Happy Friday, friends, and cheers to the weekend! Is it a long weekend for you? Little Miss is off school Monday, so we’re headed to the lake for some serious chill time. She’s hoping to catch some fish, and I want to finish my book (the new Elin Hilderbrand from her ‘Paradise‘ series…it’s so good!). Oh yeah, we’re also completely hooked on Ted Lasso, so we’ll probably binge the rest of that.
We talked resolutions and intentions earlier this week (I shared my mantra for 2021 HERE if you missed it), and although I didn’t make any grand fitness plans, I do look at the new year as a fresh slate. Like we discussed, much of 2020 was just about surviving. And even though ‘self care’ was a hot topic, mine was more along the lines of face masks and foot peels than fitness and nutrition.
I have no plans to give up my taco habit, but I do want to commit to moving my body more and making healthier food choices… as much for my mental and physical health as my waistline. And nothing helps me kickstart my motivation like a darling new workout outfit!

Motivation is defined as a reason for actions…. well, my reason for action just so happens to be these scallops, ha! But really, have you ever seen a cuter sports bra? It’s super soft with medium support, and cute enough to wear as a swim top, or even peeking out of a jacket.
The wide straps are sturdy, without digging in, and it’s made of a collagen-infused fabric that wicks moisture away from your skin while you sweat. I also like the longline that keeps me a little more covered.
The set is from IVL Collective, which was started by fellow blogger, Emily Jackson! I have loved watching her business grow, and am always thrilled to see hardworking women realize their dreams and goals! She started selling out of her house, and now she’s at Nordstrom… how’s that for motivation!?

The high-waist leggings are made of the same amazing collagen-infused fabric that smooths and sculpts, without digging or pinching. They even have SPF 50 for when you’re active outdoors! If you want to get really wild, grab the matching leopard bra HERE.
Fit Tip: The bra runs a little small… so choose your size based on your bra, then go up one. I’m a 32 and wear a 6. The leggings are true-to-size, with a lot of stretch and give (but no see-thru!), I’m wearing a 2.

I recently picked up these sleek weighted bangles for your wrists or ankles and initially thought, ‘Only one-pound each, how much of a difference could that make?!’ Ummmm, a lot! Joke’s on me, because they took my casual dog walks to a real fitness sweat-session!
The subtle weight is an easy way to add strength and toning to your workout. They have a wide velcro strap for custom fit, and store flat in a zippered mesh bag.

This picture is just a reminder that the right poses and angles, good light, and a great photographer can disguise all sorts of things. My stomach grew two babies, has supported me for 48 years, and endured a year’s worth of pandemic infractions… and I have the loose skin to prove it!
Sidenote: It’s also worth noting, that while I do take advantage of talented photographers and strategic posing, I will never alter my photos beyond light and color.

I rounded up a few more fun finds to help kick start your motivation this year… because sometimes we all need a little more than just the desire!

five. Insulated Water Bottle with Storage // six. Clip-On Bluetooth Speaker
seven. Sneakers // eight. Earbuds

Do you have fitness goals for this year? What are your biggest motivators? I’m currently off wine and dessert for the month of January, and good grief it’s been a struggle! My diet just felt too dependent on both, so I’m hoping to break the addiction, but the detox is real!
I’d love any advice you have, until then, I’ll just be dreaming about the cookies stored in my freezer until February. Happy weekend, lovebugs!
*Photos by the darling and talented Audrie Dollins. This post created in collaboration with Nordstrom and ShopStyle, but all product selections, styling, and major sucking-in are my own. Thank you for supporting Hi Sugarplum sponsors!*
The detox is real, ha,ha! I need to quit the Netflix binging w/extra toasty Cheese-its before bed!
This scalloped sports bra would make a darling swimsuit top. Or continue it on down w/a mini, mid-length or long skirt section.
Ok, I’ll quit now.
Sandy, the Netflix binge-ing is a real problem for us, too!!
You look great in this, and I just love that scalloped sports bra. No need to apologize or explain a tummy or anything else! As a fellow 48-year old, perfection is overrated, and life looks really good on you. You’re rocking it!
I’m so grateful for all my body has given me!! It took a few years to realize that, ha! xo. C
I have had such a girl crush on you and you have the cutest figure! Please keep showing what it is like to more “mature” (aging sucks) for real! Seeing so many of these younger bloggers with their perfect homes, perfectly cute bodies, perfect husbands can be disheartening sometimes <3
No life/body/relationship is perfect, we’re all just doing the best we can, right?! Much love to you, Nicki! xo. C
Thank you for never altering your photos. Truly appreciate it.
Thank you, Hayley! I’m committed to staying completely authentic in every area! xo. C
You look totally amazing. Just want to say thank you for posting that loose skin photo. Sure makes this 45 year old mama feel a bit more normal.
It’s taken a few years (okay, decades!) to be kinder to myself!! Now I’m grateful for my body and all it’s given me! xo. C
Oh my gosh! I’ve wondered how old you were but never wanted to ask you, you look amazing!! I’ve always admired how in shape you are and it gives me hope that I’ll be able to keep it together as I approach 40! And as far as the no wine no deserts I agree that I also have been way too dependent as a crutch during the pandemic. But I don’t do well being an all or nothing so I’ve been sticking to my macros! If I want wine I can have it just have to make sure it fits. Have a great weekend!
I keep waiting for the dessert cravings to subside…but alas they remain, ha! xo. C
I scrolled through your pics 2x looking for the “bad” one. Only by reading the captions did I reveal The One. Let me just say that I will be praying for your recovery after posting that terrible pic!! Lol 🥴
We’re our own worst critics, aren’t we, Pattie?! Have a great day! xo. C
Happy New Year Cassie!
My goal is to be kinder, more positive, and physically stronger. I decided to become more proficient in yoga and reward myself late in the year or next year (currently, she doesn’t have any scheduled due to pandemic but I’m sure she will as soon as we can travel!) by attending a yoga retreat hosted by Julie Montagu, Viscountess Hinchingbrooke at Mapperton Estate in Dorset, England! That would combine my love of travel, history and new year goal in one big splash!
I love this! Thanks so much for sharing, Linda! xo. C
Cassie , thank you for sharing that picture ! My stomach is just the same , 2 babies , 50 years and a pandemic 🙂
It is what it is, right?! 😉 xo. C
Meow! I like the leggings.
