A Montana River Wedding

Oh Monday…here already!? We had a beautiful, not-chilly, weekend. I guess we’ll just continue to pine for Fall while floating in the pool!? #victim #sarcasm Mr. SP was out of town, so the kids and I basically had a three-day sleepover of slothdom and snacks! Isn’t it interesting how much the family dynamic changes when someone’s missing?

Today I’m excited to share one of the most gorgeous weddings I’ve ever experienced…that just so happened to be my sister’s! You may remember we spent a week in Montana this Summer (see the posts here and here)…and while we made a family vacation of the trip, the main purpose was the wedding weekend. It was a true family affair…with me as the matron-of-honor, Little Miss a flower girl, the teenager was an usher, and Mr. SP provided the ceremony music.

My sister, Caroline, and her darling new husband, Corry, are river guides in Big Sky, and the wedding was a beautiful reflection of their love of the mountains, river, and Montana in general. It combined her Texas roots, with their new Montana life…flowers that were the perfect blend of wild and refined, as though they’d just been picked, Vera Wang gown and cowboy boots, and champagne served with a BBQ dinner.

The ceremony was held on the banks of the Gallatin River, where they first met, under an arbor Corry built. #canyoueven A storm loomed in the distance, making the whole scene swirl with a feeling of surrealism and make-believe. Considering Caroline is the biggest Disney fan ever, I’d say it was a perfect setting.

I’m #ahem quite a bit older than my brother and sisters, so my love for them is borderline maternal, and my adoration more aunt-like, but my unending support and protectiveness is pure big sister. Needless to say, it was a very special day, and I’m so blessed to have these amazing humans in my life.

Mr. Sugarplum lent his artistic hand, and painted all the oars, pallets, and boards that were used around the ceremony and reception. You thought he was just silly in dressing rooms! 🙂

Seeing my own children play the same roles in her wedding, as my brother and sisters played in mine, had me pretty emotional most of the day. And bursting with pride at the kind and loving people they’ve become. #pmsmuch

The reception was held in a large log-cabin, with wild and dramatic centerpieces, a huge BBQ spread, country rock band, and a photo-booth. Little Miss surprised us all by catching the bouquet, then becoming the belle of the ball and dancing all night! I even got quite a few dances with my son, who never stopped smiling.

I hit the brother-in-law jackpot with this guy…but most importantly, he loves my sister unconditionally.

It was a magical day that looked as if it was plucked right out of A River Runs Through It…minus a Brad Pitt appearance. To see more of our trip to Montana, click here and here. And scenes from the bachelorette party in New York City are here.
I hope this little peek of pretty perks up your Monday! Have a great day, lovebugs!
