Happy hump day, friends! The holiday season is in full-swing now, and I’m already looking for ways to slow it down! Mr. Sugarplum and I were able to slip away to dreamy Big Sur for a couple of nights last month, and I’m so grateful for the chance to reconnect before the craziness of the holiday season!
As you may recall, we were set to celebrate my big birthday in Mexico, but when our passports came up missing the night before… we had to pivot! Fortunately the airline let us re-route, and we were able to grab a last-minute room at a hotel that’s been on my bucket list for decades… Alila Ventana Big Sur.
I quickly swapped my suitcase full of sundresses for a pile of Vuori favorites, and off we went!

La Ventana exceeded every expectation, from the service and grounds, to the views and food. It’s definitely a splurge, but the rates are all-inclusive and you feel spoiled and pampered from the moment you arrive, making it a great spot for special celebrations and milestones.
And since all we did was lounge, eat, and hike the property… my suitcase full of Vuori was all I needed! I packed Studio Pocket Leggings and Mudra Plyo Tanks for hikes, and Performance Joggers, sweatshirts, and this Sedona Half Zip pullover for lounging.

The property is built seamlessly into the mountains, using native materials and foliage, and I don’t think there’s a bad room or view! The service and amenities are crafted around giving you the best experience and helping you take full advantage of the stunning area.
Headed out for a hike? No problem… a gourmet picnic will be delivered to your door. Don’t forget the binoculars stocked in your room!
Too tired to walk to dinner? Cool… room service is included, and they’ll even throw in fresh-baked cookies and extra fire bundles.
From full breakfast overlooking the Pacific and nightly s’mores, to pool-side lunch and in-room snacks… it’s all included. La Ventana is so peaceful and beautiful, with plenty of trails, food options, and a heated pool and spa, so we rarely even left the property!

You know Mr. SP is as Vuori-obsessed as I am… so no surprise it’s pretty much all he packed, too. If you’re still shopping for your man, you truly can’t go wrong with the Sunday Performance Joggers, or anything in the DreamKnit material! He also loves the new Echo Insulated Vest.

The hotel is located in the center of Big Sur, so you’re only a few minutes’ drive from all the best sites and restaurants… like Pfieffer Beach and Nepenthe (both a must!!).

It was the most peaceful weekend, and the best spot to reflect on the last 50 years, and dream about the next 50. The fact that Ventana Big Sur was one of my dad’s all-time favorite hotels, just made it even more special! What hotels are on your bucket list?

One of the most interesting hotels I ever stayed at was Mt Kenya Safari Club. It’s on the equator on top of Mt Kenya with an animal orphanage next door. We stayed in one of the cottages (think stone lodge with woodburning fireplace). Storks and vultures strolled past me. Colubus monkeys hanging around in the trees. It was magical.
