{Outfit Inspiration} Black & White

You guys are the best ~ thank you for all the empathy for my sewing meltdown yesterday! I think I’d better tackle the drapes before I lose my nerve, and everything I’ve learned so far…so hopefully I’ll have that to show you soon. I know they will be the most impactful change for the Dining Room.

Today’s outfit isn’t ground-breaking or particularly fashion-forward…but I wanted to prove that I don’t always dress like a bag of Skittles. I’m also feeling very prim and first-lady in it, so I thought it appropriate for Election Day!

I won’t get political on you, but I will tell you my job hangs in the balance. So I’m pretty interested in tonight’s outcome! But never one to sit around and wait, I’ve already got some new ventures in the works…hopefully one I can share with you soon.

This dress was on my Friday Five last month, and I’ve worn it weekly since. It’s crazy comfortable, and pretty flattering, if I say so myself! I’ve worn it with big necklaces, cardigans and jackets…but for my FLOTUS impression, I layered a Peter Pan collar under.

And because I’m incapable of all neutrals, leopard pumps and a bright pink bag add some jazz-hands to the outfit.

I’m ready to redecorate the West Wing! Bring on Christmas at the White House. Did you hit the polls this morning? Were you dressed in your prissiest best?!

  1. Sorry, normally i love your outfits. But the plain collar does not go with the cool pumps and bag. I would like it better if you bedazzled that collar with some studs/rhinestones/those tubelike sequins.

VERY first lady, I love it! Your makeup is so pretty, any chance you'd do a post on your makeup routine?

I'm not one to talk politics either but I will say that I hope everyone gets out there and VOTES today! It is a privilege denied to many.

  3. Look at you and your cute self – love the peplum and peter pan collar and love how you threw a little sass on it with the leopard pumps and pink purse.

Can't wait to hear about your future opportunity! Everything happens for a reason. My husband was in the same boat coming up in 2014 so he decided to start his own business and has never been happier.

I would love to hear how the Affordable Care Act puts you out of business. I am a Democrat, and for a personal reason support health care reform (my nephew with a heart defect whose family has individual health insurance was not able to get insurance for him), but I am willing to hear the other side of the equation. The vitriol from both sides of the political spectrum has so disgusted me this year, and the split in this country is so great – but I heard a This American Life podcast this weekend that really made me realize that people need to start to listening to the other side without the agenda of trying to change someone's mind. I realize I have fallen into the mindset of thinking that ALL Republicans are fundamentalist Christians who don't believe in rights for women, only care about profits for the top 1% over the future of our country, and only care about getting rid of this president. I'd love to hear the other side of the story.

Love that outfit, especially the white collar. We went and voted first thing this morning, but with the rain I opted for comfort! LOL

I have friends and family I love dearly who are pro-life, pro-choice, for gay marriage, anti-gay marriage, etc etc etc….what I don't have, and won't have, are people in my life who are intolerant and disrespectful of other people's opinions. You can believe many things and IMHO neither party is a perfect fit…I'm not a stereotype and I don't believe in stereotypes, whether political, geographical, gender-based, religious etc. Lets lose the hate.

I was totally dressed in my "prissiest best" for the polls – apparently great minds think alike. I channeled my Jackie O in an adorable tomato red shift dress (you would approve of the color), oversize glasses, and nude pumps. Love your blog!
