Back in September, I made an Easy Fall Centerpiece for the Dining Room table. But nothing can get too comfortable in this house, because sooner, rather than later, it’s going to get changed-up and moved around!
I just loved this Thankful Tree by Simply Vintage Girl, and pinned it for an easy Fall Project idea. But of course forgot about it until Emily made a cute one on DecorChick. Since we don’t have a lot of flat unused surfaces, I decided to use my existing centerpiece as the tree instead of creating a new one.
If you recall, I started with this:
It’s virtually the same now, but I replaced the mini-pumpkins with a bag of scented pine cones (left over from my Pine Cone Wreath). The smaller vase filler allowed the stems to spread out, so it’s a bit wider.
Then the kids took turns writing what they are thankful for on small tags, and hanging them with jute string from the tree.
I helped Babygirl write hers, but she added her own special touch with markers.
Office supply stores are a great resource for inexpensive tags, like the yellow ones my son used.
I decided to keep the tree solely for them, since my list of wine, Taco Bueno, and Edward Cullen probably wouldn’t have set the right example.
It was a quick and easy project, but a great excuse to reflect on all our blessings. The kids are really thinking about it now, and are adding new tags every day. I think I’ll save them once the holiday is over. Something tells me I’ll want to remember their lists.
You guys would totally make my list, too. Right after Target.
