White Jeans Love

Cheers to Friday, friends! How did your week go? We had a pretty non-eventful one, which was perfectly okay!! And somehow, we have no major plans for the weekend, either! Not sure how I scored that, but I’m going to soak it up! What about you?

But let’s get down to business with today’s Friday fashion…and I do mean business! We take white jeans very seriously around here, and obviously I’m a huge fan since I’ve based not one, not two, but three entire series around them! (See them here, here, and here.) Actually, you’ll find a ton more white jean inspiration just by searching ‘white jeans’ in my nifty little search bar (that magnifying glass in the corner).

I’ve had a single go-to pair for a few years, and they’re finally starting to show some wear. Darn, time to go shopping. #saidnooneever But instead of re-ordering the same ones, I went on the hunt for another perfect pair. You know, the Goldilocks of white jeans…not too tight, not too low, not too sheer. And wowza did I find them!!

So I did what every normal girl does when she finds the holy grail of white jeans…styled them two ways and shared it on the internet!

And when I say I went on the hunt for white jeans, I mean I ordered at least 10 pairs, in a variety of sizes and lengths (thank goodness for Nordstrom free shipping and returns!!). I tried designer brands, budget-friendly, and everything in-between. Well, maybe not everything, but it certainly felt like it in my marathon try-on session! #victim

Sugarplum Tip: When searching for something specific, like jeans, special occasion dresses, or even worse…swimsuits, take advantage of free shipping and returns at places like Nordstrom, and have them shipped to your house. That way you can try them all in the comfort of your own home, with the proper shoes (and lighting!), and see how they’d work with your existing wardrobe.

So the winning pair for me?! The pair that had the perfect amount of stretch, has hidden pockets, thick enough to smooth out the lumps and bumps, and a comfortable (appropriate) mid-rise…The J.Crew Toothpick! Which funny enough, I found at Nordstrom! Did you know they carried J.Crew now?! It’s a good thing, because I likely wouldn’t have discovered how great these jeans fit otherwise (I don’t often shop directly with J.Crew, simply because their shipping is slower, and return policy not as liberal).

I know I’ll be dressing them up for work and date nights, and throwing them on with sandals or sneakers for casual weekends. One of my favorite combinations is this Spring classic of white and chambray, with a touch of leopard for good measure.

Fit Tip: I found the jeans true to size, and the perfect length for heels and sandals (petite sizing is available if you are shorter or prefer a more pronounced crop). I’ve worn them several days, and they have stretched out a little, so make sure they have a snug fit when determining your size.

The mid-rise felt most comfortable for me, but my mom picked up the J.Crew High Rise fit for herself. She said those run true to size, as well. They are a bit pricier than my other favorite pair of white jeans (definitely size down in these), but considering they get more wear than another pant or jean in my closet, the investment is worth it to me. Think of the cost per wear! #girlmath

Enough with the jean-gushing, let’s chat about the rest of this outfit…I love the look of gladiator sandals, but they aren’t flattering on my shorter, ‘athletic’ legs. #shesayssarcasticallywhileusingairquotes These neutral sandals give me the style of a gladiator, with the cute lace-up and ties, but don’t visually cut my leg at an unflattering spot. Not to mention, they are super light, with a cushy, flexible insole.

And how cute is this bag?! There’s a whole series of fun designs, and all are under $50. The leather strap is soft and comfortable on your shoulder, and the bag itself is a bendable paper straw material that holds a ton!! Perfect for everyday, and trips to the pool or beach.

For a second look, I dressed the jeans up a bit with wedges and a feminine top. White just makes everything look so crisp and fresh!

I can’t seem to get enough of the ruffles and bell sleeves this season…they just make an otherwise basic top so fun and flirty. I paired it with bolder earrings for this outfit, but a statement necklace like this one would be gorgeous, too.

Fit Tip: This top runs true to size, I’m in an XS, and it wears well untucked, or tucked in to skirts.

Sugarplum Style Tip: My favorite undies in nude or pale pink are seamless under white jeans, as well.

This clutch has a fun retro vibe to it…totally reminds me of something my Mom had when I was growing up. It’s surprisingly roomy, too!

Did you also notice this gorgeous location?! The Dallas Arboretum is stunning year-round, but puts on an especially pretty show for Spring. Their Dallas Blooms event, with literally 1000s of blooms, is always a highlight! Make sure you add it to your list if you’re ever visiting Big D!

So who’s crushing on white jeans with me? Have you found your Goldilocks pair yet? I’ve noticed the J.Crew Toothpick jeans have an almost cultic following…are you a fan, too?! Happy weekend, lovebugs!

I’m so happy J.Crew is at Nordstrom, too! Ordering from the actual J.Crew website is awesome as well. I have found their slowest shipppng rate to be really fast (no longer than Nordstrom) and their customer service is top notch, just like Nordstrom. They even once next day shipped something for me for free when I needed to try a different size. J.crew from both stores has become a favorite brand of mine. Those white jeans look great on you and the pink top so perfect for spring.

Those look great! I’ve never found the perfect pair of white jeans…I’ve tried on countless pairs and have worn plenty that were missing that one perfect element. I’m hourglass like your mom so I’m going to order the highrise and test them out! They will look great with the tops I ordered from you earlier post this week. 😬
On another note, I laughed out loud when you said that you’d worn the white jeans a few times and they’d stretched out some. Do you mean without washing between? If so, that’s impressive. The first thing I do when wearing white is drop something on it! It’s like it’s a family joke about how mom isn’t allowed to wear white!

Haha!! yes, I wear my jeans usually 2-3 times between washings. I’m pretty clumsy in a lot of ways, but somehow manage to keep white jeans (mostly) clean! 😉

  8. I’ve already ordered and returned about 4 pairs of white jeans this spring. I’m to the point of thinking it’s just not going to happen for me this year. I have bigger thighs, and they all just seem a tad too tight, even though if I sized up the waist would be too big. I may have to size up and have the waist taken in. We’ll see. Maybe I’ll order my next round of white denim from Nordstrom. They have the best customer service and a great return policy- the free shipping is hard to beat! I love both of these looks, and as usual, it’s hard to pick a favorite. That bell sleeve top is pretty stinkin’ adorable though.

If you haven’t ordered a pair yet I can vouch for the high waist toothpick white jeans! I also have the same sizing issues with jeans (bigger thighs and a small waist, which makes it hard to find pants that fit), but I ordered 1 size up and they were perfect! They also weren’t see-through, which is another issue I have with most white jeans. I’ve had them for about 3 weeks now and can’t say enough good things…they’re my favorite pair of jeans in my closet now!

I didn’t know where to put this comment. I’m really liking the instastory clothes reviews. I think you can tell so much from you moving and pulling on the clothes. You’ve become a go-to source for fashion ideas, BUT! I’m 5’9. Rarely do the things that look good on you work for me. Wedding season is coming and I need some dress ideas for taller ladies!

It’s so good when you find a perfect pair of white denim! They go with so much- year round! I’ve seen those ball drop earrings really punch up the look- look so good on you! Plus, I think I need your bag for the pool this summer!
