Five Ways | Yellow Rain Jacket

Hey friends! Welcome back to a new week! How was your weekend? We had a really full Saturday, and a super lazy Sunday…so it was kind of perfect. We caught up on ‘Homeland’ and I made a serious dent in my new book…so I guess that’s one good thing about all this rain…the perfect excuse to stay in and chill!

But really, it’s been raining almost non-stop for close to a month, so obviously my rainboots and jacket have been working overtime. But when your jacket is as cheery as mine, you can make your own sunshine!

This jacket was a life-saver for our trip through Scandinavia, but I never imagined just how much use I’d get out of it here, too! Not only is it darling and a great addition to so many outfits, but it’s surprisingly warm and insulated, and keeps me really dry even in a downpour!

You could go with a more neutral color, but I’m partial to the brights…especially since I’m likely wearing it on dull and dreary days. It has a way of lifting my mood.

Fit Tip: I sized up to a US 4 for a looser fit, and room for layering.

As for rainboots, I was never convinced I’d get much wear out of them living in Texas, but I finally caved several years ago and bought an inexpensive pair. Within the first month, I was shocked by how many occasions I was able to wear them. Needed to wear them, in fact!

Rain, snow, mud…I tromped right through it all! But the problem with cheap rubber is it wears out after a single season, and I had to toss those first boots soon after (they cracked and split in several places).

So I grabbed a pair of Hunter boots and never looked back! I’ve had this same pair for years now, and they still shine up good as new (I use this spray)! And SALE ALERT!! They’re 40% off!!!

Fit Tip: They don’t come in half-sizes, so go down. I still have room for a thick sock!

After a few years with my black rainboots, I knew just how much wear I got out of them, so I decided to add a color. But this time opted for the lighter, packable rainboot. They are perfect for travel because they pack really flat, or even roll up to the size of a shoe! Plus, they’re significantly lighter, so they don’t test the 50-pound limit at the airport!

Fit Tip: The sizing is the same as original Hunter boots, size down if you’re a half size.

These are the distressed skinny jeans I shared with you in a recent DRD…they are seriously so soft and stretchy! They’re cropped for Spring, which makes them great for sandals, but also tucking into boots!

Fit Tip: They stretch out, so I’d size down.

This post isn’t a traditional Five Ways…but I wanted to show how much wear I get out of this jacket…even on dry days! It’s just as cute with my favorite slip-on sneakers.

Oh, my gosh, you are too cute! I’m usually drawn to red in raincoats but that sunshine yellow is fantastic. We just had winter here in So Cal last week so I’m not sure if I’d get any use out of a rain jacket this season, but I’m super tempted to grab one along with a polka dot umbrella!
