Knowing you’re going to be in a major metropolitan newspaper, and then actually seeing your giant mug on the cover of said newspaper, are two totally different things. I’ll admit, I woke up unnaturally early Saturday morning to grab our copy of the Dallas Morning News off the porch (Yes, we subscribe to the newspaper. No, I’m not 65.)
We knew the feature was scheduled to run, but we had no idea it’d be the lead story. Or that a giant picture of me would be plastered unretouched on the cover! Taking a photo of me wasn’t even in the plans…the photographer sprung it on me at the end of our shoot. Surely if I’d known, I’d have washed my hair, right?! Well, maybe.
The story was: Dallas’ Next Crafting Obsession: Washi Tape, and they asked me to create five simple projects with it. Since I’m fairly obsessed with the cute tapes, I was more than happy to oblige!
A big thanks to the awesome reporter, Jamie Knodel, and photographer, Vernon Bryant, for the fun experience. And huge thanks for all the sweet words and support from you guys!!! You can read my interview with Jamie on Dallas News.
So spill it…are you crazy about Washi? What projects have you created with it? I’d love to see and be inspired!! How about an impromptu link party so we can all share our inspiration?!!

How stinkin' cool is THAT! You look absolutely adorable and your ideas were so creative and fun (and easy too!). So fun!
congratulations on the feature Cassie!! well-deserved indeed, and as always, you look great dear!
Can you believe I've never used washi tape?! You are such a superstar 🙂
I can say I knew you when……it's so cool being friends with famous people!
What fun! And, you look amazing as usual. I have to admit, I haven't jumped on the band wagon yet. I am definitely missing out but the looks of all the cute stuff you've created. Where do you purchase your tape?
It is cool being friends with famous people! You rock. So proud of you. You are the project queen and this feature is so well deserved!
Congratulations and you look gorge!!! Confession: I don't own and have never used washi tape….
I had never heard of Washi tape until you introduced me to it and now I'm even more inspired to create cute projects around the house. Congrats on the feature Cassie!
Congratulations! That is so cool!
I am obsessed with your washi projects! And congrats congrats congrats!!! Love seeing your pretty face plastered on the front of the paper!!
Congrats on the feature Cassie! You are the queen of DIY!
Congratulations on your feature. I would definitely frame your article on the fridge with washi tape!
Ha — I like that idea!!! 🙂
Congrats! I've been a reader since you did a Pinterest challenge with YHL, but I'm a rare comment-er since I don't have a blog. I love the light switch cover and the patters you made for the coasters, but I was wondering how the coasters would hold up with moisture? Have you tried them out?
Hi Jessica!! Thanks so much for reading and following along for such a long time! I'm so happy you commented…non-bloggers make up the majority of readers, I think…so it's great to hear from you!
I have used the coaster, and it worked just fine…but not sure over long-term. The washi has almost a waxy finish to it, so maybe that helps with moisture. The good thing is, if water messes up your tape, you can just peel it off and add new pieces! I'm fickle, so that works for me. 🙂
Ha, that's a very good point! I think I like that idea even better – you can change them up for different events! Thanks! 🙂
I have a serious obsession with washi tape!!
Do you have a favorite online washi dealer? Yes, "dealer" because it's so darn addictive. I need more colors!
Ha — yes, they are definitely dealers. One roll turns into 20 pretty quick!
cutetape.com provided all the washi for these projects. I've also found it at Micheals and Target, and of course, Etsy is overflowing with dealers.
Hope this helps!
What cute projects and an even CUTER picture of you, Miss Cassie! You need no retouching! Congrats on the big feature– your awesome crafting prowess deserves to be recognized! 😉 Have a great week, girl!
~Abby =)

Congratulations! That's so exciting!
Yay, so exciting to see that beautiful face of yours in the paper!! Congrats!!
I'm equally as crazy about washi tape, is there anything that stuff can't do??
playing catch up – dang, I missed the washi linky! I thought this wasn't your first time in the paper!? Congrats!
