Hi Sugarplum!

This Counts as Progress, Right?

February 12, 2014

I want everyone to get their clicker-fingers ready, because this is likely to be my most heavily-pinned post. Remember when I showed you guys all the inspiration I’d gathered to help inspire me to organize the hot mess I call my craft storage? I’ve been busy over the last couple of weekends, slowly chipping away at the project. Well, this isn’t the state of things.

Craft Closet: Use Your Resources
via
We’re actually looking like this…

Untitled

Sorry, I should have warned you. Hopefully you long-term readers saw the sarcasm red flag! Actually, the situation isn’t quite as dire…there’s been a little more progress…

Untitled

Can you see the semblance of organization starting to form? Yeah, me neither. The mess is making me absolutely crazy, but I’m encouraged just knowing I’m moving forward on the project I avoided for four years. I’ve gathered all the supplies in one room, purged the junk, and sorted them by category. Now I get to figure out how to move them all into this little sliver of closet space. After I clean out the closet. Of course.

Untitled

Look who’s helping me….not real encouraging.

Untitled

It always gets worse before it gets better, right? Darkest before the dawn? Can’t see the forest through the trees? Never eat yellow snow? Wait, wrong cliche. Either way, wish me luck.

I just can’t leave you with such cringe-worthy images, so let’s end the post with the dress that’s got me dreaming of Spring. I likely wouldn’t throw my arms in the air and dance on diving boards while wearing it though. Oh, who am I kidding?! Of course I will!

Any progress is progress to us! Don't give up! We tackled a similar space a few months ago, and we're so glad we did! The space we gained is unbelievable! Best of luck!

Ha ha ha! Love the little naked Ikea guys. Can't say I find them helpful but they're antics are funny. If this helps you stay motivated, you totally inspired me with your first post on this topic. I spent a day last week clearing out our coat closet (kind of a joke having a coat closet when you live in Southern California). It now houses my craft supplies plus much, much more. And, best of all, there's room to spare. No, it's not much to look at or "pin" worthy but now it is valuable space instead of wasted space. So thanks to you and hang in there!

I am knee deep in craft storage as well and just picked up the same Algot system from Ikea! I can't wait to see what you do with the closet. I always say that organizing gets worse before it gets better and it will be awesome when your done.

Here I was in Texas last week and I completely forgot to stop by and help you sort through all that. I'm so sorry. Actually sorting through other people clutter is fun for me. I just don't like sorting through my own. Good luck Cassie. It looks like you are making good progress. Have you figured out how you want your closet laid out yet?

Hey, if you've got it sorted and the junk purged, that TOTALLY counts as progress! Hang in there!

You can do it Cassie! I know you can and I can't wait to see it all done! Btw, that eliza J dress? I gave it to myself for my birthday! hahaha! It is super gorgeous, made me feel like a 'mysterious' woman walking along the beach! Hahaha!

Your first post about the craft closet got me thinking that I should do the same and get all the craft stuff out of the various bins in the garage and into the guest bedroom closet, but I am stuck in the "oh, that's a great idea" phase and am procrastinating on the "wow, this is so functional!" phase. Keep it up, you can do it! And hopefully seeing yours done will inspire me to keep going on mine 🙂

Oh girl. Our office/studio looked like that and some for like 3 weeks. I think my husband's eyes started twitching around week 2. It gets better and you'll be so happy when you've accomplished your goal!

You don't realize how good this makes me feel! I really appreciate that you kept it real, because when I did a whole closet reorganization this past winter, my room looked just like that and I wasn't sure it was normal

Thanks for sharing the it gets worse before it gets better phase. I have the same hing going on right now, but in my kitchen. I wish it was in a room where I could close the door and pretend the mess wasn't there in between organizing sessions 🙂 Especially since I can only get my little ones nap time to overlap by about an hour a day … Makes progress slow! But I know if will bd worth it in the end, for both of us!

Cassie-Love the sarcasm. The inspiration is so adorable and I feel ya on cleaning out a closet. I admire you for showing your mess as I would not dare take a pic of mine. What is behind closed closet doors, stays behind closed closet doors. 🙂

I can's wait to see the end result, but love seeing the progress with all the tongue in cheek humor.

This was my kitchen last weekend. I cleaned out the entire pantry and reorganized it. Granted it doesn't look magazine worthy now, but it is organized.

When it warms up I plan on doing some painting, but it's too cold for anything in the garage to dry right now.

There is light at the end of the tunnel. Your pictures look just like mine did. I just organized my craft space and it took awhile. Maybe you can find some inspiration from my room – http://casualfridays-laura.blogspot.com/2014/02/scrap-room-organized.html

I’m so glad you shared and I saw it today. I am at the same stage in my bedroom – that is the stage when the proverbial mess hits the fan and splatters all over the room; the only place you can go from there is UP! Oh yeah, and well organized to boot. You’re in a good space and so am I – we just need time and building patience. Can’t wait to see your finished product!
