Patriotic Table

Happy Monday, friends! We’re sweating living it up at the water park for my son’s birthday today, but I wanted to throw together a patriotic table for the holiday later this week. Independence Day has always been one of my favorite holidays…I love being in a mass of strangers, gazing up at fireworks, all of us united by our feelings of pride and patriotism. And that dang Lee Greenwood song gets me every time!

We have plans to cheer on FC Dallas and watch the fireworks Wednesday night, but the day will be spent chilling in the backyard. This easy table is perfect for hot dogs and swimming.

You may recognize the tablecloth (an un-hemmed fabric remnant) from this party, and the paper lanterns from this one. I scattered them down the center, along with one of our houseplants.

The place settings are inexpensive bamboo mats and striped paper plates from Ikea. Mason jars are my favorite for Summertime meals.

Place cards are tied to festive napkins (bought on clearance after the holiday a few years ago) with pieces of jute, and I jump at any chance to use stripey straws!

The table is ready, and we can’t wait to celebrate America’s birthday! What are you guys up to with the holiday this week? And for my international readers, are you a fan of red, white and blue?! Oh, and P.S…I added a Summer Projects button in the navigation bar…in case you’re looking for things to whip out this season TWSS.

  1. This is probably my favorite 4th of July themed table. I'm honestly not a huge fan of themed decor but this is one that easily combines previously owned items with one simple themed item (the napkins) for a very nice red, white and blue look. Great job! And I love mason jars for drinks! I also adore your silver (metal?) container for your house plant and how you added it in there with the bamboo for some natural looking accessories.
