Blog Inspired Home

I mentioned how I devoured the July/August issue of TradHome. Usually I just look at the pictures, but I was drawn to the article, Best of Show. Reason being, the homeowner designed her Houston home with the help and influence of shelter magazines, show homes and blogs!

I know my own taste has changed (and hopefully improved) since I fell down the rabbit-hole of blogging, and as a result, my home is changing too. If you’re a fan of design blogs, you’ll surely recognize many of the elements in this home.

Even with so much design inspiration at our fingertips, I think designers are still an essential piece in a home’s design puzzle. Blogs and shelter magazines have exposed us to so much, and helped me to define my preferred style. I think if I were to work with a designer in my home now, as opposed to two years ago, I’d be a much more informed, open-minded and involved client.

What about you? Have blogs and shelter magazines had an impact on the spaces you create? And how about you, designers, how have they changed the clients you work with?

  2. I always look to magazines, the Style section of the Washington Post, blogs & decor websites for inspiration. I wouldn't be as gutsy about design choices in my home without them!!!

P.S. TRADhome & Traditional Home are two different mags. TRADhome is the online collaboration of Lonny & Traditional Home 🙂 I love all three!

  3. blogs have definitely made me more aware of the things I love and would like to add in a home. I can't decide what I love most about the pictures above. It may just be the over-sized dog print though…

    Hi Cassie,
I, too, loved this Trad Home article. I kept going back to see all the great details. I definitely think my style and confidence in decorating has evolved with Blogs. I think most design bloggers have such a great sense of self AND humor that I've taken more risks and made more mistakes to get the final result I want.

  11. Yes. I love that my clients have a good idea of the direction they want to head. It makes it much easier to complete a design that they love.
