Cheers to Friday, friends! We’ve got more rain ahead (if that’s even possible at this point!), and I’m kind of happy about that. I love a good excuse to lay low and be a couch potato with the family. And I’m sure I’ll find something else I can wash! (Check out yesterday’s Laundry Room update to see why I’m fawning over laundry!)
A few weekends ago, I packed up and headed to Dallas with some of my favorite blogger-buds. Technically (as far as Mr. SP is concerned anyway) it was for a blogger conference. And sure I picked up a few bloggy tips, but it was mostly an excuse for a girl’s weekend and excessive taco-consumption.
I kid…We were mostly excited to catch-up on girl talk and sleep, so we left da clubs to the single ladies! And because I made a legit effort to get fully dressed everyday, I thought I’d share what I wore all weekend. It was a combination of classroom sessions, luncheons, and cocktail parties.
What does it say about us that we don’t hesitate to selfie, or get embarrassed about it?! But how else are we going to over-share on the internet if we don’t document it?! 😉 I jumped at the chance to try Rent the Runway again, and hit another home run with this dress. It was perfect for the pool-side cocktail party. (Read all about my experience with Rent the Runway here.)
I adore all these girls, and loved the chance to recharge and reconnect. If you aren’t following their blogs, you’re definitely missing out on great style inspiration!
Ya’ll have gone bananas over this dress…and I wish I could find it for you, but I bought it on super clearance at a local boutique. Hence why I refrained from showing you the adorable open back…figured no sense in rubbing your nose in it! 😉 (Update: a reader found this one on eBay!)
I have lots of favorite items in my closet, but the one thing I reach for time and again, the one piece that makes me feel confident no matter the situation, and most like myself…is this floral skirt. I’ve paired it with everything from stripes and solids, to dots and gingham…and I know I’ll shed a tear when it finally bites the dust.
I found this old pic from the very same conference two years ago! I even wore the skirt to the BHG Stylemaker Event last Fall! Do you have that one piece in your closet that makes you feel like a Superwoman/Girl Boss every time you wear it?! You should!
Style Tip: Even if you repeat-wear items around the same people…I promise no one will notice! And if they do, oh well! It’s more important to feel good and confident, than it is to sport some new outfit everyone will forget the next day! #preach #soapbox
For the final night’s party, I broke out of my fit-and-flare comfort zone, and wore the dress ya’ll chose in this post. I’ll admit, I felt a bit more on display than I’m usually comfortable with, but it was also kind of empowering to put my body out there. Does that make sense? (I mean tastefully, Mom, don’t panic!)
I think I’ve been in ponytails every day since…but it was so fun to put extra effort into my daily style, and make time for myself and my girlfriends. In fact, I’m ready to go again!! When’s the last time you made time for yourself? And what’s your #girlboss item of clothing? I’d love to hear! Happy weekend, lovebugs!
