{Smitten} Graphic Hurricane

While the big purchases can be nauseating exciting, it’s the small things that make my heart race. Little touches, like a new tea towel or basket planter, can make me smile when entering a room. We made a pretty big purchase on our Ikea Field Trip last month, but I also came home with this little $10 glass hurricane. And to be honest, both make me equally happy.

I love the height it adds to the coffee table, without being visually heavy. And the graphic black and white print ties it in with the black accents in the room.

No sooner had we filled it with seashells from our beach trips, than it was time to switch it up with cinnamon-scented pine cones and filler. This little hurricane is great plain, but I can never resist jazzing things up.

Just a touch of Fall…kind of like the weather…only cool enough to tease us!

What items and small purchases are you smitten with these days? Have you started decorating for Fall yet? And speaking of Fall…I added a Fall Projects page under my header, so take a look around if you’re looking for ideas! And since I was doing some blog housekeeping, I added the room makeovers-in-progress to both my sidebar and House Tour page.

  1. Its just now cooling off around here so I hadn't thought about fall yet. I do plan on hosting a dinner party soon though so I guess I'd better get on it!

  2. I get giddy about little things too! This hurricane is adorable. I just found an adorable door mat at Target yesterday on clearance for 7 beans. Down from 39. I was so excited about it.

  3. I am smitten with the fall dish towels that I got yesterday at Crate and Barrel. At less than five bucks a piece, they sure do put a smile on my face šŸ™‚ I saw some hurricanes as well, but knew that Ikea was the place to buy those types of decorations (same thing at C&B is triple the price! yikes!). Looks like an Ikea field trip is in store!

  4. I adore Ikea, the furniture may be so-so.. but things like that glass sometimes just pull an entire room together.

  8. I love my hurricanes, too, and half the time they don't even have candles in them because I love the look of just filling them with things. In the summer, it's lemons or large sea shells; in fall, small gourds or Indian corn and winter is always pinecones and cinnamon sticks.
I love the black and white chevron on the bottom of yours! I might have to rig something like that up on one of mine.

  13. Love the fun base! Isn't it funny how the small things are just as thrilling as the big. Not long ago I got some new sented hand soap, and would purposely hit up that bathroom for the good smelling soap šŸ˜€

  15. I totally get it! My most recent BIGGEST little purchase: a tiny little topiary that I got at HomeGoods. I brought it home, monogrammed the pot with a Sharpie, and I smile every time I pass it.
