Yellow Espadrilles | Three Ways

Cheers to Friday! We had a rainy and chilly week, so we’re looking forward to the warm sunshine ahead. In fact, our little foursome is currently road-tripping south for a few days at The Woodlands Resort.

I have a mountain of things to do in preparation for our big Mediterranean trip (we leave Thursday!!!!), but we’ve had this weekend on the books for months, and knew the dedicated family time would be much-needed before our two week separation. #gulp I’m a little anxious about being gone from them so long, but beyond excited for all we’ll experience! You know, the usual maternal guilt!

For today’s Fashion Friday, I’ve got the cutest Summer shoes you’ve ever seen. In fact, I’m pretty sure even Dorothy would ditch her ruby red slippers for these darling yellow espadrilles! I would normally gravitate to the cognac ones, but turns out, the sunny yellow are just as neutral and versatile.

Yellow looks great with virtually every color, but I have a weakness for pairing it with navy or pink. Remember my mom’s cute floral top from our Mother’s Day Tea? I liked it so much I ordered the polka dot version for myself…and bonus for it being on sale!

Fit Tip: Most espadrilles feel like walking on cardboard blocks, but these actually have flexible, cushioned insoles! I’m almost always a solid 7 1/2 shoe, but I liked the fit and feel of a size 7 so much more…so I’d recommend sizing down half. And Caslon is a solid brand I’ve always had good luck with, so I expect them to last several Summer seasons!

Sugarplum Style Tip: While browns and blacks sometimes seem more versatile and neutral, a lighter hued shoe like apricot, nude, or yellow, is much more flattering with white jeans since they don’t stop the line of your leg, or make your outfit visually bottom foot-heavy.

For a second look, the yellow espadrilles upped the chic factor in this basic jeans and a tee outfit. Although, my love for these tees is anything but basic.

I have the tee in several colors…the white appears sheer, but nothing actually shows through, and I have no problems when worn with a nude bra. This striped one is another of my favorites.

Fit Tip: I have both XS and Small in these tees…some I just like to fit a little roomier. It’s fairly long, but comes in petite sizing if you prefer your tees shorter. My white one is an XS regular.

I’ve worn these jeans pretty much non-stop…so soft and stretchy, and just enough distressing. I think I’m mostly smitten with the ankle-length, frayed hem. (Remember to size down one…assuming they come back in stock!!)

For the last look, I paired them with this ridiculously cute romper. I mean, if I were a romper, I’d be this romper. Fun pattern, all the best colors, flattering v-neck and nipped-in waist, and pockets. Oh, and it’s racerback! #swoon

This entire get-up is already in my suitcase…perfect for wandering cobblestone streets, and easily dressed-up for evenings on the ship! There’s even a darling maxi dress in the same pattern, if you’re not much on rompers. Or just obsessed with this pattern like me!

Random tangent…but this has to be the largest leaf I’ve ever seen!!?? It’s twice the size of my significantly large head!? It’s not like Dallas is known for it’s bounteous foliage, so it was definitely unexpected.

So have I proven my case for the versatility of yellow espadrilles yet?! Which was your favorite look of the three? I could have kept going with more outfits…the yellow coordinates with most my closet…but we were sweating too much after three. 😉  Happy weekend, lovebugs!

OMG those shoes are so stinking cute!! I esp love the with the jeans and white tee!! I, however, have fat ankles so I don't like things tied around them to draw attention. SO I am going to have to search for a pair that color that doesn't tie like that. Great post!!!

You are just the cutest! I love everything! In fact, 4 of the pieces shown are now on their way to me! My husband thanks you, lol. What color are your BP aviators? They always appear blue or green in your photos, but the link is to the yellow. Just want to make sure I order the correct color. Thanks!!

    • LOL…I'm glad this post was a hit with you! I hope the pieces all work out, too! xo Um, so, I actually have all the colors of those aviators. At only $12, I just keep adding a new color to my collection. These today are the blue/purple…and all should be shown in the link. xo

  10. That romper is adorable on you; it would be perfect to take on your cruise, along with with that great beach bag for requisite pool lounging! Hoping you'll give us a sneak peak next week of what you're packing…

Love that romper in the first photo! And I've determined that yellow goes with EVERYTHING. My son has a mustard yellow beanie and even though we have a whole drawer of different cool beanies for him, I swear he wears that one with pretty much every outfit he owns! Love it!
