Happy Friday, friends, and cheers to the long weekend! I’ll be honest, my heart is feeling weary. It’s as though the last 18 months have been one devastating thing after another, overlapping sorrow and chaos that compound to create a never-ending sense of confusion, disbelief, and heartache.
It’s like we started out with a 100-meter dash, that’s turned into a marathon with no finish line, and my stamina is starting to fray. I recognize my life is packed with privilege, but I’m overwhelmed trying to keep up and keep it all together.
But admitting and recognizing that is healing in itself. None of us is superhuman, and the gravity of it all is bound to weigh us down. Our worries and concerns may not all be the same, but our hearts ache together, and there’s something consoling in that.
If you’re feeling similar, know you aren’t alone, and your feelings are valid and worth recognizing. I hope we’re all able to find moments of rest and peace this weekend.

See you back here next week for more fun! Happy holiday weekend, lovebugs!
What a wonderful, consoling message. I don’t want to complain because, like you, my life is privileged. But, as you say, I sometimes feel so overwhelmed by the world. It does help to know others feel the same way. You perfectly articulate what’s in my head. Have a peaceful, restorative weekend!
Thank you so much, Mary Jane, I hope you get to do the same! xo, C
Cassie thank you for your honesty. I’ve noticed recently that I am feeling the same way. Your blog is a bright spot in my day – thank you for giving that to us. To better days ahead!
Thank you so much, Christine. <3
I’ve been feeling the same these last few weeks. Trying to put one foot in front of the other and keeping the “noise” to a minimum.
It’s hard… feeling a lot of things right now! It’s ok to take a timeout for a bit. xo, C
Yes, it has been a difficult time. I, too, live a privileged life. I retired at 57 after years of hard work and good decisions. Recently though, I made a deliberate decision to appreciate and enjoy the little things in life. Things like fresh peaches, homemade soups, even washing floors, and doing laundry. I’m not sure if it’s enduring the political unrest, the pandemic, or perhaps knowing that life is short and every day needs to be enjoyed like it may be our last. Our greatest joy is our grandchildren. Hold tight everybody – make the most of the positives and the negatives have a way of fading away. We are all stronger than we know.
This was beautiful, Lyn <3 <3 xo, C
Thank you for sharing your journey last year when your dear son went off to college! Our eldest son just moved into his dorm this weekend and oh my mamma heart. I know it gets better….easier….as we adjust. I’ll Ed the photo of you hugging him goodbye.‘I felt that this weekend.’
