Sugarplum Style, Vol. 30

Welcome back, friends! How was your weekend? Our son returned home from his final week of camp, and I can’t wait to soak up the few remaining weeks of Summer with both my babies.

Today it’s your monthly dose of Sugarplum Style…snapshots of my everyday outfits I post to Instagram and Facebook, created by mixing-and-matching items in my closet. It’s been a hot one around here, so this batch is full-on Summer style.

Fingers crossed this dress restocks, because so many of you have raved about it as much as I have…it’s just so easy to throw on, but looks so chic. And hello, pockets!

I had a quick getaway to Austin with girlfriends and this floral number.

This cap has become my weekend regular, especially since I’ve been giving the blow dryer and curling iron a break!

I fell hard for this little striped top with a subtle bell sleeve (so many of them look like clown shirts!), and could hardly believe it was under $50! Apparently J.Crew is adding some more affordable price points to their collection, and I couldn’t be happier.  And sale alert!!! Use code POMPOM for 40% off the clutch!!!

Bell-Sleeve Top | Favorite White Jeans | Wedges (also here) | Tassel Necklace
Pom Pom Clutch | Sunglasses | Ring

I’m still hooked on the red and blue combo…it’s just so Summer! Especially when you throw in some embroidery.

Flutter Sleeve Embroidered Top | Jean Shorts | Wedge Sandals (also here)
Sunglasses | Tassel Earrings (similar)

This lace romper actually looks like two separates, and has the cutest criss-cross back. Perfect for a night out. And yep, I have the pom pom clutch in two colors…that sale price is hard to beat for such an outfit statement (code POMPOM for 40% off)!

Texas thinks it’s Florida lately, and we’ve been getting afternoon flash thunderstorms…followed by pleasant evening temps. I love the chance to pull out my fave long sleeve button-ups.

I don’t know what I like better….these chambray espadrilles, or the old pickup I hijacked for this pic!

This dress is always in heavy rotation for Date Nights…and they keep tempting me with new colors in stock!

This was another Date Night style…I think it’s my favorite of the Summer. Who knew shorts could be so sassy?!

Floral blouse on repeat.

Synchronized posers…this gauzy skirt is still my go-to on the hottest days when I need to look presentable.

I hope you’re not keeping count of how many of these tees I now own…but I can’t resist the perfect fit, length, and softness. Not to mention, sale price of only $17!

Oops, I wore it again. And can you believe I found that darling cross body bag with tassel at Old Navy?!?! #score

Wow, look at the shine on my skin! I’d like to say it’s the result of really good body lotion, but it’s just hot.

These sneakers have been my favorite wardrobe addition this season…I wear them in place of sandals or wedges, and love the different look it brings to outfits.
Fit Tip: Size down half-size!

Another comfy, yet chic, night out. It’s amazing the impact a clutch can make to simple outfits!

And this pic is technically a Dressing Room Diaries, but it received so many likes on social media, I wanted to include it here, too. No question these outfits have me excited for Fall! (Read my reviews and fit tips on them here.)

I hope these posts inspire you to create new combinations from your closet! The key isn’t to have more clothes, but to mix up what you do have in new and different ways. Except these sneakers and this pom pom clutch (use code POMPOM for 40% off!), you need those. #trustme #enabler

  5. What size of the JCrew bell-sleeve top are you wearing? Some reviews are saying it runs small and is too short so I'm debating going up from XS to S — what are your thoughts?

    • I'm wearing my usual XS, and it is a tad fitted, but I thought sizing up might make it too slouchy…which could lead towards clown shirt, you know? Also, I'm long-torsoed, and the length is good on me. xo

Hi – I just came across your blog and love it, especially the style section. Can you share some recommendations for laptop bags? I need a new one and am stuck… most are ugly. Thanks! Melissa

    • Thanks so much! I have this one from Barrington, and love it!! It fits well in my large tote purse, and looks cute when I pull it out. Now, it doesn't have pockets, etc, but I just need to slide my Mac and some papers in. I loved being able to customize and monogram it to my personal style. xoxo http://bit.ly/2anLBf2
