Summer of Style | 01

Summer Celebration Week continues, and today I’m kicking off a new weekly series, Summer of Style. My goal is always to inspire you, but also share ways to stretch your wardrobe. You’ve probably noticed that my style posts typically involve multiple styling options…but sometimes a girl just wants a simple outfit idea!

Especially in Summer, when the pace is slower, and style becomes a little simpler and more minimal. (At least in the Texas heat it does!) So Summer of Style will be just that…a weekly outfit to (hopefully) inspire your Summer wardrobe! They’ll be easy-to-recreate combinations, that cover all aspects of your life…work, weekend, date night, and lazy pool/beach days.

And what better way to kick it off, than with a soft, easy-to-wear tank dress! It combines two of my favorites…black & white stripes, and racerback silhouette!

Soft, lightweight fabrics are essential in Texas Summers, and this Splendid dress is practically pajama-comfy! I’ve always known Splendid for their silky-soft, must-have tees, but was delighted to discover they carry that same over-the-top comfort to all their dresses and tops, as well.

This racerback dress has just enough stretch to keep it’s shape, and is so cute with sneakers, flip-flops and wedges. I’d even throw it on over my swimsuit (obsessed with this one!) as a chic little cover-up. I upped the fun-factor by pairing it with this vibrant statement necklace, but kept it casual with sneakers.

Sugarplum Style Tip: I typically size-up in dresses like this for a non-body conscious fit, but this Splendid dress in XS was perfectly relaxed, so I suggest you stick with your usual size.

I’m not a big fan of racerback bras…likely because I’ve never found one that’s both comfortable and keeps the straps hidden. But my little genius bra solution works perfectly!

Sugarplum Style Tip: The chambray shirt adds a fun layer, but is also a good trick when you prefer to keep your bum covered! Just tie it loose, and a little lower than your natural waist, to keep it modern.
