Thanks for all the love and amazing tips for Kauai in yesterday’s post!! It’s obviously an incredibly special place for many of you, and I’m even more excited to experience it with my family now! Of course I’ll be sharing peeks of our adventures on my Instagram Story, so be sure to follow there, and will recap our experience in a Trip Report on the blog when we return. (Curious what the pups do when we travel? I answered that frequently asked question in this You Ask, I Answer post.)
After a long Winter and sporadic Spring, I’m excited to finally bring back my weekly series, Summer of Style, today! My goal is always to inspire you, but also share ways to stretch your wardrobe. You’ve probably noticed that my style posts typically involve multiple styling options…but sometimes a girl just wants a simple outfit idea!
Especially in Summer, when the pace is slower, and style becomes a little simpler and more minimal. (At least in the Texas heat it does!) So Summer of Style is just that…a weekly outfit to (hopefully) inspire your Summer wardrobe! They’ll be easy-to-recreate combinations, that cover all aspects of your life…work, weekend, date night, and lazy pool/beach days.
And I thought it was only appropriate to kick it off with my favorite ruffled shirtdress!
You likely remember seeing it last week in the Gibson x Hi Sugarplum launch, but I wanted to give you a closer look at all the fun details of this dress. It’s a crisp cotton poplin with just a touch of stretch, and the cutest ruffle sleeves. I love that the ruffles stay crisp, and don’t get droopy!
It’s so easy to throw on for tons occasions, and looks cute with wedges, strappy heels, and even flat sandals. The belt creates a flattering fit-and-flare shape, and can be placed at your natural waist. The pattern is a subtle blue stripe, and incredibly versatile. I’ve got it paired with pops of pink, but have worn it with blues, yellow, and just simple gold.
Fit Tip: I’m wearing a regular XS and it falls to my knees. Petite sizing is available and those are about 2-inches shorter.
And if the ruffle shoulder didn’t make it special enough, we made it with a slight racerback shape for an even more flattering fit! It’s the quintessential Summer shirtdress, but kicked up a notch in the style department! #ifIdosaysomyself
And because I’m just so proud of this darling dress, I have to share the other color ways, as well!
