I don’t know about you guys, but this time change is still kicking my tail!! Is this a sign of my aging, that I can’t shake the loss of one measly hour of sleep?!? There’s just no bouncing back for me anymore. Kind of like a hangover…when I do manage to stay out late enough to even acquire one, it stays with me for 3 days! It used to only take a Coke and a bean burrito before I was good to go again!!
Okay, one random tangent later….
Last week was Spring Break, so we packed the car with unhealthy snacks, and road-tripped to a handful of small Texas towns. We saw lots of cowboy boots, sweet tea and sunshine. It was tons of fun, but with the help of the awesome Hipstamatic app on my phone, it looks really cool too.
Is anything sweeter than seeing your kids get along?!? Throw in affection, or an act-of-kindness between the two of them, and I’m practically weeping!
A proper road trip requires artery-clogging food and a step back in time.
I love the color combinations in these old homes (not to mention the wrap-around porches!), and we saw the first patches of bluebonnets that will blanket the state by next month. When you spot a bride having her picture taken in the bluebonnets on the side of a Texas highway, you know it’s Spring!
Small towns hold lots of history-teaching opportunities, too.
We took advantage of the warm days.
And got lots of exercise running from the dinosaurs!
We’re always suckers for Old Town Squares, and their benches.
And again, it always comes back to the food. Of the six flavors of pie we tried, Mixed Berry was the favorite. I mean Apple was the favorite. After Cherry. Yes, Pumpkin was the best.
But as much fun as sharing a single room with two beds among four people is, it’s so great to get back home!
So how was your weekend? Was it as food-packed as mine?!?! And is anyone else still dragging from last weekend’s time change (except you rebel Arizonans!)
