Happy, happy Friday!! It has been a crazy-busy week for me, so I’m excited the weekend is finally here. Since our son is still visiting grandparents in Michigan, we’re treating Babygirl to a little staycation at a local hotel, complete with lagoon-style pool and room service. We may be creating a little monster. Who am I kidding, I’m more excited than she is!
Today I’ve got another organizing project for you…that’s right, two in one week! Bam! As part of my ‘Taking Back Our House’ mantra, I’m a possessed woman on a mission to get everything organized. It feels so good once a space is complete, that it easily snowballs into the next.
The Garage has been the latest victim of my wrath…first the spraypaint, then shelves and pegboard…and now the sports gear and yard tools.
If you have kids, or an active husband, chances are, you have gear for every sport laying around your garage. Including the dreaded metal scooter, that always falls and clips me in the ankle when I get out of the car. As our collection grew, it started piling up around the perimeter of the garage…making it a tight fit for our cars, and moms with bony ankles.
I always seemed to have a rogue ball stuck under my car, too. Just for today, I’m going to pretend to be a grown-up, and leave that one alone. Oh nevermind…TWSS.
For the safety of balls and ankles everywhere, we decided a new system…or rather….any system was needed. Enter: Monkey Bars Garage Storage Systems! Installing the heavy-duty Monkey Bar into studs was a breeze…make sure to use your tallest tool as a gauge for how high it needs to be on the wall.

Then slide the assorted hooks on, and snap into place. The fun part was watching all that gear go from the floor, to the walls, in one compact spot!
Even the scooters have a new home, away from my ankles! Along with 4 bats, a hitting stick, 8 full-size balls, a bike pump, and an extra hook for bags!
This sports bag might be the greatest invention ever. The frame mounts to the bar just like the hooks, and the mesh bag, which is open at the top, and sealed closed at the bottom, is attached with super-strong velcro.
You can easily reach in the side opening, without having to get all the balls out.
Puuuuuuurty! I thought about painting the walls, but Texas is already near 100-degrees…ain’t nobody got time for that! So I swept the floor instead.
As for the gloves and smaller balls, I used a wall rack leftover from this project, and hung a flat-bottom girl basket on a leftover hook from the Mudroom.
The basket is great for transporting to batting practice…the boys just grab the whole thing off the hook, and it sits on the ground without spilling.
Baseball mitts hang nearby on this cool Ikea gadget (I can’t find the link because I don’t know it’s crazy Swedish name?! Can anyone help? Bueller?)
We’ve got another one near the bikes for helmets.
The ladders hang from heavy-duty screws, drilled directly in the wall.
So that covers the sports gear…now on to the yard tools.
The previous owners had a board attached to the wall, with large nails in it for hanging tools. That worked for awhile, until the board fell out. Now each tool hangs from these little $1 hooks.
Honestly, I don’t reach for these tools often, but seeing them all lined up makes me happy!
We utilized more vertical space by storing holiday decor, camping gear, and other garage-appropriate-crap on shelves above our heads. But now, all the stuff we use regularly, is at eye-level and easy to access.
Pretty big improvement, don’t you think?!

I'm loving your sports equipment station…we are in need of something like this with 3 kids and 4 different sports, it needs to be organized so everyone can find what they need for practices and games.

This looks so great! You must love having all the stuff off the floors! Two of the walls in my garage are concrete -and ain't nobody got time to drill into concrete to hang stuff so I'm gonna have to get creative.
This is a dream come true! Our garage is an absolute mess and we just don't know where to start. Our poor kids can barely get their bikes out!
Holy smokes! That is the most organized garage I have ever seen! I love the bike helmet and baseball glove holders! Also the sports rack holder! I pinned away! haha! Hoping to clean and organize ours in the Fall when its a little cooler in there!:)
This looks great! Sadly we don't have a garage but we do have a storage house that is a hot mess. It houses all our bikes and tools and such. It could use a little, I mean a lot of organization help! 🙂

I love the look of this storage system. We need some yard tools organization, but in the near future the sports organization would come in handy as my son in starting to accumulate balls and a scooter (he is 2). I really like that sports bag!
We just moved into our first home and are at the tail end of re-doing our whole kitchen… so needless to say the garage has taken a serious back seat! Can't wait to get it cleaned out so I can get my car back in there!
It's like you know exactly what needs to be done at my house and write about it. Our garage is a hot mess right now. My husband just moved our business into the garage so needless to say my once stellar 3 car garage can't even fit one car 🙁 Love the mit and helmet hooks!

I'm thinking we need this system for the Mr. By the amount of skateboards, snowboards, balls, & sporty toys he's amassed in our garage, you'd think a teenage boy lives at our house.
I need to organize the whole thing! I just moved from 2500 sq ft to about 1800, and lost a ton of space including half a garage! I have sports equipment, bikes, christmas decorations, etc.
Looks great Cassie. This is when I am so thankful we have a basement to store all that stuff. The razor scooters bring back memories. I remember when they first came out and our girls HAD to have them! LOL Hope you are staying cool by the pool. We were in Waco last weekend, so hot. However, I think it is even hotter this weekend.
I am coveting their 6 bike rack.
I would love to have a bike rack because our bikes take up so much space that they clutter the garage, leaving no room for the cars.
My garage needs a major clean out before we can organize, but you have given me some ideas and some motivation to get moving. My goal for the summer is to take a load of stuff to Goodwill every week. Hopefully that will help make a dent in the crazy garage.
The bike rack would be great since they currently just stand around in the middle of the garage or lean on shelves thus blocking off storage for other things.

I love your honesty and writing style. Heck no, I won't be out there in my garage when it is 95 outside with 70% humidity, I'm with you. I would love the Monkey Bar systems for all kinds of things, like a few tools, dog training and other gear and yep, I've got a couple of bikes hidden in the volcano which clearly erupted out there. How I would love to get just one car into our two car garage. But with two boys and all their sports equipment (and the dreaded hockey bags) and one husband who owns every tool he can get his hands on they never make it in there. That monkey bars storage system would be a big help

OMG – my garage looks like a tornado hit it – I would love one of htese to organize all of the kid "stuff"… scooters, basketballs, boogie boards, etc. that have found their way to the garage floor. Yikes.

I so need this system!! My garage is embarrassing right now!! Seriously, we have a 3 car garage and the ONLY car currently fits in there is a BARBIE JEEP!!! I too have the problem with those darn scooters that whip around so fast and hit my ankle bone! I need to get the kiddos toys, bikes, scooters, plasma cars, etc Up OFF the floor! Oh goodness, I would love the system you have, and a bike rack AND a yard tool rack! We just built some shelves in our garage which helped a bunch but could use some racks, husband really wants to hang our bicycles and tools, they're on our home improvement list.

I am so jealous of your garage organization. I feel like I do this every summer and each year it gets "reorganized" by the hubby and children. I love the hanging system for scooters, because man those things can do some damage to the ankles!
Oh, I only need to organize EVERY CORNER of my garage! We moved in a year ago and are having a hard time finding the opportunity in the short spring and fall seasons to really tackle this project. Hoping that pining some of these pics and tips will help motivate me around September!

Great information, I always have trouble keeping my garage tidy and clean. I've made a promise to myself to put away all of my tools and not use any extra space as a storage room for things I don't need. My garage also has some pretty badly stained concrete floors that I have been trying to research a cleaning method for; any tips?

Hi Lori — that plastic container is from Ikea. I believe they market it as a plastic bag holder, for recycling? hope this helps!
