Hi Sugarplum!

A Fresh Spring Table

April 29, 2019

Happy Monday from California!! The Sugarplum Team (aka, Mr. SP, Mama Sugarplum and I!) arrived last night with a mountain of luggage and too much excitement. Today is all about the prep, then we start shooting the all new Gibson x Hi Sugarplum Collection tomorrow!! I still can’t believe I’m saying those words! Y’all know it’s because of you, right?! Your support is unlike anything I’ve ever experienced, and it makes me work so much harder to bring you fresh new styles and inspiration every day!

Be sure to follow all the fun (and a few sneak peeks!) on my Instagram Story, and stay tuned for more details and the big announcement! I loved all your guesses for what we’re working on next, and let’s just say, more than a few of you were correct.

But let’s chat decor today, shall we?! Obviously Christmas is all about the holiday decor, but for the other seasons, I stick with mostly textural updates and refreshes. For Spring, I swapped a few throw pillows and blankets, and brought in flowers and stems. We have several celebrations this season, too, so I set a fresh, new table with updated linens. And thanks to Macy’s Friends & Family Sale, the prices were almost too good to be true!

Our Dining Room is one of my favorite rooms in the house, and a space we actually use often! It’s so bright and cheerful, we’re all drawn to it for homework and meal time. And when I’m working on big projects, I love spreading out and working here for a change of scenery.

I love setting tables for holidays and different occasions, and find the easiest way to change things up is with linens. I stick with mostly white dishes, so they coordinate with every season and decor. Plus, placemats and napkins are usually inexpensive, and easy to store (unlike multiple dish sets!).

Sugarplum Style Tip: Don’t have full matching sets? Don’t worry! Just choose coordinating pieces and alternate them in a pattern on your table. For instance, the pink and white bowls in my table.

Covered Dish | Embroidered Napkins | Faux Flowers

The colorblock placemats are a sturdy cotton, and will be perfect for all our Spring and Summer tables. The embroidered napkins were too pretty to pass up, especially at 30% off! I love that the set coordinates, but doesn’t match completely. That gives the table a little more gathered style.

The glass goblets take the everyday up a notch, and come in a set of 6 for only $21 with code FRIEND. They’re our everyday glasses, too, and perfect for everything from water to wine.

The buffet is the perfect place to display desserts, or set up a drink station…that way the food becomes part of the decor!

I adore fresh flowers, but I’m not Oprah and can’t bring them in every week…these faux arrangements are the next best thing! I arranged them down the middle of the table for a centerpiece, and will scatter them around the house later. They make a big impact when clustered together, too.

Salt & Pepper Set (only $7!!)

The Macy’s Cellar line is my hands-down favorite for serving pieces! They are amazing quality and have every piece you need, from gravy boats and covered dishes, to chip and dip and tiered platters. Plus, the sale prices can’t be beat (30% off with code FRIEND!).

Sugarplum Style Tip: I choose white for all my base pieces so they fit with any season and decor.

Covered Dish

So tell me, do you focus your energy on the table or the food? I’m a table-setting girl, all the way! I can’t wait to set an outdoor table in our new patio space when Summer finally arrives! And have you seen the new Coton Colors collection at Macy’s?! I’m literally swooning!! Grab it while the Macy’s Friends & Family Sale is hot!

Pretty table; alas the link to the faux flowers leads to floral patterned dinnerware instead. You were probably thinking about packing for the trip instead. I’d be excited too….

Thanks Patricia! It’s actually linking to the page of the entire Collection, I think the flowers might be sold out though! I’ll watch for a restock!

Can you please share the brand/pattern for the dining room wallpaper. I know you have had it a while but I’m having a hard time finding a blue geometric for my ceiling and this might work.
    Thanks

Hi Jen! The wallpaper is from a local Dallas artist, Ann Jackson, who has turned her paintings into paper!! You can find her online!
