Brand Crush | Patagonia

Happy Wednesday, friends! We’re halfway through the week, and I just realized it’s a holiday weekend ahead! Even better, a weekend with no sports or plans! That’s enough to put a bounce in my step!

I also want to take a moment to thank you for all your kind comments on yesterday’s One Word post. It’s never easy to open yourself up like that, and you not only embraced me, but shared your own struggles and journeys in the comments, too. I’m grateful for this community, and inspired by you!!

Today I’m highlighting one of my go-to outerwear brands, Patagonia. No surprise there, right?! If you’ve followed me for a winter season, then you’ve seen this brand on repeat around here. Patagonia goes with me to the Grand Canyon and Big Bend, on ski trips, Alaskan cruises, and even just around town.

Patagonia even dominated my Gift Guide for Outdoor Enthusiasts last month. After sharing that post (find it HERE), I had several questions asking about the different styles and which were my faves, so today I’m breaking down the pieces in my closet.

It goes without saying that Backcountry is my go-to source for all things Patagonia (and outdoor in general)! They have the very best prices, and the customer service and shipping can’t be beat. Before every big adventure, my first call is always to their Gearheads…experts in the field that offer free advice on the essential gear for a safe and comfortable experience.

Pullovers

Re-Tool Snap-T Fleece Pullover //

My most-worn style, the Re-Tool Snap-T Fleece Pullover is a Patagonia classic. It’s made of warm Polartec performance fleece, that’s super soft and warm, but not bulky or overly-heavy. It has a kangaroo pouch for holding essentials, and keeping hands warm.

I love the tall collar and open hem for a looser fit around the bum. It comes in tons of colors, and I’m always grabbing another when they go on sale!

Fit Tip: I size up in all Patagonia for easier layering, I’m wearing a small.

Organic Cotton Quilted Snap-T Pullover Sweatshirt //

The softest of the Patagonia pullovers, the Quilted Snap-T Pullover Sweatshirt has a similar fit to the Re-Tool Fleece, but is made of luxurious organic cotton. It doesn’t have side pockets, but does have a small chest placket that holds a key. The cuffs at the sleeves and waist keep cold out, and give it a true sweatshirt fit.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing a small

Lightweight Snap-T Fleece Pullover //

The Lightweight Snap-T Pullover has the longest window of wearability thanks to the lightweight fleece. It’s the perfect light weight for early Spring and Fall days, but easily layers when days get cold.

Spandex cuffs and waist lock in body heat, and the double-faced fleece ensures a soft fit.

Fit Tip: I like this one really oversized for pairing with leggings, too… I’m wearing a medium

Los Gatos Quarter Zip Pullover //

The most-recent addition to my Patagonia collection, the Los Gatos Quarter Zip Pullover is made of high-pile fleece for a plush and cozy fit. Soft enough for lounging around the house, but warm for serious outdoor wear.

It has a tall collar and quarter zip, with an open hem for a relaxed fit around the hips. It doesn’t have pockets, but comes in the best colors! It has the fullest pile of the Patagonia pullovers, so has a ‘fluffier’ fit.

Fit Tip: Definitely size up one in this style, preferably two for the comfiest oversized fit. I’m wearing a medium

Jackets & Vests

Los Gatos Fleece Jacket //

Similar to the Los Gatos Quarter Zip Pullover, but with a full-zip jacket fit. Same plush, high-pile fleece and tall collar, it’s perfect for throwing on after a workout or in place of a heavier jacket on chilly days.

The Los Gatos Fleece Jacket has a silky liner for easily slipping on over layers without bunching up, and pockets.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing a small

Retro Pile Hooded Jacket //

My most-worn fleece jacket, I adore the throwback style of the Retro Pile Hooded Jacket! It’s double-sided fleece, making it warm and soft over tanks or long-sleeves.

I love the contrasting trim, oversized fit and longer length. It even has side pockets and zipped chest pocket.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing a small

Better Sweater Jacket //

This Patagonia Better Sweater Jacket has been in my closet a looooong time, and still looks good as new! It’d consider it more of a sweatshirt than jacket, made a poly-knit fabric that has a wool-like aesthetic. It’s the perfect weight for throwing on after workouts in spring or fall, or zip it up as a great base layer in winter.

It’s incredibly versatile, with zippered side pockets and even one on the sleeve.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing a small, it has the slimmest fit of all the Patagonia styles

Los Gatos Vest //

The Los Gatos fluffy fleece I love so much, but in a vest style. The Los Gatos Vest is a great layer over long-sleeve tops, and perfect under heavier coats for added warmth.

On super cold days, I prefer to layer vests under jackets rather than full pullovers since they keep the body warm, without adding bulk in the arms.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing a small, but if you’re busty I’d go up 2 sizes for more room in the armpit

Coats

Down Hooded Jacket //

We’ve had a legit cold weather lately (not just ‘Texas cold’), with actual snow! Of course it didn’t stick, but the first thing I reached for was my Patagonia Down Hooded Jacket! It’s one of the warmest coats I own, but without any of the bulk that usually comes with true cold-weather jackets.

The 800-fill down is responsibly-sourced and super warm, with a lightweight fit and longer length for more coverage. The insulated hood seals around the face when needed, and it even repels light rain and moisture. Even better, it packs down to the size of a small football for easy travel!

Fit Tip: I’m wearing a small

Nano Puff Insulated Jacket //

Similar to the Down Hooded Jacket, but a little lighter and thinner…and this style with no hood. Another quality I love about these Patagonia puffers is their durability! I’ve raced past tree branches on the bike, without a single scratch or tear. Plus, they don’t get soggy or weighed down with precipitation.

The Nano Puff Insulated Jacket also has a compressionable design that folds compactly into it’s own pocket for easy packing and storage.

Fit Tip: I’m wearing a small.

Clearly my Patagonia passion runs strong! I’ve had many of these pieces for years (hence some of the past-season colors), so you can see how well they hold up to regular washing and constant wearing!

In fact, many of these pieces I’ve owned well over a decade…the quality is truly unmatched! Patagonia even backs their products with a lifetime warranty!!

My family adores all things Patagonia, as well, with the Re-Tool Snap-T Fleece Pullover a Little Miss fave, and the Los Gatos Quarter-Zip at the top of Mr. College’s list. The Nano Puff Vest is probably the most-worn item in Mr. SP’s entire closet!

And yep…we found them all at Backcountry! You can’t beat free two-day shipping, and as always, you can save 15% off your first Backcountry.com order with code SUGARPLUM15 (exclusions apply).

Are you a Patagonia fan, too? Which styles are your favorites? If you’re more of a North Face fan (another incredible brand!), you’ll be thrilled to know Backcountry currently has up to 30% off past-season styles! Find those HERE.
