5 Things I Can’t Live Without

Thank you so much for all the mad props on my Faux Crown Molding yesterday! It was so much fun to read your reactions. Hopefully now you can tell there is real progress going on in Babygirl’s Room!

My amazeballs friend, Chassity, over at Look Linger Love, tagged me in this fun ‘5 Things I Can’t Live Without’ Series. Of course her list was glamorous and full of style, just like her. Mine is gritty and a little skanky, just like…wait. Nevermind.

Before you judge me for being shallow, keep in mind this list is all in fun. I’m not going to put anything obvious like oxygen, water, my toothbrush or chocolate. Everyone needs those.

Psssst Dry Shampoo

Everyone knows you’re not supposed to wash your hair everyday (no, you’re NOT, Mother!). So while I’m not capable of going to bed without a shower first, my head doesn’t get under the water as often. There are plenty of dry shampoos on the market, but this is my favorite because it smells nice, gives me an extra day without washing, and it’s cheap! I buy 6 cans at a time from drugstore.com! See? Skanky.

Paint

I love going to the paint store, or staring at all the rows of pretty color swatches at Home Depot. Bright, neutral, satin, spray….I’m always amazed at the power of paint, no bigger bang for your buck. I’m always itching to paint something. In fact, I have a friend who’s afraid to come over because she says I’ll paint her if she stands still long enough.

Dexter on Netflix

We just started watching Dexter, and have flown through the first season! It’s so good and creepy, and I’m beyond hooked. Which is weird, because I hate scary or super suspenseful movies. This is a two-parter since we’ve also become dependent on the Netflix app. It’s amazing, tons of movies and shows available instantly! We just plug my iPhone in to the TV, and the Dexter marathon begins!

Travel

Picnik collage

When I don’t have paint, fabric and projects on the brain, I’m usually thinking about where I want to travel next…road trip one town over, or across an ocean…it matters not to me! Even if I don’t have a trip planned, I love to dream of all the places I hope to see in my lifetime. This is one of the reasons I do so much on the ‘frugal’ side…traveling is our indulgence (not that we don’t travel frugally too!) Mr. Sugarplum and I are venturing to Paris and Belgium  in the Spring *squeeeeeeel* This is our second time in Paris, and first in Belgium, and I haven’t even begun to plan it out! I’d welcome any tips you have for the areas!

Friends & Family

Okay, so I got a little cliche…but I truly couldn’t live without my family! They fill my life with so much love and laughter….heck, even a trip to the grocery is fun when it’s with them!
And now I have to tag another blogger to continue the series. Little Megan, at Honey We’re Home, you’re it!

I have seriously never heard of dry shampoo. Does it work good? I would think it would leave your hair greasy, no? lol.

    Have a great day! 🙂

Great list Cassie. I think I need to get my hands on some of that dry shampoo. Everyone knows its better for their hair not to wash it everyday- or at least that is what I tell my husband when he asks why this is the third day I have not washed my hair. Your family is adorable!

  7. I love dry shampoo too – nice time saver in a pinch! Jealous about your trip! Paris is always lovely (I've been ~5x) and my mom's family all live in Belgium so we used to spend summers there – gorgeous. Definitely recommend the "Grande Place" in Brussels as well as visiting Brugges and Ghent. So lovely!

Dexter is SO good and it only gets better as it goes on… You are definitely going to be hooked even more after the second season… and third and fourth and fifth… Yikes 🙂

  15. GREAT list! I am a fan of all 5 as well. I wash my hair every other day, so the dry shampoo helps a ton! I went to Paris about 10 years ago, but I was on a SUPER budget (like $50 per night), so I highly doubt any of my tips would be helpful. Ha ha. It was definitely an adventure! Thanks for sharing 🙂

  18. I just had to comment and say that we just recently finished our own Dexter marathon in less than a week. ALL 5 seasons! It's safe to say that week is spent mostly in bed. 🙂 I can't wait for September!

And I'm in awe of looking at paint swatches too! It's like looking at racks of gorgeous shoes!

  22. Oh my, we are totally addicted to Dexter, but we pay for Showtime so we can watch it live when it's on. Showtime has SO many great shows, I can't even think of living without it.

Yeah, I'll tell you what's skanky about dry shampoo -the fact that I paid $24 for a can at Ulta -it smells bad, & I swear nothing is coming out when I spray it other than that terrible smell. I have to try Psssssst (what is w/ that name?? Psssssst…I haven't *actually* washed my hair in a week? Or is it the sound it makes when it comes out? It looks like Barbasol shaving cream!)
I think other than painting (which I loathe), we have the same list! I love the macabre, so I can't wait to Netflix Dexter, & OMG -thank you for informing me about the iphone app!)
Traveling is the best. Paris is the best -don't forget a trip to Laduree!! We're going to Tanzania in ~a month! Yay!
