Powder Bath | The Reveal

Well, it came down to the wire, but we managed to pull off our Powder Room makeover in the three-week deadline!! It feels amazing to have it done, and I have all the heart eyes for this tiny little space! It’s been so fun (and a little nerve-racking) participating in the FrogTape Paintover Challenge with the five other uber-talented bloggers, and I can’t wait to see their finished spaces.

As a quick re-cap, FrogTape gave six bloggers $1000 and three weeks to completely transform a room…all will be posted on the FrogTape website for public voting, with the winner receiving $5,000 for the charity of their choice!! How’s that for serious motivation to git ‘er done?! But enough about that, let’s tour our new and improved Powder Bathroom!

As you recall from the Before shots…this was a sad, boring little room. Well, no longer! Between the paper and the pinky-peach ceiling, I don’t know what I love more! We kept the accessories to a minimum, and added just a few things for style and function.

It was impossible to get a full shot (this room is teeny-tiny with a narrow door and tall ceilings!), but the ceiling is the softest shade of peachy-pink, and perfectly compliments the floral paper. We could have left it white, but adding it as a focal point really pulls the room together, and makes everything so intentional.

The modern towel and toilet paper ring keep the room from being too sweet, and the woven basket adds some needed texture.

Toilet Paper Roll

We removed the cabinet over the toilet so the wallpaper would seamlessly wrap the entire room, but the art helps to break it up a bit and gives your eye a place to rest. I’ve had this art piece for several years, and she’s just been waiting for the right home!

The only real hiccup in this room (besides the accelerated deadline and travel plans!), was with the lighting. We figured out last-minute that my starburst sconces were’t going to fit…but we lucked out with these budget-friendly lights, and were even able to pick them up same-day! I still think the starburst sconces are so chic (and serious bang-for-your-buck!), but these simple lights are ideal for this small room and design.

Mirror | Sconces

The baseboards got a fresh coat of white paint, and thanks to FrogTape® Multi-Surface, we were able to get clean, sharp lines, without messing up the floors!

It wasn’t the ideal order of things, but we actually had the wallpaper installed while we were gone, and painted the ceiling when we got home. FrogTape® Delicate Surface protected the paper from paint, and helped us get a clean, sharp line along the ceiling.

I just love this little room so much, and can’t wait to welcome our first guests! ‘Why yes, the Powder Bath is right this way!!’  The kids are even parading their friends through it, so I think the makeover was a success!

So, how’d we spend the FrogTape $1000 budget?

Now, the next part is up to y’all! Head over the FrogTape Paintover Challenge to check out all the other fabulous spaces, and cast your vote for your favorite!! The contest is open until May 29, and the winner will be announced June 14. As far as I’m concerned, we’re all winners…but someone’s charity of choice will be the real winner with a $5000 donation from FrogTape!

If I’m the lucky one with the winning room, my $5000 goes to the Cure Alzheimer’s Fund. A cause that is, unfortunately, near to my heart, so I’d really appreciate if you voted here!

Photos by the darling & talented Mary Summers. Who basically rescued me with this room, because it was near-impossible to photograph!!!

  1. It looks absolutely beautiful! I seriously never liked dark wallpaper, but you really designed the powder bath in such a sophisticated way. The floral print is gorgeous and the painting is such a great touch!

The Cure Alzheimer’s Fund is one of the best Alzheimer’s charities out there, with nearly 100% of all donations going directly to research. Thank you for supporting such an amazing organization (I lost my MIL to Alzheimer’s in September).

That’s exactly why I chose that one! I always research how much a charity actually puts towards their cause…it’s unusual to find one that actually puts more than 70-80% towards the mission!! So sorry to hear about your MIL, it’s a nasty, nasty disease. xo

I couldn’t always live in some of the rooms you decorate (dining room a bit too full on for me!), but I love the designs you put together and admire them. This moody powder room is great. Love the mirror with the sconces.

I’m curious how much the wallpaper install cost? I’m looking to have my powder room done, but I have not idea how much the labor will cost. Thanks!

It can really vary from person to person, depending on their experience level and the size of the room. But I can promise you that you get what you pay for!! Wallpaper is too expensive to risk using the ‘cheapest’ labor…my opinion anyway! But I have an amazing girl…if you happen to be in the DFW area, I’m happy to share her info!

Wow, you didn’t even get any paint on the painters tape! Now that’s profesh. Or totally staged. LOL! The wallpaper is really pretty though.

LOL! #staged I also don’t paint in my jewelry, but it was such a scramble to get it done, there were no photos of the process!! 😉 xoxo

That wallpaper really makes a statement! Love it for such a small space. I’m impressed with what you got done in a short time frame with the trip! Super impressed that you painted after you got back and kept it off the walls. My only experience painting ceilings is how messy it is. I would have ruined the wallpaper doing it in that order.

Painting ceilings is the WORST!!!! The only good thing about this one is it is teeny-tiny!!!

    Hi There,

I found your blog when I searched myself on google. Shameless I know. You may recogniize my name from the Violet Intertube print. I absolutely love this powder room. It is so modern how you juxtaposed the wallpaper with the contemporary print of Violet.

Thank you so much! I am floored. (and I will share and show Violet too!)
I also have a pink powder room at home filled with small artworks. I am going to use your idea to put the TP in the basket.

Thank you. The most beautiful thing besides the print against the wallpaper is the real flowers set against the printed paper. Gorgeous!
