Date Night Style

Mr. SP and I haven’t had a lot of Date Nights out this Summer…unless trips to the grocery store count.  We didn’t realize how much we’d come to rely on the teenager, and since he’s been away at camp a lot this Summer, so goes our built-in babysitter!

We’ve had a week-long window with him home though, so we jumped at the chance to spend a few hours away before our son heads out again. And obviously we were quite giddy with the opportunity!

Our nights out are usually fairly casual, but especially so in this crazy Texas heat. You’ll find me in gauzy skirts or shorts most weekends, and I loved how easily this pair dressed-up. Mr. SP usually waits to get dressed for the night until he sees what I’ve got on, and I believe his exact response was, ‘Oh sweet, you’re just wearing shorts?!’

Of course I had to clarify that there’s a difference between cut-off shorts and flip-flops, and darling scallop-hemmed shorts and heels. I mean, I’m wearing shorts…but not shorts. 😉 #girllogic

Fit Tip: I sized up to a small in the shorts for more drape, but am wearing my usual XS in the top.

The easy addition of the statement necklace and leopard clutch let him know I meant Date Night business with my ‘just shorts.’

Honestly, I don’t usually even care what he wears out…most anything goes at the majority of Dallas restaurants, but I do love a good collared shirt cuffed to show his forearms. #forearmfetish He leans towards the slim-fit shirts, especially the poplin ones that don’t seem to wrinkle easily.

If you follow me on Snapchat (@cassiesugarplum), then you’ve seen why I’m always laughing my fool-head off when he’s around.

I’ve been on the hunt for a leopard clutch for ages…but could never push the button on this pricey one. I couldn’t believe my luck when I finally found this stunner for under $50! Including the tassel! #tasselfetishtoo It’s sure to sell out fast, so don’t dilly-dally if you’ve been looking for an affordable leopard clutch.

You know we love a good jumping pic, but when Mr. SP told me to leap in his arms, I totally hesitated. I mean, I know I’m not a large person…but neither is he! And it’s not like he’s always carrying me around. Correction…it’s not like he’s ever carried me around! #amanknowshislimits

Looks easy and playful, right?! Yeah, that’s because you can’t hear the heaving grunt he made when he caught me!!

All four times it took us to get it right!! Clearly we don’t have a future on The Bachelor.

He may have popped a hernia, but I sure had fun! We’re taking advantage of some more free hours tonight, and hitting up the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale one last time before it goes live to the public Friday morning (i.e. when everything sells out!). I’m a little nervous…the man likes to shop! (See what he’s liking below.)

What’s your Date Night style during the steamy Summer months? What are you most excited about in The Sale this year? I’d love to hear what you’ve found so far! I’ll be back Friday with Round 2 of my Dressing Room Diaries with Mama Sugarplum…see you then!

#couplegoals Seriously, the two of you are so cute together! We haven't had many date nights either, but on vacay last week, we did sneak away for a couple of dinners and I stuck with breezy dresses because the FL heat is about as bad as the TX heat 🙂

You guys crack me up! Love this look on you. Betcha the next time you say you're wearing shorts on a date night he stops to ask if they're shorts or shooooorts 😀 Ok, so I have to know, what do you do to stay in such great shape? And if you say nothing I'm gonna die.

You are the sweetest! First up, a good tan disguises a lot!! 😉 Secondly, I don't have an official workout, but I try to stay moderately active?! I walk the dog, swim, do an occasional pushup. Mostly I try to eat in moderation…so much easier for me to maintain my weight than try to loose weight. :/ xoxox
