! Your house is a happy house!
This is the first time I have ever visited your blog, so exciting I live in Texas too, dfw area and man that was a crazy storm! I rarely find Texas bloggers so that's cool. But what I am really excited about other than your adorable Christmas decor is your house!!! Every house I walk into in this area is red and gold or some shades close to that. It's so nice to see something different. I just want to say ladies get with it, move into some new colors!!! I'm going to take a peek around and see what all you have done to your house, very cute!
It's a good thing I didn't stalk you until now, or else my house would have looked like a mini clone of yours. I love it all!! So many pretty colors and the ribbon around the pillow? The cutest! Happy holidays beautiful!!
Thank you for this home tour. You have beautiful house. It's feel like I'm visiting your house right now.
Merry Christmas and Best Wishes for a Happy New Year! Bring you Good wishes of happiness.
Sorry for greeting you earlier,, just don't want miss saying this. By the way, I'm Clotee. It's my first time visiting your blog. I am blogger too, and now try my best luck to open an e-shop. Nice to know you.
Even though Christmas is only a week away (only 7 more days, people!!), I’d normally still be decorating and whipping out seasonal projects. But now I have a sudden urge to nest, to hunker down with my family and hold them close. Instead of running around, I want to be still and savor all this season has to offer.
Our house is a safe haven, and my most joyful place…especially this time of year! I kept the decor minimal, but the colors bright….here are some of my favorite spots.
The boys are allergic to real trees, so I get my tree-smell fix with live wreaths tied with glittered tulle on the front doors.
The Living Room houses our tree this year, with doses of bright jewel-tones splashed around.
We spend most evenings in the Family Room, so I wanted to give it splash of Christmas, too.
I took these pics Saturday morning, so of course the TV was on!
And we added just a few small touches to the Breakfast Room and Kitchen…like this furry runner (more on that tomorrow!), and last year’s Scented Pine Cone Wreath used as a centerpiece.
The kids love this year’s Advent Calendar, and only a few tins remain unopened!
And finally, the Dining Room table has a display of mini-trees running down the center. I’d show you more, but I’m trying to finish the drapes first!
I was inspired by Megan’s photo tutorial post last week, and tried to create one of those bokeh shots that’s all the rage. I didn’t quite get there, but I thought it was still a pretty picture.
I’m pretty sure the 50mm lens to take this shot is under the tree. Probably because I ordered it and told Mr. Sugarplum it was my Christmas present. I’ll still win an Oscar with my surprised expression Christmas morning, though.
So that’s the tour of Christmas at our house. I’m sharing it with Courtney today, for the Christmas Cheer link party…and I hope you’ll come check out all the other gorgeous spaces!
Everything looks SO beautiful Cassie! You are such a talented decorator and blogger! I have thoroughly enjoyed your blog this year! Wishing you a Merry Christmas and Happy 2013! Angie xo
I'm with you…LOVE eavesdropping on the nativity scene play. Last year Carter was super concerned that baby Jesus didn't have a bahpo (paci). This year the wisemen want to ride dinosaurs! Love your house at Christmas. It looks SO festive!
It IS a perfect time to hunker down and savor. I loved the Nativity scenes around the house. Lovely and homey and colorful and restful all at the same time.
My daughter used to love playing with the nativity scene too! And I have the exact same bowl that your pinecones are in 🙂 Your house looks beautiful!!
I absolutely LOVE all your colors and decor! It is so fun and festive. I did a little giggle however at the big red elephant next to the nativity – he looks like he is thinking about trampling the baby Jesus and his family. Hee! Your home is gorgeous!
Everything is gorgeous Cassie! I love the colors! I'd written up a post yesterday about jewel-tone Christmas decor and scheduled it for tomorrow. Then last night I was reading your blog and saw your pretty decor so I added a picture and a link to you in my post. It goes up tomorrow morning at 9. Love your house all year round, and it's so especially pretty at Christmas time!
For the bokeh: 1. put more distance in between you and the lights (stand farther away) and 2. Focus on something close to you (not the tree/lights) Sometimes I'll stick my hand out, focus on that, pull my hand away (while the focus is still locked by pressing the button half way), and then shoot.
Your house looks so beautiful! Love the tree there in front of that wall of windows – just gorgeous! You are going to LOVE your new lens!!! Merry Christmas friend! Enjoy your sweet family!
It looks amazing Cassie!!! The framed napkin is brilliant and the photo gift tags are adorable!!!
Wow, so many different looks and I loved them all. Yes, I refilled my coffee mid way and came back for each and every photo. 🙂
