This is Simple?!

Last week Architectural Digest released the stunning images of Gisele Bundchen and Tom Brady’s gorgeous new Los Angeles home. It took three years and upwards of $20 million for them to build the 22,000-square foot mansion, designed by famed architect Richard Landry, and decorated by Joan Behnke. It has stunning views of the Pacific Ocean, a resort-style swimming pool, 8 bedrooms, 6-car garage, wine cellar, state-of-the-art gym and a castle-like custom play area for the kids. Oh yeah, and a moat that runs across the front of the house.

Many celebrities have drool-worthy homes we love to lust over. They make a crap-ton of money…I get that. But what’s got me rolling my eyes is Gisele’s quote in the article,

“I like simplicity and coziness.” ~ Gisele

Honey, my house is cozy. Your house is a Costco!

I give them props for using solar panels and an eco-friendly water supply and heating and cooling systems, but just how ‘green’ is a 22,000-square foot home?! Gisele also says her favorite part of the house is the herb garden they planted. Silly me, I planted herbs in pails from Target’s Dollar Spot, and keep them in my Kitchen window!

There is no question the house is pure-gorgeousness, but surely even the highest paid supermodel knows it’s not simple?! What do you think?

  1. What? Your house doesn't look like that? Gisele is famous for saying stupid things. Three years ago, she said it should be a law that women breastfeed for 12 months. A law. Some people live in la-la land…

  2. Haha simple?! No way! It's beautiful, but massive! Nothing with a moat OR 22,000 sqft is simple. Too funny đŸ™‚

  3. You know…..she meant simple…..as in she is just a plain, average height farm girl……..bahahahahaha! I'm with you….stunning home but not my idea of simple….:)

  4. I don't think there's anything simple about her…. Perhaps her view of simple is a little skewed đŸ™‚

  5. Oh my god, I hadn't seen this.. Thank you for sharing. No, it's not simple, but it is beautiful. I noticed all the custom woodwork, vanities, kitchens are all a stained/painted gray. I wonder if that will get boring over the long haul? Oh wait, what the heck, they can just change it..simple as that! ha.

  6. It's all about perspective isn't it? Wonder if she's ever shopped at Target? I think the moat is what takes it over the top for me – ha! Moats make think of the Munsters – did you ever watch that as a kid? random – I know – what do you expect from me đŸ˜‰

Now Cassie… you know she just picked that basket of veggies herself right from her garden and she's going to whip up dinner for the family in her little ol' kitchen. đŸ˜‰

That kitchen is to die for… and I'm drooling over all the light fixtures.

  8. I think that celebrities have the most warped sense of reality and just don't know any better. They have no clue what the "real world" is about. I do, however, lust over that house. So gorgeous and unreal…..

  9. There are beautiful elements of course, but it's all just too much!

  10. Beautiful house but I'd say her perspective is a little different than mine. I don't think I'd want to live in a house that big even if I could afford it. I'd have to call my kids on the phone to tell them dinner is ready.

  11. Gisele's always sort of annoyed me (I prefer Gwyneth, weird huh?). It always boggles my mind that celebs have these massive homes & they're hardly every HOME to live in them. It really is gorgeous (like Gisele) but it's all too much (like Gisele).

Also, my moat is way bigger. That one sucks.

  12. OMG…this made me laugh out loud! Interesting how different everyone's view of simplicity is. I will keep my 2000sqft house for now…thank you very much! I also never could understand how people with HUGE homes think they are saving on energy with their "green" ideas!

  13. haha yeah she is ridiculous!(shake my head) But this home (although over the top for sure) is one of my favorite celebrity homes! Love the rustic touches and those steel framed windows and doors!! I want some of those so badly. Wow, that kitchen is gorgeous!

  14. Ha, yes, that is sort of a ridiculous comment. The house is spectacular but pretty much the opposite of simplicity. Can you imagine Giselle and Tom in a simple and cozy 2400 SF cape? Cause that's what I live in and it's cozy and I love it but it does not look a thing like this. Well, except for the moat. My moat looks JUST like theirs.

  15. Ha, ha! Love that line, "My house is cozy, your house is Costco!" lol. That one sentence totally made me laugh! đŸ™‚

wow…this house is gorgeous, but she's ridiculous! Definitely not simple! However, I'm not gonna lie—I'd live in it if they'd let me and I bet we wouldn't ever even know when each other was home! ha!

  18. I'm sure she planted those herbs and tends to them. *Eye roll* The house is gorgeous. I couldn't imagine having an endless budget. I don't think I'd build a mansion, but I would build something crazy awesome.

Previous comments are so funny – I'd read her comments earlier this week. The girl is nuts. The house is beautiful in every way, but certainly looks exactly like it was designed and installed by a very tasteful designer…looks like a show house. Certainly nothing whimsical, and absolutely nothing we haven't all seen a gazillion times before. Is the master shower an indication that frameless shower doors are falling out of favor? Or was it a budget decision?

  21. She has a beautiful home, with many gorgeous features. That said, she is a pretentious moron. The breastfeeding crap she said, this simplicity b.s. she gives, she's turning into Gwyneth Paltrow with her GOOP-y, condescending idiocy.

  22. You think they take rides around in the moat gondola style?

    Posted 9.10.13 Reply
  23. Thank you for the eye roll..I 100% agree. Her home is absolutely stunning but lacks something I think…"vacant" comes to mind..so pretty that it doesn't looked loved and lived in. And any house with a moat..I'm sorry…is never cozy LOL! Thanks for sharing!

  24. Bwahahahah! Gorgeous…. but cozy? And I am thinking simple would likely not cost quite that much….

  25. I was just showing this to my husband while we watched the Pat's game the other day. It frightens me to think about the monstrosity they're going to build in Massachusetts, a few short miles from my home (which could probably fit in their kitchen).

Mostly I agree with you but I do think some of the individual rooms look cozy…but when you add them all up into the giant space that it is, "cozy" certainly doesn't come to mind. Loved your reference to Costco! Make me smile. đŸ™‚

I have to say I don't think its cozy – gorgeous but not cozy. and one can NEVER make green enough choices to make up for having a 22,000 sq foot house. now to each their own but it is pretentious to make statements that pat one's self on the back because your being green for the earth. I have to say I too LOL'd when I read your "My house is cozy yours is a Costco" statement.

  27. Ha, ha, ha…I love that you said this out loud! The place is stunning yes but I roll my eyes wondering how much room do you really need? Seems so extreme and wasteful! I live NEAR a millionaire family and they built a beautiful home with charm, character and high end products but it is smaller (8,000 square feet?)quaint and classy.

Yet another tragic commentary on our times- lol. Celebrity perspectives are completely out of whack, agreed. Why don't the Patriots just move their base of operations to Tom and Gisele's home and they can all live there as one big happy family and still probably not get in anyone's way. At least then the home would get some use… I had just seen this last night- glad you threw out what most of us were already thinking Cassie đŸ™‚

More proof that our country has it's priorities messed up. Too much paid to professional models and athletes while our teachers, firemen and police have to work second jobs to make ends meet. Beautiful home big enough to house many unemployed and homeless. Just got me thinking…

    Posted 9.10.13 Reply
  30. I saw that too and thought the same thing you did. I guess it's all about perspective right? I feel like celebrities (and some athletes) think they all need 15,000+ sq. feet and even then that's too small. Who needs 22,000 sq feet?! There is absolutely no way you can make a house that size feel cozy….especially when it doesn't even look lived in! Just silly.

    Posted 9.10.13 Reply
  31. i agree…stunning but not "cozy", doesn't look lived in at all!! shes got a moat…but i've got a lazy river. beat that gisele.

  32. It is without a doubt beautiful, but the simplicity is hilarious. I especially like Giselle with her basket of produce… I'm sure she harvested all of that đŸ˜‰

  34. First of all, crap-ton is a great word and I believe I shall start using it… secondly, agree completely. The only thing simple about it is that she simply hired everyone to do it for her.

I'll take my gorgeous man, my modest home, and a little DIY any day.

Put that in your Bundchen and smoke it!

  35. Oh my goodness dying over your Costco comment. So funny and totally right. If she wants cozy she should totally swap with me and come live in my little cape cod cottage style house.
