Pancake Party Preparations

I couldn’t help myself with the post title…hopefully you didn’t spit too much reading it (assuming you read outloud?!)

Breakfast for Dinner (or B4D if you’re in the know) is a favorite in our house. So much so, that Babygirl decided she wanted pancakes (and unicorns?) at her birthday party. I took it a step further and themed the whole party around the yummy flapjack!

Dimple Prints created the adorable Pancakes & Pajamas invitation. I emailed her a photo and party specs, and two days later she emailed me a file for printing. Babygirl even addressed them all herself!

I thought about purchasing a full party package, but decided it’d be fun (and more cost efficient) to do it ourselves. Babygirl loved being involved, and doing craft projects together is always a bonus! Our first stop was choosing a slew of brightly colored scrapbook paper (when it’s on sale of course!).

I printed oversized letters from a Word document on my computer, and used them as templates to make banners. We cut the shapes out of scrapbook paper and glued them to bright ribbon.

Using a scallop punch, we cut circles out of a single sheet of scrapbook paper for cupcake toppers. I printed her first initial and age, and glued them to the circles with a toothpick in between.

These cute lollipops were clearanced out from Valentine’s Day, so I picked up 24 for $2. Simply wrap a floral cube (from the Dollar Store) in paper, poke holes, and insert the suckers. I think they’ll be a cute addition to the table….edible decor for $5 is a winner in my book!

I found this bright fabric for $3/yard and am using it as table covers. For a more finished look (and extra pop of color), I glued blanket binding around the edges. And since the fabric is single-sided, I cut the binding along the seam and just glued one side to the top of the fabric (as opposed to wrapping the binding to the backside also).

Empty Starbucks Frappucino bottles will hold the milk and orange juice. These stripy straws from Garnish make me crazy happy, and I jazzed them up a bit after seeing this idea in CasaSugar’s post. We cut more scallop circles out of scrapbook paper, cut two slits, and inserted the straw.

And finally, Rachie at A Chi Chi Affair had the great idea of milk and cookies as the party favors. I ordered Berry Boxes and Glassine Bags from Garnish as the containers. Orange tulle and pink ribbon are tied around them, and Babygirl signed all the tags herself. We filled our bellies the bags with mini-cookies (Chips Ahoy, no need to add extra work by baking!), closed them up with stickers left over from these sweets, and added a box of Yoo-hoo (it’s color-appropriate, and 3/$1). The paper filler and ribbon is from the Dollar Store. Pretty cute favors for $1.50 each!

I don’t know who’s more excited about this party!!! Happy Weekend friends….hope it’s full of pink cupcakes and stripey straws! I’ll be back next week with all the party pictures, people! (There I go again.)

I love the favor idea!!! I'm having my four year old's party tomorrow and wish I'd thought of this. We are doing an egg hunt as one of our activities and using the candy as favors. I have gift bags for them to decorate to collect the eggs. I'll have to remember your idea for next time!

I love the straws!! I'm going to have to get some…although I have a feeling that my kids are going to use them for evil purposes instead of the chic, stylish ones intended….I think I'll keep them to myself! 🙂
