Dressing Room Diaries

Cheers to Friday, friends, and the weekend ahead! We’re a week away from Homecoming, so it’s operation ‘find a suit’ for the teen! I didn’t realize how much he’d grown until he tried on last year’s suit! That was comical! I tried to convince him the style was to wear it tight and cropped, but he didn’t fall for it. I love that he’s growing, but it’s painful replacing special occasion clothes, right!?

Thanks for your love on this week’s Cozy Chic styles, along with my outfit round-up and video gift guide! It’s hard to sit on opposite sides of the computer sometimes, so I always love hearing from you!

Today I’m excited to bring you another Dressing Room Diaries, and this one is a beast, with so many great finds for Fall. Plus, I have Mama Sugarplum with me, so you know it’s got her special charm!

You know the drill with Dressing Room Diaries…I hunt down some of the cutest items from my favorite retailers, and review them for you. As usual, the shots aren’t good, the lighting is bad, and I’m in desperate need of a hairbrush. But it’s real life, real girl, real clothes…and hopefully helpful for you to see them this way, instead of perfectly styled on a model. So let’s get started!

Fit Note: I’m 5’4″-ish, 120 pounds-ish (depending on the week’s taco count), with a slight pear shape. My usual size is XS/0. Mama Sugarplum is 5’1″, with an hourglass figure. Her usual size is XS/2p.

Let’s start with one of my favorite finds, shall we!? Ya’ll always want to know what I actually keep…and I not only kept this perfect sweater, but I ordered it in a second color! It’s soft, plush, stretchy and warm, with an amazing fit and mock neck collar. Perfect worn alone, but really cute with a popped collar under, too. It comes in a ton of great colors, and I want them all!

Fit Tip: I’m wearing an XS and it’s a perfect fit. I did order the black in small for a more relaxed fit…so size according to your fit preference.

Mockneck Sweater in Supersoft Yarn | High Rise Ankle Jeans | Leopard Flats

This merino wool sweater has been at the top of my favorites list for years…I have it in several colors and wear it constantly. It’s the perfect weight for warm Fall days, and layers beautifully when it’s cooler. I wear it with jeans, trousers, and tucked into skirts. I added this black to my collection during the latest sale, and can’t wait to layer it over plaids this holiday. (Use code 25HOURS for 35% off!)

This circle belt is a great addition, too…simple and chic.

Fit Tip: I size up to a small for a relaxed fit.

Crewneck Merino Sweater (Use code 25HOURS for 35% off!) | Circle BeltHigh Rise Ankle Jeans | Leopard Flats

This knit sweater is the perfect light weight for layering under jackets, and comes in the best jewel tones. The sleeves have a fun slit to give it a little pizzazz, and the material extra soft.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing a regular XS and it’s a little wide, and the sleeves too long. Definitely size down.

Crewneck Sweater with Slit Sleeve | Distressed Jeans | Knee Boots | Hoop Earrings

Mama SP is in an XS, and it’s a good fit for her. Isn’t the teal blue stunning!?

Crewneck Sweater with Slit Sleeve | Distressed Jeans | Knee Boots | White Jeans | Similar Booties | Hoop Earrings

More fun sleeve details…this crewneck sweater ties at the cuffs. It’s the perfect shade of tan for dark or white denim, and the material thin enough for tucking.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing XS

Tie-Cuff Sweater | Jeans | Leopard Flats | Hoop Earrings

Same sweater dressed up with a little leopard skirt. So sassy! The skirt is a thick, stretchy jacquard fabric, and the shape somewhere between a-line and straight. The leopard is spot-on #ha and pairs with all shades of brown or black.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing a reg 0. So I’d steer clear of the petite unless you’re 5’1″ and under!

Tie-Cuff Sweater | Leopard SkirtHoop Earrings

Another soft and cozy sweater…this one a stretchy wool blend (but not itchy). It’s hard to see in the pic, but the stripes are a combo of grays and blush pink. The side has a tulip hem, giving it a feminine touch, and perfect for leaving out.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing an XS

Striped Sweater | Jeans | Leopard Flats | Hoop Earrings

This fun plaid is from my friend Erin’s new Cozy Collection, and it lives up to the name! It’s a cool, drapey material, that hangs well and comes in two feminine plaids. The front has little pleats that dress it up a bit, but still feels so comfortable. The sleeves button at the wrist, but I’m a roller.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing a reg XS and it’s wide in the neck and body, so definitely size down one.

Plaid BlouseHigh Rise Ankle Jeans | Leopard Flats

Let’s oogle over Mama Sugarplum and some cute casual Friday outfits, shall we!? She loved the sweet floral print of this blouse with the exaggerated sleeve, especially layered under the chunky cardigan. Perfect paired with her favorite dark, stretchy jeans!

Fit Tip: She’s wearing XS in the tops, and 4p in the jeans.

Long Cardigan | Floral Blouse | Dark Jeans | Similar Booties

This look was both our favorite…so preppy, and the colors perfect for Fall. The shirt is a crisp, stretchy cotton, and cardigan a soft knit. I love the striped trim on the cardigan!

Fit Tip: She’s wearing Small shirt, XS cardigan and 4p jeans.

Preppy Cardigan | Windowpane ShirtDark Jeans | Similar Booties

Hopping in with another great cardigan…this one is thick ribbed with open front and pockets. It’s a flattering mid-thigh length, and fully covers the bum (hello, leggings!).

Fit Tip: The striped tee runs small, so size up, but the cardigan true to size. I’m in a S and XS, respectively.

Open Cardigan | Striped TeeJeans | Leopard Flats

Up next are a few Work Wear styles, starting with this gorgeous printed blouse. I love the graphic, yet feminine, print, and the little ruffle around the collar. So pretty worn alone, or peeking out from under a blazer. Add some statement earrings and it becomes a great night-out top, too.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing a reg XS and it’s a little big, so I’d size down.

Graphic Blouse | Black Pants

Can you tell by her face she was smitten by this tweed jacket? I was surprised by how much I loved the yellow on her, too. The jacket is thick with raw hems, and a gorgeous navy plaid. Wear it to work, or throw it on with jeans for a casual, yet chic, combo.

Fit Tip: She’s wearing a size 2 jacket and small tee.

Tweed Jacket | Crewneck Tee

This blazer was love-at-first sight for me! I’m shocked by how well it fits…almost as if it were tailored just for me! The sleeves and shoulders fall at just the right spot, and I’m crazy for the little collar. It even nips in at waist for a flattering, slimming effect. It’s knit, but extra thick and doesn’t feel too casual. Definitely works with jeans and trousers.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing a petite XS

Knit Blazer | Lace CamisoleHigh Rise Ankle Jeans | Leopard Flats

Another fun piece from the Gibson x Living in Yellow Cozy Collection…this pullover sweatshirt has a funnel neck that opens or buttons tall. It has a front pouch pocket, and even thumbholes in the sleeves!

Fit Tip: I’m wearing a reg XS

Funnel Neck SweatshirtHigh Rise Ankle Jeans

Now this combo is taking cozy to the next level…this is pretty much my weekend at-home uniform. Feels like pajamas, but looks like clothes! Both pieces are Gibson’s signature soft fleece, that’s has a way of being warm, but still cool to the touch. I’ve been living in these joggers for a year…great with sneakers for running errands, and of course, long flights!

The pullover sweatshirt has a front pouch pocket and drawstring hood, and looks really cute with jeans, too.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing XS in both pieces, but would prefer a size down in the hoodie pullover.

Fleece Hoodie | Fleece Joggers

You saw this faux wrap top in my Cozy Meets Chic post recently…and it was styled for a night out. I love it with a tee and joggers for a super casual look, too!

Fit Tip: I’m wearing XS in both, but need to size down in the top.

Fleece Wrap Top | V-Neck Tank | Fleece Joggers

Okay…y’all really loved last year’s All About Tunics post, so I’m hard at work on an updated version! It seems longer cardigans are plentiful, but the issue is always finding a top to layer that fully covers the front! #coveryourladybitsladies I couldn’t wait to share this tee…that’s not only the perfect length for leggings (layer it under all your long cardigans!), but it’s soft, striped, and a steal!!!

The leggings are thick cotton knit with a comfortable, high waist…and also an amazing price!

Fit Tip: I’m wearing an XS. I could probably size down, but prefer it to fit loosely against my body, as opposed to hugging.

Long Tunic Tee | Leggings

Still going with the cozy…how cute is this Love sweatshirt!? I’d layer it over plaid or gingham for a little extra color and pattern. Cute with jeans and joggers, it’s a thick, traditional sweatshirt material, with a terry lining.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing a small

Love Sweatshirt | Jeans | Sneakers

Seriously y’all….grab this half-zip pullover fast, because it won’t last long and will be one of your most-worn pieces this season! And while you’re at it, grab the pink one! And you might as well get this darling color blocked sweater since it’s on sale, too!

Fit Tip: I sized up to a small for relaxed fit

Plaid Fleece Pullover | Dark Jeans | Loafers

The thing I miss most in cooler months are dresses. There just aren’t as many options in Fall, unless they’re super dressy or formal. So I was excited to find this pretty midi in a gorgeous deep plum…perfect print and color for Fall. It comes in several patterns, but this was my fave by far.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing an XS, and it fits great everywhere but the chest. I would likely need to layer a bralette or cami under. But if you’re larger than an A-cup, you’ll be fine.

Floral Midi Dress

Okay, let’s talk party dresses!! With the holidays upon us, I’ve had lots of requests for all kinds of festive options. (Don’t forget Gibson x Glam launches November 12, and is a jackpot of holiday tops!!) This dress is overflowing with sass, but still completely classy. The material is thick and stretchy, and good at smoothing without hugging too tight. I love the flutter sleeves and flounce hem, and the color a deep, dark pink (it looks more red in these pics). The back dips a little lower, but it’s still bra-friendly..

Fit Tip: I’m wearing a reg 2

Ruffle Trim Flounce Dress | Heels

One of my biggest dilemmas when dressing up in cooler months, is what to wear over my dress! Even my cutest coats always seem so bulky. Cue this pretty faux-fur capelet!! It’s super soft and warm, and snaps in place. Obviously it’s no Winter coat, but just enough for coming and going, and not only doesn’t detract from your dress…it’s makes it better!

Fit Tip: This is a small, but my regular XS would be best.

Faux-Fur CapeletRuffle Trim Flounce Dress | Heels

Looking for something full-on sass…this lace stunner is your winner! The lace is thick and substantial, in a gorgeous deep green. The cutouts give just enough peeks of skin, but you’re still fully covered. I love the higher neck and extra details across the chest.

Fit Tip: I sized up to a small for a less body-con fit, but it’s a little big in the chest. I could fill it out with a stick-on bra though

Lace Dress

Hello, feathers! This boatneck top would be fun for parties! I’d pair it with bootcut jeans and leopard heels. And if the feathers aren’t your game, they’re removable!

Fit Tip: I’m wearing an XS

Feather Trim TopHigh Rise Ankle Jeans | Leopard Flats

Ever since trying that ruffled bodysuit in my last Amazon Fashion Finds post, I’m kind of obsessed! Confession: I tuck my tops in my undies to get a smooth, tight fit. So why have I not been wearing bodysuits until now?! I love this one tucked in high-waisted jeans, and can’t wait to find the perfect holiday skirt to pair it with, too!

Fit Tip: I sized up to a small because I have a long torso and don’t want to fight a wedgie all day. The legs on this one are low and comfortable!

Turtleneck BodysuitHigh Rise Ankle JeansHeels

And finally, let’s talk coats and jackets! I adore this classic trench…the perfect shade of sand and great a-line fit. But bonus because it’s hooded and rain-resistant, too!

Fit Tip: I’m wearing an XS and have plenty of room for layers.

Hooded Trench | Distressed Jeans | Knee Boots | Hoop Earrings

This cape is unexpected, but something about it really grabbed me. It zips or buttons up the front, and ties at the waist. The sleeves are completely open and drape over your arms…so it’s fitted through the body with loose sleeves. Just check out the detail pics on the website to see what I’m trying poorly to say!

Fit Tip: I’m wearing an XS

Cute bomber jacket alert!! And a great price! It’s a thick boiled wool feel, but fully lined, and the perfect shade of blush pink.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing a small

Pink Bomber Jacket | Dark Jeans | Loafers

I’ve had this perfect moto jacket in brown for years (see it styled here), and jumped at the chance to grab it in black! It’s fitted through through the shoulders and has a flattering silhouette when zipped. I love that it’s feminine enough to wear with dresses and skirts, and adds a little edge to more casual outfits. Plus, it’s under $100!

Fit Tip: I size up to a small for more room in the arms.

And lastly, it’s only fitting we end with my favorite of the bunch…this stunning coat in vibrant pink! Don’t let the color fool you though, it’s a serious coat! Serious about Winter and keeping you warm! It’s a thick, heavy wool with extra layer of banding at the neck and wrists, and tall collar. The style and fit are classic and timeless, so it’s one to keep for years to come. But don’t worry if pink isn’t your signature color, this gorgeous coat comes in a ton of options! (Use code 25HOURS for 35% off!)

The tie-cuff sweater is such a nice twist on classy/classic.
Nobody does stripes, plaids and prints like Da’Sugarplum! Mama SP too!

Sorry, but some of your links are not correct. The pink wool coat comes up as Tweed Lurex® lady coat with braided trim. It’s not the same style as pictured. Also, your turtleneck bodysuit comes up as Scoopneck stretch velvet bodysuit. I didn’t click on the others, so I can’t confirm whether those links are correct.
