Happy Tuesday, friends! I’m thrilled you found yesterday’s Tips for Working From Home post helpful… and I loved hearing more of your great ideas, too! And from the sound of it, there are quite a few of us blaming ‘Susan’ and ‘Frank’ for all the annoying things happening at home these days! (Apologies to the Susans and Franks of the world, I’m not sure why we adopted those names! But rest assured, even though they never seem to refill the paper tray in our house, they’re still super cute and fun! 😉
I’m beyond excited for today’s post… announcing the new Gibson x Hi Sugarplum Cavallo Top! When we designed this darling spring top months ago, never in our wildest dreams could we imagine a pandemic inflicting pain and havoc on virtually every household and industry, from healthcare to fashion.
Though it’s usually dismissed as frivolous (rightfully so, compared directly with the front line service industries fighting to keep people alive and fed), the fashion industry employs over 300 million people worldwide, from designers and tailors, to factory and retail workers, and it’s one of the world’s most significant fiscal heavyweights. And just like most every other industry, it’s suffered a crippling blow in the wake of this awful pandemic with countless layoffs, and store, factory, and warehouse closings.
From small brands to big box retailers, no one is immune, and it’s feared many will not survive. It’s not just your favorite local boutique in jeopardy, but also your go-to brand of denim, the online accessories shop, and even the department store that’s been around so long your grandmother shopped there.
In fact, 100s of people played a role in bringing our Cavallo Top to life, through countless hours of creativity and hard work. Many of whom are now furloughed or laid-off. So today I celebrate the amazing teams at Gibson Look and Nordstrom, and hope a part of what I’m doing can help brands and stores continue operating, while keeping employees on payroll. And in addition, I’ll be donating 100% of my commissions from this top to Feeding America.
But first, how about a little backstory on this darling new top?! The Cavallo Ruffle Neck Swing Dress was part of our Gibson x Hi Sugarplum Summer of Color Collection last year… and became an instant reader-favorite! In fact, it’s been reordered in new prints and colors three times already!
So when we sat down earlier this year to discuss Collection plans for 2020, the first thing we thought of was our most-popular dress… but in blouse form! And it turned out even better than I’d hoped… with the cutest ruffle collar and bow on the back neck! It’s a breezy woven material that drapes and flows beautifully, and just like the dress, it’s fully-lined!
I’m so excited to share the Cavallo Ruffle Neck Top for all your spring and summer styles! It easily pairs with jeans and wedges for a night out, or shorts and sandals for casual day. Layer it under a blazer or tuck in your favorite trousers once we return to the office. It’s incredibly versatile, and effortlessly chic.
Fit Tip: True to size, I’m in an XS. It’s also got a high-low hem that fully covers the bum.
It currently comes in five great colors, with more on the way!
I hope you’re as excited about this new addition to our ongoing Gibson x Hi Sugarplum Collections as we are, and know that we designed and created it with YOU in mind. Our goal is always to bring you joy and confidence when getting dressed everyday. And with so many people involved, it goes well beyond just a cute outfit!
Thank you for your continued support and enthusiasm, and allowing me to share this perspective with you. I hope you love this cute new spring top, and it brightens your day!
