Hi Sugarplum!

Game Day Yummies

January 27, 2014

Happy Monday, all. I hope you had a grand weekend. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to pin Mr. Sugarplum down to play musical rugs, but I’ve got my fingers crossed the floral rug will shine in the Dining Room. Don’t think I wouldn’t have tried it out by myself, but moving sofas and dining tables is kind of a two-man job. I was able to get cracking on Phase 1 of my craft closet, so hopefully I can share more on that soon.

Today I’m talking salt and sugar and crunchy and greasy… aka, football food! What is it about sporting events that gives us a free pass to eat junk? And the Super Bowl is like the State Fair of sporting events…the junkier the better. We had a heart-breaking loss last week when the Niners went down to the classless Seahawks, but we’ll still be whooping it up for the big game this weekend. I rounded up some yummy recipes for us, and created a fun, easy table to celebrate.

Hi Sugarplum | Game Day Table

Obviously I don’t have an arsenal of football decor, so I used what we had to set a festive scene. A simple roll of kraft paper and some number stencils made a fun table runner, and paper bags and plastic baskets are perfect for serving chips.

If you see Mr. Sugarplum, don’t mention the Niners unless you like seeing grown men cry. (He grew up in the Bay Area.) Will you be watching the Super Bowl this weekend? Are you cheering for the Broncos, Seahawks, or the commercials? What glutenous snacks will you be serving up?

I root for the commercials 😉 unless the Steelers are in it. I'm more of a college basketball girl but any excuse to drink and eat; and I'm in – ha!

gotta go with the broncos.. that classless interview at the end of the seahawks/49ers game left a yucky taste in my mouth! and i know he's apologized but still.. but i do like their quarterback! but not as much as i like Peyton. Plus my sister lives in Denver and I have no one that lives in Seattle. Yes, that is how I determine which team to root for.. haha! I am going to make those bacon wrapped jalapeno poppers! Thanks for that one and GO BRONCOS!

GO BRONCOS!! Colorado-girl here, and admitted fair weather fan! It's just so fun to see your whole city (and state) get behind something!

I will be watching at half time. I CAN'T wait to see Bruno Mars perform. Our team, :The Packers," didn't make it, but, I love me some Bruno Mars!! Might try some of those food ideas too.

Ummm…I will probably be watching Downton Abbey on Sunday 🙂 But those snacks look pretty tasty. I could maybe be convinced to watch if I were being served these yummies!

My hubby is also a 49er fan from his growing up in California days, I still don't think he has recovered from the loss…. Maybe if I whip him up some of these fun foods he can get over it quicker 😉

I live near the bay area and I am NOT a Niner fan so I was elated to see them lose. Of course, my Cowboys didn't make it very far either, but that's another story! The wings, poppers, and corn dip look delicious!!

Love your tablescape! So fun! I don't care much about the game (or the commercials, for that matter), but I'm for an excuse for eating junk!
