Everything You Need to Know About the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

Welcome back, friends! It’s a super-exciting week here on Hi Sugarplum because The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is only a few days away! I’ve had lots of questions about the Sale and whether or not I’d be covering it…which made me realize I haven’t done a good job of prepping you! This post will hopefully answer all your questions, and get you as psyched as me for this legendary shopping event!

When does it happen?

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale (or NSale to hard-core fans) opens to the public on July 20th, and will run through August 5th. But cardholders (more about that in a bit) get first dibs with Early Access on July 12. Yep, cardholders get a full eight days to shop the NSale before it opens up to everyone. Hello perks!

Here’s a breakdown of the important dates and times, don’t forget to mark your calendars:
July 12 – Early Access Begins for all Cardholder levels
July 19 – Last Day of Early Access
July 20 – Anniversary Sale opens to the Public
August 5 – Last Day of the Anniversary Sale

Why all the fuss about the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale?

While Nordstrom holds half-yearly sales each spring and fall (marking down older inventory), the Anniversary Sale is special because it’s brand-new, never seen Fall merchandise…marked down 40% for a limited time! It’s all the newest trends and items, on sale before the season! Once the Sale is over, every piece will go to the regular, full price.

This event has become legendary among Nordstrom customers who enjoy outstanding savings on the most exciting new fall merchandise, along with plenty of stuff for summer.”

How do I get Early Access?

All you need is a Nordstrom card…either the credit card, or a debit card. You know I’m a slave to earning airline mileage, so I opt for the debit card…and in all honesty, the only time I ever pull it out is to gain access to the NSale! (There are tons of perks for having the card, like free alterations, earning points and credits, etc.) If you don’t have one yet, you can apply here and start using it same day!

Why is Early Access so important?

While the Nordstrom buyers do their best to have inventory for everyone who wants it, there is no crystal ball to determine what customers will love most. Which means the most-popular items will go fast. Like same-day fast! And since the NSale is such a short period of time, there isn’t the opportunity for restocks (until after the Sale, and sale prices, end).

Should I shop in-store or online?

I guess that depends…are you the kind of shopper who goes to the mall on Black Friday? Then by all means, head to the store and revel in the hoards of people. I’m an online girl, from the comfort of my quiet house and pajamas! Plus, the online inventory is so much more extensive than in-store! If you have a local Nordstrom though, I do love their Buy Online, Pick-Up In Store option! Most will even deliver to your car curbside so you don’t even have the hassle of parking.

What’s going to be included?

The Catalog can be viewed here, but it’s only a fraction of what will be included in the Sale (and frankly, a little underwhelming). But because of my relationship with Nordstrom (that whole having a clothing line thing #braggert), I’ve seen full peeks, and even already have some of the best pieces. And oh my wow!!

It includes amazing deals in all categories: Women, Men, Kids, Home and Beauty.

When will your Anniversary Sale posts go live? What posts can we expect?

Think of me as your personal shopper/tour guide! I’ve got early-early access to so many pieces, and will begin sharing the best of the best (I don’t show every single piece, only the things I love most) at my usual posting time on Thursday, July 12 at 4:00am CST! My Early Access Opening Day post will include my initial favorites, and highlight the best deals (like NeuLash Serum and Barefoot Dreams cardigans…yes ma’am, both are included at drastically reduced prices!!)

Friday, July 13 will be a giant Dressing Room Diaries (featuring Mama Sugarplum!), and more of our faves. What will you be shopping for first?

The question is likely what won’t I be shopping for? I always grab new boots, sneakers, sweaters, jeans, workout wear, loungewear and undies. The kids get new shoes and basics for Back to School, and Mr. SP updates his work wardrobe and shoes. It’s a hefty investment, but the savings are so worth it. And they’re pieces we wear for years.

I use the NSale as an opportunity to update my closet basics, and also add some trendy new pieces. And if you’ve had your eye on a designer piece (like bags, shoes, coats, etc), now is a great time to nab them with a deeply discounted price.
